Happy to help! To answer your question, it’s a lot of pre-routing work but it can be done. Just think about it as the routing of the inputs / outputs of the mics and instruments, routing of the rhythm section and the routing of the loops. 3 different routings that can be put almost anywhere. You can send anything to (almost) any output so you could route the guitar to the amp for both the inputs and the loops and same for the bass amp.

Hey 👋 first off I’m glad it’s all working out for you with that nice marriage of the 1010 and the RC-600. But.. how weird with the variation?! I’m genuinely scratching my head to figure this one out. I would try a simple pedal as a pure test like an FS-5/6/7 or equivalent if you have one around and see if the variation works that way. Again, just as a test. If it does work okay then this would mean that the signal is being sent via the CTRL and not MIDI and it’s the MIDI as the potential issue. One thing I found with MIDI and Boss loopers when I am using my Morningstar MC8 is I had to give it two controls, one to open the 127 and a second to close at 0, otherwise it wouldn’t recognise the press the second time round. I don’t know if this is the same issue or something you can program up with the behringer and I also don’t want send you on a wild goose chase when all the other pedals are working. 🤔 my workaround for now would be a CTRL pedal but of course that’s not the solution.. just a temp fix. I haven’t owned an FCB1010 for years but I’ll try my best to figure it out. Only thing I can think of atm is the signal is not telling the midi number to close (return to 0 for the next press) which, as I say happens with my Morningstar and the fix is to add another button press about 100ms later to say press again to 0. Let me work on this..

For my main loop setup I’m thinking of keeping it as a 1-6 across the bottom. Just feels more natural. Like an RC300.. but when in Multi mode the only downside is double tap to stop.. but my mode 2 will be TK 1-6 play/stop so I can’t record on mode 2. Makes it easier to just play and stop. Then mode 3 for FX. Video about this coming soon. And yeah Teej needs more subs. He is putting in so much work! 👍🏻

Hi Vincent 👋 Thank you so much. Global settings are in different places depending on what you want to change. You can indeed have things globally and per memory. For example, the input preferences are in Menu>Setup>preference I have these set to System instead of Memory. Same for output settings. Download the parameter guide found here: static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/RC-600_Parameter_eng01_W.pdf and go to page 25.

Yeah to be fair the intro and outro’s are pretty self explanatory, just have the option to switch them on and when you start or stop your last loop it will generate a nice drum pattern. Depends if you are using that in your song.

Yeah you can totally overdub. 👍🏼 Think of each pedal like this as an RC-5 but they are linked so as you turn the next one on, the other goes off, just same as single mode. 👍🏼 Downside as we mentioned in the interview kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5qHqaqqqd6Xemg.html off camera is that you have to double tap to stop. But that can be changed with mode 2.

Hey James. So there is a known bug where on tracks 2&3, in single mode the RC-600 will add a bar and blink before playing the loop. There is a firmware update coming soon. That’s officially from Boss btw. Regarding question 2, yes you just need to change the loop play option to end loop and the loop won’t start until the other one finishes. 👍🏻

Yes you can. 👍🏻 Assigns can be all to the same button if you wish. Just map out HOW you want the assigns to work so when you press a pedal, effects and other parameters switch on / off as you see fit. Yes you can do it either by the conventional midi or usb, or you can use up to 16 assigns to send midi #cc commands. 👍🏻 So as you press a pedal for a change (like on single mode, you press a loop for the chorus), you could also send out assign midi signals so multiple changes happen at once. 👍🏻 Quite complex.

This sounds right up the RC-600’s street. Lots of different ways to do it and it’s more than capable with high sound quality as well. You could have 99 memories, one as each song.. or have a set for the solo and a set for the band stuff and route it all differently. 👍🏻

No but there is a workaround. So you can only have one time signature on one memory but the workaround is to not use different tracks but to use different memories for the same song. Imagine your first part is 4/4. This is memory 1 Then your next part is 6/8, this would be memory 2 and then use two buttons to go between the memories. 👍🏻

Yo. So when the RC-600 is in ‘generic’ mode it will send a normal 2 track (L&R) stereo mic of the unit via USB. When the USB is in Vendor mode, the system will send out however you have the outputs set and can be an 8in / 8out audio interface as well as outputting the 6 tracks out plus the rhythm. If you route it in a certain was, it will copy that including sub 1&2 as well as Mains and Phones.

I’m hearing this a lot. Seems like a bug with warbling when in single mode. My advice is to report it to Boss and the more that do it, the better. 👍🏻

Hey 👋 So think of it like this.. the pedal is set to system wide be default.. so that means if you make a pedal change, it’s system wide and the same across the 99 memories. If you go to PREFERENCE in the menu option and change it the pedal modes from System to memory, that means that each of the 99 memories remembers the pedals as they are but if you make a change to pedals on memory 1 and save it, then they will be different from memory’s 2-99. This means you can have 1 memory with a single mode, one memory with a multi mode, one memory where the FX are on mode 1 but then another memory to help you in the style of a cover, like I did with Mad World. It’s more things to remember but it means that each memory can be vastly different if you want them to be.. but an ‘untouched’ memories will be as they are out of the box until you change them. Hope that helps.

Hey Jose 👋 So you have 6 tracks (loops) per memory and 99 memories. I’m short, yes you can split them off as parts if you wanted to. There is more than one way to do this. A) change to single mode like in this video to have multiple sections where only one loop plays at a time B) use assigns to turn off loops when others are pressed to have more than one loop play per part C) have different memories as the different parts of the song and go up and down the memories live with the parts saved on each memory. So the other part of the question is really down to wether the other piece of equipment can send out tempo in midi clock to help the RC-600 be the secondary device and sync. You can even send PC midi messages to change the memories too. Hope all this helps. Morning Rob 👋 So if you want specific lengths on the other tracks, you can always dictate what those lengths are instead of being in free or auto mode. Before you record the loops, go into LOOP>Right arrow and make sure loop sync is on for all of them. Then go into each track (tracks 1,2 & 3) and you can say how many bars each loop is, so for this example, track 1 is 4bars, tracks 2 & 3 are 12 bars. Then you can loop in confidence that the loop with start at the right point and you shouldn’t have a syncing issue. HOWEVER - I appreciate that you might want to do different things on the same memory, but this is where I have everything in free mode and just practice with the looper and have the outer orb indicator showing the length of the loops and well as the display on the loop length as well. In the manual and the way I/we have the 1- 6/TRK buttons set up is (Copied from the Manual): TRK1-6 REC/PLAY4 PUSH-REC/PLAY-Switch between record/play/overdubbing for the specified track. HOLD-UNDO, CLEAR-The specified track, long press the switch during recording or playback to Undo, and long press the switch once again to Redo. Long press the switch during stopped, the track is cleared. CLICK-STOP-Stop record/play for the specified track. According to the manual the selected TRACK should CLEAR during stopped? ("Long press the switch during stopped, the track is cleared"). But when I stop the track (lights up as white) and hold down the button-long press - to clear - it starts playing again and will only undo the previous overdub? That can't be right can it? The selected stopped track should clear? Thanks again! :)

By default, if you import them and change it to loop end, the tail is part of that loop.. as it’s a recording and therefore it’s just playing that recording. If you have a tail and if not part of the bpm of the loop the it will cut it if you switch immediately. Answer for this is to use the track fx and assign it to that track to produce a tail which will carry on if the audio is cut. Hope that helps

Hey Sammy. So - you are right there are 4 banks of 4 totalling 16 fx both for the input fx and the track fx. Firstly - you have access to all 16 BUT you can only use 4 at a time. You could have that one delay and assign it to more than 1 loop but it would be the same delay.. you could have 2 delays on different banks and assign them to different loops, but then that takes up 2 out of the 4 (hope that makes sense) What you need to decide is wether that effect is going to be an input or an effect on the track (loop). So you could have 2 delays that are track fx and therefore it wouldn’t interrupt the input fx. Remember input fx are affecting the sound coming in and if you loop that you are burning that fx into the loop. Track fx are fx that are being added ‘afterwards’ and are not burnt in and can be taken away again. I hope this helps.

Have you updated the firmware? Are you saying that if you have 2 or more tracks in single mode but the rest in multi, the warble happens? I haven’t experienced this.. warbling happens if I change the tempo but that’s just cause of the sound being stretched. firmware update first if you haven’t already and let me know. @@JohnPaulMusicUK Thanks for the response on this. I’m on firmware version 1.02. So I think I could update it. Yes. If I go with the stock set up and put all but one or two tracks into single mode, I get strange artifacts in the remaining multi mode loops. Interestingly though. I followed your helpful video about setting up for 6 one-pedal loopers in mode 1 and then put track one into multi mode with the rest in single mode and it seem to be working perfectly fine with no warbles or artifacts. So that’s encouraging.

Oh I see. I have seen a glitch that some people are having with loops 2 & 3 where the rhythm was messing up when rhythm ‘intro’ was on and it was adding a bar beat. This feels like a bug to me, Regarding the artefacts, maybe it is. I would reach out to boss and report it. The more people who contact support about it, hopefully it can be resolved in firmware. Yes. Go to rhythm and turn ‘fill’ on. If you then have a variation button and you tap it before the start of the next bar then it will fill. 👍🏻

This was a known fault on the previous firmware where the unit was trying to add the intro on loops 2&3.. it was fixed in the latest version - certainly fixed for me. Update the firmware and it should be fine. 👍🏻

Hi Stephen. It depends if you have your buttons as per memory or per system. But if you make a change per system, it should be fine but I would always write to a memory anyways and that should save it. 👍🏼

Hey 👋 If you choose RHYTHM KIT as the target, it’s telling the RC-600 to switch the type of drum kit from one to the other. This is useful if you wanted to start with say a cajon and then move to a full kit in a song or mix from ‘real’ drums to electronic etc. you should be able to switch it back by pressing your assign a second time to go from one to another. This is per memory so yes it will change depending on what you have set up. Alternatively, yes, have 2 switches like an FS-6 or FS-7 dedicated to the changing of the drums, if that is what you are looking to do?

Hey 👋 So no there isn’t.. but there is a way you can press the button to change it.. and that would be using an external pedal like an FS-5U. You could set it up to be a one button change over. If you want the unit to be that automatic, I would maybe suggest looking into a backing track solution if you are unable to control the looper - have a look at this video and really think if you want a looper or a backing track machine - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qt6qp853zM2bp4k.html

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Only someone that doesn‘t play the drums would suggest something like that. 😅 The Boss pedals are not a good option for drummers. Get a piano pedal or one with easy action from Yamaha. You can place it next to he heel of the hihat pedal and work it with the heel of your foot. Program the controls so it has a triple function - and you can control start > record > delete/undo. With this setting it‘s easy for the drummer to get into the groove, record and repeat the recording if necessary.

One more thing…. The track “clears” if I do the long press after recording the track, but that’s technically an undo. That works. But If I go back later to clear it, it plays instead of clearing.

Oh and I luv Elbow so cool for doing that tune!

Hi. Yeah so this is a failing of what’s written on the manual. The way I do it is double tap hold.. but only seems to work when the loop is stopped. I have reported this back to boss as a fault cause if you hold down when the looper is in its default mode.. that works (holding the stop button) but for some reason it’s like a combination of double tap to stop AND hold. Weird!! 🤷‍♂️

Hi Felix. You are not alone on this. No you don’t have to configure anything… but I am getting lots of people having this issue. Try, just as a test, converting one of your wavs to 16bit and see if it imports.

You would use assigns and the #cc number you have for the HX. Midi videos are coming but they are difficult because a lot of other units do things differently. Personally I don’t own a HX but I would check what #cc and midi channels are on the HX and how it’s configured and then get the RC-600 to talk to it that way and match it up using assigns. 👍🏻 Hope that helps (but yes video is on the way).

Try turning on quantise. Go to Loop, then record and turn on quantise there. If you are using it in single mode there is a known bug with adding a silent bar with tracks 2&3 which a firmware update is on the way. Other than that, it’s just down to practice.

Hey Marvin 👋 So the only way I would do this is split the stereo feed. So have the output 1 panned hard left and the output 2 to hard right in track one. Hope that makes sense so the output is only on one side of the feed to make the signal go to the right amp.

Main differences - Price, Physical size & weight, connectivity (depends if that’s important to you) and import your own Rhythms on the 600.

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thank you John!!! I think that I just figured out that the RC 600 is not able to handle different Songparts in a way that it is really useful :(. This is a shame. The hardware and Effects are great. Hardware is best on the market. But that Boss is still insisting to stay with its absolutely senseless limitations is really not understandable for me. In fact they already have everything that it need implemented in the software. They just need to allow us to quantize loops that are Sync off and everything would work perfectly. Very sad for me. A brand new looper with the brain of an Dinosaur.

Maybe that will come. I think it’s pretty customisable and the most customisable hardware looper so far unless you go to software like Ableton or Loopy pro, but then you need an audio interface, more cables and a housing. I get it though and yes, I suppose I am defending the unit a little.. I will admit that. There are problems.. but here was problems with version 1 of the Headrush Looperboard and it TOTALLY changed with firmware version 2. I am in hope that issues and features will be resolved but I understand your frustrations. Give it time.. but I really do sense your frustration in your comments and they are valid.

The only reason I can think of why they made it this way at all (and hold back a VERRRRY basic kind of looping strategy) is that they believe it should be this way. I hope that more important testers like you and other youtubers maybe can persuade Boss to make this possible in a future update. Would be so lovely. Cause I really think that this RC 600 is hardware wise the BEST Looper out there. Just not software... :/ Thank you for your great content :)

So.. my full system is this looper with an Expression pedal and an fs-7 pedal and a TC-Helicon Voicelive Play Acoustic. I have mic and guitar going in through the Voicelive Play and into the RC-600. I normally have a stereo out to the PA. Yes I gig with it and it’s not super confusing.. just a few things I would setup to do basic looping. It can be very very confusing if you get into lots of editing with the looper. Oh Markus this is simply horrible! I’m so sorry this is happening. I am guessing that you are writing these changes to the memory as you are doing it (just asking) as this will save it. If you are and it’s lost those settings then I would strongly suggest a factory reset with a new firmware update. Failing that, contact Boss Support directly!!

Hey Daniel. If you want to change the pattern, you can create your own using the Boss RC Rhythm converter and then import it which will be under the ‘user’ section of the Rhythm. Hope that helps.

Hi Alex. So this is a comment concern of most loop artists with the rc-600. It’s all down to timing. And I don’t mean YOUR timing. When you recorded TR1 and it’s going round and round, TR2 and TR3 are linked to it. (I know, right? Don’t ask me why but it is. If you think about how many revolutions TR1 has been through since PLAY was pressed. If you then hit record on TR2 and it’s on the 3rd revolution, then it will record in the middle of the loop. My advice is to go into LOOP, TR1 REC and check it’s in Free mode not audio, then press LOOP again and your in the same menu but on TR2. Check TR2 and TR3 etc are also in FREE from recording and try it again. When they are in auto they are NOT independent loops of each other. Hope that helps.

So go into MENU>OUTPUT>ROUTING>INPUT/RHYTHM and use the right page button to get to the last menu. There is an option for INPUT THRU. It’s ON by default but When this is set to “OFF”, the input sound from the MIC 1/2 and INST 1/2 jacks is muted and is not output to all OUTPUT jacks. But it will record the Mics to the Tracks/Loops. 👍🏻 Hope this helps.

Yes you can save a memory to another memory slot. Just hit enter and exit to write the memory and then the next page is asking you which memory bank do you want to save it to. To swap them you would need something like the RC-600 editor (unofficial but brilliant) have a look here: rc600editor.com

Regarding your comment about overdubbing balance, it’s all practice and perfecting that technique. Lower the volume slightly so it doesn’t come in so hot.

Yes. When you click to write to memory, you can then dictate which one, so save your memory and then save again to the next. Then you have all the same settings and just make your changes. 👍🏼

yes. this is true if you have loop sync on. check page 3 of the parameter guide for the RC-600. try turning loop sync off and that should stop happening

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Hi John, contrary!!! The problem occurs when the Loop Sync is OFF. I want that each track will start from the beginning as soon as the previous track ends!! Try record 2 measure in in track 1 and 3 measure in track 2 and see by yourself when Loop Sync is OFF how the tracks sound. If you will record with the same measure at those tracks when the Loop Sync is ON, the record will sound OK, but track 1 will not start from the beginning when track 2 ends!

Yes. On a specific effect, I’m the menu you start on page 2, click the left arrow to page 1 and it will tell you what inputs you are effecting (all is the default).

Different beasts with the same brain. Totally depends ‘how’ you want to loop. Lots more control without adding anything on the 505mkii but if your hands are not free then the 600 is the way to go. It could change the way you loop and perform but the 600 is more customisable than the 505mkii.. but you can add midi, expression and more to both.

If I click LOOP > TRACK > 4 clicks to the right PAGE button, I arrive at the INPUT page for that track. If I select RHYTHM to be ON or OFF, it seems to make no difference. I would have thought that in the ON position, the audio of the rhythm track would be recorded along with whatever other inputs I have set as ON. The other selectors seem to work, but not the RHYTHM selector. Did I miss something?

Hey Mark 👋 No you are correct - here’s what the parameter guide says on page 4: - Sets whether the sound from each input jack/connector and the rhythm should be inputted to the track (ON) or not (OFF) during recording. Turn the [1] knob to select the input jack/connector or RHYTHM, and press the [1] knob to switch between ON/OFF. * When STEREO LINK (p. 9) is “ON,” the MIC 1, 2 and L/R channels are shown as a single connector. My only thoughts is how do you have the Rhythm routed? Maybe it the ‘option’ to turn it on but still needs to be routed. Go to MENU>INPUT>RHYTHM and see if the Rhythm out is output (which is default) or LOOP. 👍🏻

Hi Ludek, change switches 2,4 & 6 to rec/play 4 for tracks 2,4, & 6 and you will have it the way i have. Remember you have to select the track with rec/play 4.. so track 1 rec/play 4, track 2 rec/play 4..etc Check you haven’t got the same tracks selected or you haven’t got ‘current’ track.

Yes but with the 600 you are getting better quality sound at 32-but floating and a smaller form factor with more inputs and better routing. And tons more.

Interesting. Yeah there’s a few things the 600 can do that the 505mk2 can’t and visa versa.

For USB for can either have it as a 2in / 2out audio interface, or put it into ‘vendor’ mode and it’s an 8in / 8out interface. 👍🏻

That depends on what you want to achieve. There is menu diving with both but I have set mine up in a way I want it for a live gig and now I shouldn’t have to menu dive at all. Basically what you use it for, and also song writing/build compositions when a creative idea hits. I want to be able to bang a button and go. Don't really know if the tech has gotten that far yet. Totally. For those ‘instant’ moments.. I use voice memos on my iPhone, record the separate parts (and try to be in tune and in time 😂) then use that as a template to re-record when I’m back at a looper. 👍🏼

Hi. By default the RC-600 has AUTO switched on in the LOOP-TRACK 1-6 settings. Change this for each loop to FREE. See if that helps?

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Ok I know this video but I will try in single mode and let you know. It is simple songs like country roads where verse has one bar more than chorus. If I had a hammer... But I found also another solution: Track one multi mode sync (drum track - recorded first), all others single + unsync and allow all single tracks to bounce in from track one during recording. Then you can record every track as long as you want having a sync feeling during play because you recorded also your syncronized drum track one. After that you only need to mute or stop track one.. Not optimal but it works. Greetings from Germany. Holger

Hello Edward. I'm not sure I follow.. This video does just that, where every part(intro, verse, chorus etc from 1-6) is separate. once you start another part the previous part will stop.

Menu - click right - preference - you can change mode 1-3, CTRL 1-4 & EXP 1&2 system to per memory. Download the Parameter guide from boss support page and it’s on page 25. 👍🏻

Mode is simply 3 different modes of the looper. Mode 1,2 & 3. So there are 9 buttons on the device and 3 modes so think of a mode like a bank. 3 banks of buttons = 27 buttons. An assign is assigning a button (wether internal or external) to a source (do something like turn something on or an effect or a change etc) It’s pretty extensive what you can achieve.

Press the LOOP button, go across till you get to Rhythm. In there you will have play and stop modes and you can choose how it behaves with START TRIG and STOP TRIG. You can’t stop the light from flashing.. but you can change the rhythms behaviour. By default START TRIG is on LOOP START and STOP TRIG is on LOOP STOP. It should also work with All start stop out of the box in this instance cause no loops are playing. You can have it independent but you will need to either change one of the buttons on one of the modes or use an external pedal like an FS6/7 like I do. When the rhythm light is off, it shouldn’t play, when it is green it is armed to play. Remember to save it how you want it to the memory. I have mine off so I can control it how I like. Look at page 6 of the parameter guide to help you. Hope this helps Robert 👍🏼

@@JohnPaulMusicUK what I'm finding is that say there's a tempo flashing at 100bpm but I want to do a song at 80bpm. If I record at a slower 80bpm pace it still flashes 100bpm. The fact you can't turn off the tempo flashing is a not good. You used to be able to on the old one. Makes no sense at all. So there's no way to start a loop off from scratch without the bpm already flashing the wrong bpm to what I want?
