Hi Steve greetings from Bonnie Scotland, I really appreciate your reviews on this device in fact I bought one of Amazon based solely on your review on the screen clarity. I received it 2 days ago and have been won over to my 1st laser measure experience what a great wee measure. So kind regards Steve and as we say over here Awra Best to you. ( All the best to You ) Neil.

A couple of questions and comments-- 1) Using the 'Stake-Out' option how do you enter 16-inches? It appears you can only enter decimal feet (or meters). This means that to set a stud spacing of 16-inches you have to enter 1.33-feet (which is 15-61//64" to be exact) which is only approximately 16-inches, but the error builds so that after just 24 stud spaces it's an inch off.(exactly 61/64") since the example in the manual mentions using this function for laying out stud spacing this is a bit perplexing - you can get slightly more accurate results by setting unit to metric and entering 16" as it's metric equilivant of 0.406-Meters, but you still end up being 3/8" of an inch off after 24 studs... quit disapointing since all the other functions seem quite well thought out. 2) There appears to be no way to change units resolution? Everything defaults to 1/32"- thisis fine for but having the unit convert to the nearest 1/16" (a much more standard building dimension resolution) instead of me having to do it in my head would lead to reduced errors, also if I'm estimating square-footage for flooring or paint for walls a 1-inch resolution is all that's needed. 3) When using indirect measurement mounted to a tripod I wonder if the unit takes into account the pivot point (i.e. it assumes it's mounted to a Bosch tripod)? Because it seems as if the results are pretty accurate considering the pivot is 2-7/16" from the end. Maybe a reprensative from Bosch technical support can answer that. 4) The carrying case was designed for the previous model GLM-50 (I have one-it's the same case). The "C" is an updated version that adds bluetooth and is about 1/8" thicker. The good news is that the side of the case is made from an elastic fabric and if you stretch the elastic to it's maximum about 10 times you'll find the GLM-50 fits much easier. I actually shoved as much paper in the case as would fit and let it sit for a week fully expanded and now the GLM-50C will slide out with a shake when held upside down. 5) The Bluetooth apps do not recognize when two GLM-50C's are being used at the same time. I have two GLM-50C's and the app doesn't distinguis betweem them so that they cannot be used together as the app can only accept results from the one associted GLM-50C and ignores the second one completely unless the first one is unassociated.... it would sometimes be nice (and speed things up) to have two people doing measuring of an existing building and having both results appear on one app. 6) Using a secret button combination you can display S/N & Rom version stored in firmware along with showing degrees in 1/100 (0.00):: -1) Unit OFF -2) While holding Lower Right Button (Button #4) -3) Press Power On (Button #2) or Top Middle Button (Button #5) -4) Release Lower Right Button (Button #4) while 'loading' screen is still displayed -5) Pressing either Power On (Button #2) or Top Middle Button (Button #5) will chnage display to show degrees in 1/100 (0.00) -5) Pressing again either Power On (Button #2) or Top Middle Button (Button #5) will cycle display through White/Black/Red/Green/Blue -6) Pressing again either Power On (Button #2) or Top Middle Button (Button #5) to Exit and power off unit. My wish list... A) In real-time mode having the ability to change how often the unit remeasures (the default is 0.5 seconds) being able to change this would extend battery life. B) The manual states that the left side of the unit is the reference side for doing level measurements, however the hand strap loop attachment point is also on the left-hand side too - a common error can be getting he thin strap under te edge and throwing off the measurement. There are 3-feet (three legs are always stable) on both the left and right-hand sides as well as the bottom. Using a lab grade reference surface the left side was not a true 90-degrees to the bottom and the left & right sides were not parallel. A few strokes on some 2000-grit wet/dry sandpaper I was able to acheive a perfect 90-degree side to bottom and parallelizm beween sides. C) The unit can do degrees in 1/100th of a degree so why hide it in a secret menu? D) Accuracy per the specification indicated in the manual is between +/- 0.10 mm and 3.50 mm per 1-meter 1/16" over 1 meter -- repeatability is +/- 0.05mm per 1 meter or +/- 1/16-inch over 100-feet-- so in real world terms accuracy is somewhere between +/- 1/8-inch & 4-3/16-inch over 100-feet depending on lighting conditions and reflectabiity of.measured surfaces. In my own (unscientific) indoor test I've routinely got measurements within +/- 1/4-inch over 50-feet with a +/- 1/16" repeatibility error (Min versus Max) over 50 measurements by using the included target cards and doing 25 measurements from one end then 25 going the other way. The 50-foot targets were layed out with a certified surveyor's tape and tensioned - the results were not bad and certantly acceptable tolerances for rough framing or measuing an existing building... don't think I'd want to build furniture with it, but if you think about a quarter inch error that's the difference between pulling the tape taught or not measuing at a 90-degree angle to the wall or level with the floor, overall it's quite impressive and I think I could easily trust it over a steel tape for just about any type of carpentry. E) Align the laser light with the body of the unit so that it can be used as a chalk-line or plumb-line (**)...do you think the reason they don't do this is because Bosch makes laser levels too? (**) I have aligned the laser to the body, it involves drilling the circuit board mounting holes out to allow it to shift and you need some 0.0015" brass shim stock to place uner the screw heads. Aligning was over 50-feet by trial and error with a gage block and string line and took me about 20 minutes to acheive level and about 10 minute to get plumb. The laserr light diffuses with distnce so you have to split the beam on the edge of the gage block. F) The memory appears to be screen shots rather than the display of data stored - it wold be handy at times to designate some of thee values to keep rather than scrolling off or even just a simple on/off to designate when to record memories .

I'd like to see how accurate it is in an accelerating and decelerating vehicle measuring angles, bubble level, etc, with all the changing momentum. For example, if you tape it flat next to your gear shifter, in bubble level mode, and you slam on the breaks in the parkinglot, is your bubble level going to keep an accurate reading of the pitch of the car, or is it going to surge forward and back from the immediate change in momentum.

Hi, I just got the GLM50C which seems to work great. However, when I turn it on it seems to default to "Real Time Measurement", which I never want to use. I want to use only "Length Measurement". Is there a way it will stay in "Length Measurement" when I turn it off and on? Thanks for your help

Hi Steve, I just purchased a GLM 50 CX. I am not sure what the "X" is for after the "C". I am wondering what type of top mount bracket you have on your tripod in the Sept. 18, 2016 video. I have a tripod that is made for video equipment and the laser is offset from the top center of it when attached to the top of the tripod. I am setting and centering the tripod over a known point location to measure to buildings, garages, etc. . The measurement from the laser should also be centered on the tripod to obtain the best or most accurate distances. Thanks for you assistance. Ron H.

Is the laser accuraat for woodworker? spec say: +-2mm margin. will the 2mm margin have a big impact on measuring small objects(10-50cm wood)? or is the old ruler better?

Unusable: it displays 1/32 inch increment only..Quick what's 25/32nds? You can't change it to round to 1/16ths. No one in the construction world measures to 1/32 except for cabinet makers who don't use lasers. 99.9 % of users will find this frustrating-- Besides the fact that it's only accurate to 1/16th so what's the point in showing 32nds??? I measure houses all day and find this unusable. The large numbers are great and all other usability is good, but they need to allow us to round up to 1/16ths.
