This video left me with more questions than answers about masking, as the software did not behave as shown in the video. The manual is 681 pages, so optics is a leap of faith.

We have another video all about EZ Mask here : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebZ9f62F1M3JnHk.html There are others in the pipeline about combining masks. In the meantime, the manual does breakdown the mask tools well and contains hyperlinks and is easy to search. Masking starts at pg 135. There are step by step tutorials for the more complex tools like Snap Mask (pg 74) and EZ Mask (pg 79). If this still doesn't work, visit the forums (forum.borisfx.com) and you can get help there. You can even post your image to see if there are any image specific tricks we can give you.

This seems to be the successor of the great Tiffen Dfx digital filter suite (Discontinued) with the exact same UI but of course with way many more effects. I spent almost a month looking for this software!

You're exactly right. The UI has been modernized in the latest release, but at its heart, it's the software you used to use. Just faster. And with more effects. And better compatibility with Photoshop and layer masks. And and and :D I hope you try it out and enjoy using it on your pictures.

In Optics, every layer works like an adjustment layer. If you want to be able to change things later if you're using the plugin in Photoshop, simply turn your source image in to a Smart Object. Optics will work as a Smart Filter and you can save and make changes at a later time.

Are there any plans for other hosts? I migrated from Adobe to Affinity just last month, and now this comes out and I really want it huhu.

This is a great question. Optics does not currently support Affinity. You can use Optics in an Affinity workflow with the standalone application after you have finished your work in Affinity. Basically do the finishing in Optics. Full Affinity support would be a great goal though.

Hello, I am having problems to activate the trial version of Boris Optics, when I enter the data the program tells me that they are invalid and to please enter them again. I don't know what is happening, I think the data entered is correct. Thank you
