He revolutionized the art of ejecting players and coaches AFTER the game's already over. Truly a genius in his (in)field.
@MrFetchthestick
@MrFetchthestick Жыл бұрын
The ejection was unnecessary, but as a player why would you be so close to an ump that there is even a possibility of accidental contact? He was instigating a fight, and he got ejected 🤷🏻‍♂️ If there's a complaint about a particular referee, run it through the proper channels, don't throw a tantrum on the field.
@FightForLove2112
@FightForLove2112 Жыл бұрын
@@MrFetchthestick while you're right in spirit, unfortunately umpires are immune. The worst ones keep their jobs because of their union, and also because Baseball(TM) will not ever undermine the authority of the on-field umpire because they believe that is a bad thing. They believe that showing Solidarity with the umpires creates an illusion of integrity. In reality, fans and players will feel like the game has more integrity if the calls are ACCURATE, not INFALLIBLE.

@@FightForLove2112 Sure accurate calls are important, but this call wasn't so egregiously wrong that it was obvious immediately. Even our boy Jomboy had to slow it down to check. Players need to pick their battles, otherwise it just looks like bad sportsmanship.

Here is a comment from someone else who posted this video: Austin Glorius. 2 weeks ago Just so everyone knows. Our reaction was not based off the call. Yes it was a bad call, but games are lost all the time on the backs of umpires. It’s part of the game. This all occurred because Nate Caldwell (the umpire we “chased” down) had been chirping both dugouts all series long, making hand gestures and wagging his hat saying he was coming for our money. Complete power trip, let alone him throwing his shoe and acting like a child. The guy is known around the league for power tripping. No suspensions happened for players other than a few fines.

@scottboyd9383
@scottboyd9383 Жыл бұрын
really so no recourse for players after the game ends. They can do what they want. getting tossed does have repercussions. It goes on record that the player acted up. I guess mostly football players on here. I got mad at the umps in little league, I got mad at the umps in High School, I got mad at the umps in college. I got mad at the umps in winter league ball and also when I played for the Air Force in Europe. But I never acted up like these clowns no matter how bad the umps called. After my career I umped my sons league games for 15 years and it is a thankless job. People go crazy and get violent. people in sports are the craziest people on the planet. Every single ump of all time has made a bad call. And every single fan has pointed it out and trashed the ump but will not ever be an ump because they know they will get what they give. I dont know why anyone would be an ump in this level of play because obviously it was not controlled very well. I would have called the cops to restore order. i dont know how that didnt come to blows. That would never happen in the major leagues. One player yes but the entire team chasing the ref off...never happen. penalties would be too great
@phillyphakename1255
@phillyphakename1255 Жыл бұрын
@@scottboyd9383 I was in the band back in college basketball, and we would completely trash the refs during the game, for blown calls, for correct calls that went against us, everything. We even were on the front page of multiple newspapers across the country when an AP photographer picked up a particularly good shot of it. We shared the same parking garage as the refs, and would frequently see them when we were leaving the band hall, I've even shared a few elevator rides with them, and it was nothing but cordial. We know that what happens in the arena is our job, and that outside, we are all people, equally deserving of dignity and respect. They call the games, we hype up the crowd and players by providing energy and enthusiasm. We're professionals. Whenever a call like this ends the game, it's the refs job to get the fuck outta there. Good call, bad call, doesn't matter. The game is done, go to the separate locker room, let things cool down, let us return to being regular people again, instead of being in the hyper polarized and performative world of the stadium on the field or court or whatever. This ump didn't do that. He stayed out there, he picked a fight. Good call, bad call, it really doesn't matter, it's how you respond to it. When you are halfway down the tunnel, a good ref doesn't turn around just cause someone said something mean to you. Don't pick a fight.

@@elomellow1623 First argument was dumb but umpire throwing the guy out after the game was over was so stupid. Just shows he doesn’t want to deal with shit and will let a player take the bad end of the deal without much care. Not exactly the attitude you want from someone who’s supposed to make sure the game is run smoothly, they cant even remember when they’re supposed to eject players correctly.
