When I saw the post for this one, I was immediately flooded with a bunch of great memories from all of the different kinds of poke cakes we'd eat when I was a kid. Not sure why folks stopped making these. They're the best, especially in the heat like we've had lately. Mom wasn't much of a sweet eater, but Dad was, and boy did she love making stuff for him, and boy did he love showing her how much he appreciated what she made. boston poke looks good and easy but I think I'd make a chocolate ganache for the top since I tend to complicate things. ty Talli Faye.

If you could add a package of cream cheese to the pudding and some whipped cream you'd probably give it that boost over the top for the needs more, expected more factor.

Yup, I can tell that cake did not meet your expectations. I have a recipe for Boston Cream Pies using a cake mix and it makes two. The filling is homemade, and butter is added to the canned frosting to make a ganache. That recipe will not disappoint, but it's fussier. The recipe is from one of those little recipe books I used to pick up at the grocery store checkout isle. Duncan Hines Spring 1992!! I have a few of those types of books and every now and then I still make something from them and call it a retro recipe! LOL!

I used tell my family i wanted the Boston cream pie for my Birthday because we didn’t have to turn the oven on. My birthday is in June and it was Sooo delicious 😋🩷

I’m a big fan of Boston Cream Pie and my two favorite doughnuts are Boston Cream and Apple Fritters. However I was thinking this could make a great Dulce de Leche cake. I'm wondering about a layer of sliced bananas between the yellow cake and the pudding (seal out the air so the bananas won't brown) and forget about calling it Boston cream. Chocolate over the top would be good tho.
