As an electrician that does strictly remodels this is an absolute essential tool. kzfaq.infoUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI Being able to precision cut any material with a light weight tool is priceless.I upgraded to this Dewalt 20v from a competitor's 12v. The Dewalt 20v is just as light as the competitor's 12v. I am extremely pleased with the overall performance and battery life of this tool. As far as oscillators go, they just aren't very ergonomic tools. The dewalt oscillators have an offset handle that do make them somewhat more ergonomic than the competitors' oscillators.

Most cordless multi tools are similar. It's the blades that determine their efficiency. Dewalt blades smoke more than a bingo caller in a working man's club.
@sizif717
@sizif717 3 жыл бұрын
Very true comment. The differences between the tools are in most cases in the comfort / features / vibration. And the differences in the performance depends more on the blade / sanding pad, etc. - than on the tools themselves. Not that there aren't differences ( like different osculation angles, revs.. torgue) - but in real life scenarios - it is much more on the blade than on those differences.

I bought a corded Fein Multimaster, back in 2007 I think, at Yardles show. Its not the most used tool I have, but it's the best by a country mile. When all other options fail, this is the tool to turn too !! I have a few of the Bosch 12V tools, so I'm thinking that route - keep the corded for bigger jobs, and the 12V close at hand.

I’ve got the slightly older model (no LED light) and I assume it’s the same on this model, but the battery is loose/wobbly by design. The battery mount is spring loaded and free floating to reduce the transfer of vibrations from the body into the battery. What is important to note though is that if you push on the battery to apply more force (which you shouldn’t do) it will damage the casing of the battery over time as you’re forcing a non-moving object against one that is vibrating pretty hard. It’s not gonna break your battery or anything but it does wear the casing down

Will look forward to the comparison to see how they run against each other . I have two but one of mind I just use for sanding since I got a yellow one because I noticed the power difference straight away . The Bosch look good but I do think one or two are good now . Then the is base that Festool as making it easier to control the blade plus not tried but understand it takes some of the vibration out . Good video

Got the Gop 55-36. I like pairing it it up with the Fein 63502161210 Starlock E-Cut Long-Life Saw Blades where i can. If you can get the sawdust to fall out as you cut the blade lasts longer than letting it build up in the cut, burning the blade👍 Sometimes wonder if i should've just went the battery route with the Gop... Fein and Metabo blades are usually cheaper than the bosch ones if you hunt about. The handle realease and snap fit is good when the blades are hot. Don't have to hold the blade if changing orientation. Also on grout I've used small toothed blade (possibly the semi circular one as well from memory) as you can run up beside the tile with no fear of the carbide or diamond chipping into the tile. Just watch for it kicking out onto the tile.

5:50 are the vents in the middle because they want you to two-hand it if possible? Like one hand holding the back end to support more of the battery weight and the other hand over the front to guide the tool precisely. I don't know how much this thing weighs but I imagine that having two hands on it would be very helpful for precise control, and I figured they designed it to be handled that way.

3 amp battery that it comes with is flat designed for its shape and lasts long. Starlock blades are expensive, so use them on the correct materials, i learnt the hard way by destroying all the teeth just from using wood cutters on plasterboard. Very noisy, it definetly gives back vibrations after a long period of time. Ive had it for nearly 3 years and its got me out of tight situations. The vent is on both sides so its not gonna be possible to block the entire vent with onr hand. Maybe use something like your other hand to click the starlock in. No one is going to pick up a bit and put it back down to slam the tool on to the bit. Never come across a situation where the bit are laid out ready to slam on unless you want them nicked lol. Id love to try using mine as a sander.

I'm not in the trade anymore, partly for health reasons. With that in mind I couldn't justify buying a brand like Bosch, or DeWalt. Already having the batteries I bought the Ferrex one from Aldi. For what is a low cost tool, it has some weight to it and feels solid. It's a great tool, cuts quickly and for domestic use performs well beyond my expectations. Great for cutting T&G floorboards. I certainly agree with the use of ear defenders. Your ears can buzz a bit even after a short time using the tool.

question for you Roger, have you ever taken a window out to replace with newer double glazing without breaking the tiles? I have an old aluminium framed kitchen window that needs replaced for a new pvc one and I dont want to break the tiles taking it out so was hoping to use my bosch multi tool to rake out the grout and hopefully get the window out without damaging them. Is this something you've done in all your years? or robin? ideally would prefer trying to source replacements as theyre incredibly hard to come by and fairly expensive at £45 /m2
@iggifer
@iggifer 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve taken tiles out with mine, once you cut all of the grout out you are at least limiting the damage to the tile you’re removing and not transferring the pressure you’re applying to the neighbouring tiles. Smaller tiles are easier to remove than big tiles (to an extent) and it all depends on how well they’re stuck down. I would bank on breaking at least one or two (depending on how many you need to take out) but that’s not a foregone conclusion by any stretch. It can be incredibly hit and miss

Grabbed from online. Each Starlock category is designed to match the power output of its compatible oscillating tools. Starlock blades can be used with ANY multi-cutter. StarlockPlus and StarlockMax blades require more power and are therefore limited to use with certain multi-tools. StarlockMax is the most powerful blade classification. Starlock Blades Fit ALL multi-cutters. This includes Bosch, Fein, Makita, Metabo, Hitachi, Milwaukee, AEG, Einhell, Ryobi and Skil. DeWalt multi-tools require an adapter. StarlockPlus Blades Fit ALL Fein multi-cutters, ALL new Bosch Starlock multi-tools and some old Bosch oscillating tools with OIS interface. This includes the GOP 300, GOP 250, GOP 18 V and PMF 350 CES. Other brands require an adapter. StarlockMax Blades Fit ALL new Bosch StarlockMax multi-cutters and ALL new Fein StarlockMax multi-tools. Other brands require an adapter. Note: Old multi-tool blades are not compatible with new Starlock multi-tools.
