Truth be told, unless it's a point to point wired boutique amp utilizing the utmost scrutiny in manufacting, there will be descrepencies in the actual wattage. If you dropped into your local music store and measured across several identical amps, you would not get the same results. My first amp was a Peavey Pacer. God rest its soul! :-( I kept blowing speakers and could not understand why. Then, an amp tech measured the actual wattage and it was 60 watts. Well no wonder. DURRRRRR. The moral of the story is. Unless you pay a lot of money for boutique amp, be prepared to experience inconsitencies in manufacturing. Maybe you should send a nice email to Boss and correct them? Who knows, it might just work and they would go back and spend thousands of dollars correcting the owners manual. It's worth a shot. :-) Cheers

@@wantaprs This is not an issue with consistency in manufacturing. This is obvious since they print on the back that the "100 watt amp" only draws 77 watts from the wall. It's an issue with lies in marketing.

It’s still so loud I never use the 100watt setting. 50watt is loud enough to hear easily above loud drummers!

I have the MK2 and there is a bit amount of distinction between those 3. Personally I like the vintage the most.

The contour settings all sounded identical to me, also.

Why do you think they are in the worse place? If the amp is sitting on the floor and you’re looking through stage lighting, it’s much easier to see those controls if they’re on top of the amp. I love my Fender Blues JR and the controls are on the top. I guess I just don’t understand your reasoning, not saying it’s wrong but I think it’s user preference.

It also appearently sounds more crisp, but yeah it's not revolutionary with its feature set.

I have a 5 piece band and our lead guitar uses a MKII 50 watt and our keyboard player also playing guitar and he has a MKII 100 watt. When we have gigs in smaller venues where the amps aren’t mic’d, they come through load and clear with absolutely no problems cutting through the mix. Most of our gigs are in medium size venues and we mic everything anyway. I would think that most people who play in medium to large venues are doing the same.

I had a Katana Mk II head with the 2x12 cab and it gave my Twin Reverb a run for its money. Boss's stuff is quite good and the class AB power section really makes a huge difference. I didn't like the stock Katana speakers, but went with an Eminence Texas Heat and a Swamp Thang in the same cab and it was a killer amp setup.

That guitar is cool though! As you pointed out Hendrix played a right handed guitar flipped but strings were stil low strings on the thumb side. The guitar in the vid recreates the same vibe in a right handed guitar, where the bridge pickup has the pole piece on the low string closer to the bridge and the pole piece on the treble strings being further up the string, like Hendrix's flipped guitar! Also the string tension is going to be a bit different with the low string being longer from bridge to tuning peg as well as the high string being shorter from bridge to tuning peg. Pretty cool I think as that is going to get you even closer to Hendrix's setup for those wantig that detail!
