The greatest investors aren’t the ones you see on television or the internet every week, telling you which stocks you should buy,
In fact the best investors don’t even work in the financial centre of the world,
They want to be as far away from the clouded judgement of wall street as possible,
Such as in the sleepy town of Omaha, Nebraska, or as in the case with Seth Klarman, Boston, Massachusetts.
After not saying a word in the media for over a decade, the so-called Oracle of Boston, broke his silence on the investment philosophy he’s used to produce one of the best investment track-records of all time.
And how it applies in the current economic environment that he calls the ‘everything bubble’

It is always good to have a financial plan. I work with a portfolio manager and fixed income planner in the USA. The fixed income portion of your portfolio won’t simply serve as a buffer to the volatility of the equity portion but will provide legitimate income.

This is very true! A lot of people downplay the role of a financial planner until burnt by their mistakes. After my last job layoff, I had to stay afloat, hence researched for licensed fiduciary advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge and experience. My reserve fund of $225k has yielded nearly $1.3 million after subsequent investments so far.

Reading, research, patience and seeking guidance is the best way to approach or break into the market system. I have been inclined with CHRIS RYAN STEWART, a CFA whose experience and expertise speak for itself. I saw his take on risk management a couple of years back and I was amazed.

Market declines, soaring inflation, a significant increase in interest rates by the Fed, and rising Treasury yields all point to additional losses for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the present market turbulence? I'm still debating whether to sell my $125k ETF/Growth Stock portfolio.

Great vid, thanks Hamish. In the longer podcast version of this interview, Klarman mentioned that he thinks the correction from the Everything Bubble was the bear market of 2022, and we might just be in recovery phase from it now. He rated the investing opportunities he sees around at the moment as 4 out of 10 - better than for quite some time - which I thought was interesting to hear from the legendary investor. I made a vid about the interview myself recently!

These are fantastic takes, I was really hoping for my investments this year, but all my plans have been disoriented. I've been studying the market crashes and I realized some investors made millions from the recent 2008 recession and I was wondering if such success rate could be achieved in this present market. and the Federal Reserve taking a more hawkish approach to interest rates. Any recommendations?

US Banks are in trouble right here. They might be able to hide it for awhile with "creative accounting" but not forever... as we go forward and more people start to lose their jobs that mean even less of a demand for commercial real estate. Meaning the banks losses (especially the regional banks) will explode. We will see a massive deflationary period in everything. Really good if you are are 3 x leveraged short like I am. I just keep adding to my short position as the market goes higher and higher. Value investing is cool but not my style. I would rather bet against all this craziness... divided america, erosion of rights, banning of books, government officals insider trading etc. The thing that made america powerful was our unity that is gone. So I have no problems betting against the US (something warren buffet said to never do) in fact so much so that when I am loaded in 5 years. I am going to move out of the country. Please if you disagree with me tell all your friends and family to keep going long here. I am just getting better and better prices for my shorts.
@mikeflair6800
@mikeflair6800 Жыл бұрын
It is your opinion if you want to gamble...no one can predict short term price movements, but you will lose just over time like the day trader craze of yesteryear. The USA banks are not in trouble. If commercial real estate looks like it going to crack the camel's back, the FED will liquify and the USA stock market will explode upward, putting you shorties in my favorite position...a 'shorty squeeze'. The bulls are back, S&P ~ 5000 ate end of year.

I have a question and was wondering about your thoughts on it. How much understanding of accounting do you think one should have if they want to take the route of value investing (by that I mean cherry picking businesses individually but still thinking about the risks and creating a porfolio of issues). It's obvious that the more understanding of the topic you have the better but at some level you'd max out on your returns, and learning more and more about accounting would not be beneficiary. Also in this example the person has read a lot of literature on the topic of investing such as "The intelligent investor", "One up on wall street" and so on, and thinks they have the qualities of personal and behavioral nature described in them.
@sebfox2194
@sebfox2194 Жыл бұрын
Are you the person in this example? Personally, I think that a basic understanding of accounting is all that is required. Just enough to read the annual reports and get a decent understanding of the business' financial situation and cash flows. Most of the gains from investing come from having the ability to find high-quality businesses, value them reasonably accurately, buy them at the right time, and then hold them for the long term to compound gains. Accounting for investing is only a fraction of the valuation stage of the process. Therefore, having a basic knowledge of accounting seems like it is enough from my perspective. You certainly wouldn't want to spend a large proportion of your time on it, compared to developing the other skills and behaviours required.

so not only a few unknow investors beat the market(casino) now tell me.... how many can beat the real inflation decade after decade? also you "invest" bet all your money and at most get 7% return after taxes... so you invest 100% and can loose all of that and get less than 10 per cent of that for risking you money that you can always loose, that simple math makes it impossible to win all the time as it only one bad move can make you loose all your gains or wose all the money. inflation created by printing money from the banks are decided and secure for the banks.... also make wallstreet work so you make money but that money loose value........... and if you dont play there corrupted and crooked con artist piramid squeme you loose your money either way with inflation.... the so called free market can make increases in value to infinite because inflation is infinite.
