I like the way you presented everything, very methodical. I sometimes wonder what the difference is between "samba" and "bossa nova." Do you think it might be just a matter of tempo? This song appears in vol.2 of Almir Chediak's 5-volume Bossa Nova Songbook, even though the word "samba" is right there in the title. Maybe he wasn't sure either.

Thanks Art. I think of bossa nova more as a separate sub genre of samba, the more intimate cousin. The tempo is certainly part of it but here are slow sambas and fast bossa nova tunes. Bossa nova borrows a lot of harmony (the A section of this tune is more or less Take the A train!) from American jazz and the vocals are much more in the crooner style than what you’d hear in traditional samba.
