The problem is right there at 8:37 when you say they are equally terrible. They are in no way equally terrible. The terrorists took a few hundred hostages and killed another few hundred people. That was abhorrent. Those terrorists should answer for those crimes and the hostages should be returned and every effort should be made to make that happen. You don't return hostages by carpet bombing entire cities full of non-complicit citizens. 30,000+ Palestinians are dead as a result of what can only be described as collective punishment. 30,000+ people dead... In what universe are those two crimes equally terrible? A few hundred = 30,000? And keep in mind the people killed on the Palestinian side almost exclusively are non-combatants so not the same people who perpetrated the initial few hundred deaths and captures. Add to that Israel has been engaged in an illegal occupation and takeover of Gaza for decades. There is no other word for this than a pogrom or genocide. I've referenced this song before but I think it bears repeating. Sinead O Connor talks about Ireland and the so called potato famine and how the English damaged Ireland and gave it's populace PTSD as a nation.
