I'm discovering for myself having to double tap the pedal to stop the loop to be a bit of a challenge when performing live so I've added the optional Boss FS-6 dual foot switch. I will use this setup for the first time on my gig today.

Good turorial which also highlights the shortcomings on the looper i.e. lack of quantisation and overdub cancellation, which is a pain.

Another tip: You can adjust the loop playback level so it stays nestled in the background while soloing. You can lower the initial loop level by long-pressing the loop button on the part (guitar or vocal) of the playback level you want to set. You then use the up or down buttons to adjust the playback level and press the exit button to set the new level. (Info is on page 12 of the manual) BTW, not having an undo is a significant setback for this otherwise very useful pedal Perhaps they can add it with a software upgrade and be able to activate with the FS-6 pedal.

Never ended up buying this due to the inconvenience on the double tap to stop the loop. Adding another pedal to this defeats the object. It is meant to be seamless playing and smooth transition between rhythms. Boss made one hell of a cock up with that double stop !

the loop is just for the guitar or you can loop your voice too? you know some pedal for loop your voice and guitar at the same time? maybe rc 300

I’ve just started using mine and the issue I’m finding is the output for the loop can’t be lowered to have it as the backing for me to solo over. Am I missing something?

H i Deb, thanks for posting this informative video. I have but one question that i cannot get an answer to regarding the loop time. So this VE 8 has 80 seconds of recording loop time. This is where i am unsure, does that mean that if for example i record my first loop of 20 seconds duration that i can only then do three overdubs making it 80 seconds in total? Or does it mean something else? I would so appreciate, if you could tell me what it means. Thanks, Mick D

Hi Deb, is there a way to clear the loop without it starting to play again when holding the switch pressed down for 2 seconds? That is very annoying in a live setting.

Hi Deb , I was looking through your videos but couldn't tell if you had a video on how to change your presets ? For example If I wanted to have a preset 1 as phaser guitar and have my vocals set to high and higher how do I do that ? Also is there a way to recall it without having to hit the memory button while your playing ? I have the fs-6 set up exactly the way u did it in your vid where 1) controls the source 2) is the start /stop/ looper so not sure if I can use that ..

Just 1 doubt of mine i would like to ask you, please: Concerning to the setting of an external pedal, in manual there's written that you can set up "Looper Source": according to you, does it mean that using this setting by pressing the FS 5U footswitch is as if I pressed the black "loop button" of boss ve 8 with all its functions? Hey Deb, I’m really starting to dislike how complex this machine is coupled with the horrible directions boss provides .. I can’t figure out the volume for the looper .. I recorded myself playing and when I loop anything the volume seems to drop .. I’ve tried adjusting the volume knobs but I see in the manual that it says to adjust the playback volume u hit the loop button and then adjust it using the up and down arrows .. isn’t it the same exact thing if I just turn the knob that’s right above it ? How do I get it so that my guitar volume while playing is the same exact volume as the looper playback ? Are those volume numbers by guitar and vocal on the looper side a % of the playback volume vs my actual playing volume ? If I adjust it to 100% will that be equal to my playing volume ?

Hi Deb, thanks for the great explanation I have a couple questions .. if I'm playing a song that has the same 4 chord progression when I try to loop it there always seems to be a small cutoff of the first and last chord and can't figure out why.. also at the end when I'm done playing that song and double tap to stop as soon as I go to delete the track it starts playing again. Is there a way to avoid this ?
