Here's a detailed video about driving a 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q4 sedan for 18 months and over 39,400 miles. Overall, this was a great car to drive for many long road trips and commuting to and from work. It had a lot of quirks and oddities, but it made it special to drive every day, and it never let you forget that you were driving an Alfa Romeo. Please place any questions or comments related to the video in the section below. I hope you enjoy this video!

So lucky! In North America 18,000-20,000km is normal for yearly driving so cars are harder to keep reliable. People drive a lot less these days due to pandemic though

I am interested in a 2018 or 2019 Ti, you made a pretty in depth review thanks. Most of the issues seem pretty minor, we bought a new Mazda years ago and the rear door catches would only last 2 Canadian winters, so this one seems pretty reliable. Most of the issues you had were also cheap for a car of this price range it seems.

Had a 64 Spyder a long time ago. Those were certainly simple times regarding the lack of computer technology which was a good thing. Alfas from the 60's , 70's now command prices as much or more than current offerings. Every once in a while since Alfa's became available in the states I think of buying a used one.. (on a mini mission the last couple of days). I've been aware of the problems with these and thanks for your vid for the reminder and I will continue to stay away. Nothing like breaking down on what is supposed to be a pleasant road trip --such a reality check.

I had a VW break down completely (had to be carried) 3 times: one complete engine failure, one injector failure and one fuel pump failure, and a 4th time where it wasn't complete failure but just the turbo which made it crawl with 40 km/h. The moral is, every brand has its lemons. The issues with Giulias are mostly solved by firmware updates and none of them actually stop you completely to get to your destination. Just be sure to check with your dealer to get all your updates from the start and you should be golden.

Definitely! Dealer giving updates and problems are resolved almost 90% . Only thing is yo go to dealer and check for update, for example mine 2018 giulia get 5 recall and i done all of them , now dealer told i have to get new updates for gearbox sofwtare 2023 program and engine module with no price ! So for sure this is very nice! For example I had sonata hybrid and they had recalled a lot of time but without real fix of problems. So the moral is that u choose car and it will have some problems no matter it is alfa or even lexus

I leased a 2017 Giuliani Sport in Michigan. I absolutely loved the car and still miss it, even though it was bought back by FCA under lemon law 10 months into my ownership. Mine had a lot of issues with the drive by wire system, worst was when the throttle pedal stopped responding entirely while driving on a busy street... three times. I hope those issues were fixed after the first year in the US. When it ran, though, I really loved it and I am looking lustfully at the newer examples hoping they are better. I agree with others, I nearly always turned off the start/stop function every time I started the car. It was annoying and I figured whatever infinitesimal amount of fuel I might save over a few years would pale in comparison to premature wear on an Italian starter motor. The other minority annoying issue was the drivers seat that always moved back when the car was turned off. There was no way to override this. I may been one of the few people who used the backseat often to carry my kids and this meant we rarely used the rear behind the driver if we could avoid it. Stupid and useless “feature.”

Hey BornToDrive! I am looking to trade in my 2019 BMW 330xi with only 10k miles because I can’t get enough of the Giulia’s Italian flair. My trade-in value is good because of the pandemic like you said. I would be picking up a new, loaded 2019 Giulia Q4 Ti Sport. Would you recommend me to go ahead and make this trade-in? I’m sure the Giulia drives better, but the interior/technology in my BMW is still ahead. Charcoal canister full of water equals , it is a freebie , IN YOUR FACE GUIDO !!! Nobody makes a car that has that manufacturing problem. In 2016 I went on a trip to Italy to test out the August release of the 2017 model AWD -DNA , I could only get the turbo diesel 2.1 to test out but as it turned out it was great , awesome in fact , and unless you really need 280hp , the diesel is a gutsy 177 hp and 331 lbft at only 1750 rmp ...that is enough to put a wide smile on your face while getting 14,2 mile per quart of diesel ..that translates to 60 mpg per 1, 2 gallons of diesel. The stop start system can be defeated by doing an old stationary break torque like in the old street drag days ..I did it out of Leonardo Da Vinci airport and it never did it again . But as far as I know it van be programmed out . I drove the car for solid month and had no issues of any kind other than a lazy hood release. I was ready to buy one ....NO DIESEL EXPORT FOR THE USA MARKET . Not interested in the gasoline version and being full blooded ITALIAN it was natural to say Affanculo all EPA ass wipes did not buy one and will not not after hearing stories like this one.In Italy however you do get the version that gives you ear to ear smile performance , economy , and reliability ...what a concept ? Naaa its too good for Americans , here you get to drive the junk that is made for these teaming shores ....hurray hurray for the ass wipes at the EPA!!!

Electronic issues plagued this car. Always needed an update to fix random issues. Sunroof failure. Sunroom failure. Window failure. Unlock issues. The panels and body of the car are super cheap. I constantly had a bumper issue. They are cheap and the precut holes hiding the tow screw hole for towing wouldn’t stay in. CPU would randomly reboot. Causing issues. Lost acceleration. It was some random part that went bad. There was a 60 day span that I had the car for less than 20 days. It was in the shop 5 times trying to find and fix issues. The car became unsafe and it was traded in. The Alfa dealership wouldn’t even give a reasonable offer on trade!!

I was in love with my Giulia and Alfa Romeo as a brand, however, I will never again buy/recommend another Alfa Romeo in my life. I had the brake by wire system fail on me and it caused me to crash and total the car. They sent someone from Bosch to diagnose the vehicle and in the charts it clearly showed that something malfunctioned (brakes were slammed 2 seconds before the impact at 40 MPH and it took more than 1.5 seconds for the speed to start going down.) Stellantis told me that they were not going to take responsibility for it and that I needed to have my insurance pay for the vehicle. Absolute garbage. I will never recommend this car brand to anyone again!

If the data clearly showed a brake failure why didn't you sue? You expected to come to a stop within 2 seconds? That requires 118 feet.

So many idiots on here saying "well VW, BMW etc are just as bad" As if that's an excuse to put up with poor quality. Annoying, they are the type of people who are happy to get ripped off because their mate Jim got ripped off and it was much worse.

Corolla is probably the most reliable car ever haha but the Corolla is an economy car. This is a different class of vehicle. Basically this pulls females, corollas never will (no matter how much guys “mod” them) 😂
