European weather plays such havoc on gear. I'm just so thankful that I live in Western Australia where the weather is so clement in that regard, mind you sun damage is an issue, but so much easier to protect against. Love your vids btw.

Very pretty indeed. I love the frame geometry. I'd be interested in hearing the pros and cons of reverse grip brake levers if you ever get the chance (or if anyone else here would like to chime in?). Ta.

The front hub is probably an original one-piece chrome plated hub from the '50s or '60s. Is the Gazelle name engraved/stamped on it?

It's only illegal to sell a new bike without two independent brakes, does not apply to used bicycles, a new bike must also be supplied with a bell and reflectors front and rear and in the wheels or a reflective side band, also the bicycle must be assembled by a qualified mechanic and the fasteners tightened to the manufacturers torque settings. But don't worry, only small independent bike shops do this!

I have had bike shops for over 20 years. It IS illegal to ride a bike on the road without two braking systems, new or not, unless it predates 1930. A fixed wheel counts as one brake. It doesn’t need tyre reflector bands in the UK. Just reflectors at point of new sale. The part about professional mechanics is not the case in UK. Anyone can build a bike up. Tens of thousands of people have built bikes up from the frame with their choice of components. I did it when I had my Bob Jackson frame made.I wasn’t a professional at that time. Until I see illegal non-compliant E-bikes taken off the market and the road, I’m not overly concerned beyond the actual real safe working of my bike.

@@unbalancedcrank thanks for your view, however please reference the law that states this? Your confusing it with the legal requirements for assembly and to be legal needs to comply with ISO 4210-1:2023, but nobody does as it hasn't been challenged. The I've had a bike shop comment is funny, I'm not sure how it grants you automatic knowledge of law?

Incidentally, I'm no trying to be difficult, I agree with the sentiment that two brakes should be a legal requirement it's just that it isn't. If you've ever retailed high end BMX's and I have the front brake is pressed steel rubbish and is only there to meet legal requirements for assembly with the intention that the owner removes it and bins it once in their possession.
