Bosch Jetronic Cold start troubleshooting as performed on a Delorean

Ай бұрынToday we will be troubleshooting a Delorean with cold start issues. This PRV engine uses the Bosch Jetronic K fuel injection system and requires the cold start valve in conjunction with the thermo time switch to be functioning correctly for easy cold starting. The CSV will be tested and cleaned. Also the Thermo time switch and associated wiring will be tested and compared to a new one. We will be using my Heathkit VTVM and DC power supply for testing.

So it seems that the the ultimate issue was a gummed up cold start valve? Was the brand new thermotime switch non-functional?

I will be conducting some further tests on the new switch, connected externally in ice water to test if it functions. I didnt want to loose focus on the troubleshooting by spending too much time on the new switch.

@@delorean1 But just to reiterate Chris's question, is it your notion that the issue was the cold start valve? Early in the video you show the technique of pulsing power to the cold start valve. Did that work here? It would seem that with a gummed up cold start, pulsing it would not get the engine to start. Would the pulsing technique be a way to verify the cold start operation without taking it all apart?

Watched the whole video and I have no idea what you fixed. You seemed to put all your old parts back on and start the car….
