There are bowlers who use undrilled balls. Timo Toivonen bowls with a contraption that attaches to his wheelchair and bowls with it. He just rolls it down his ramp like this, so it does affect people, just not most people.

Doesn’t matter at all if the core is symmetric. Asymmetrical core is a different story.

@@remington1439 CG is not a factor unless you throw an undrilled ball exactly like this demonstration. other wise, what matters in ball conversations is how the core is aligned to your PAP. layouts adjust this alignment using pin and PSA locations. for symmetric, pin placement relative to your PAP is the important thing. for asym, the mass-bias (PSA) has more effect than the pin. once a sym is drilled, the thumb is the PSA (others mention this too) the guideline was CG on the left for lefty, CG on the right for righty. this was primarily done so if you wanted a weight hole or needed a balance hole, the ball would still be USBC legal. there used to be a 1 oz side weight limit so the CG placement moved weight to the side where the weight would be removed by one of these holes. the CG just marks the place on the ball that is of higher density (heavier) and it can vary from ball to ball. it can be close to the pin or far from the pin. on an asym, it can be left or right of the pin to PSA alignment.

If it’s a symmetric ball, the cg doesn’t matter.

I think it would then depend on the core design, as to how the weight is distributed. if more is towards the top (Thrill core), it will likely want to move in the direction of the pin. if more is towards the bottom (Venom Shock core), it will likely move opposite the pin. if it's balanced (Forge core) it might be the lanes that determine direction.

So you didn’t think it showed side weight has effect on a bowling ball initially? There’s a reason it says “part 1”

@@Tenpindoctors sure the effect at that slow of a speed. bring it up to a typical 15 to 17mph speed realistic of someone who would typically throw that ball the effects would be far less. Your part 2 of this is gonna be a better representation of the effect of the side weight of a ball.

no it doesnt. noone throws undrilt balls, so test is useless
