Harley Davidson M8 D&D billet cat vortex baffle vs big bore baffle sound comparison. In this video Chris Waddell from Cycle Solutions Inc. gives you an idea on the different sounds between the two baffles on the Harley Davidson Milwaukee 8. The standard D&D vortex baffle has a great sound all in its own. The big bore baffle is louder and a little more raspier then the vortex. We say go with whatever you like the most. 1st one sounds great, if you traveling listening to some loud pipes gets old, even with ear plugs and can get u pulled over if they feel like messing with you. That first is pretty sweet, better then stock sound plus performance.

I'm so glad I went with the Big Bore baffle. I think it sounds great. Bike sounds like a race car when I get on it and go.

jcg 56 I don’t even have the big bore and if your going on long rides go with the first one. At times mine can get annoying but I love it.

Any negative to performance with the BB baffle without a BB? I can get a slightly used Billet Cat with the BB baffle for a good price. I asked D&D and they just replied with a cut and paste from their website.

@@Its_Peck I was told to only do the Big Bore baffle if I had a Big Bore motor. I had one on my Stage 1 114 and I thought it ran good. I have one on my 131 and it runs great, 139TQ, 134HP. I was told by an engine builder that works with D&D that the Big Bore baffle works best with applications with around 150 HP/TQ numbers and if you expect less that the other baffle will perform better for the lower numbers. He said that he and D&D worked together to conduct these tests. Had he told me this before I bought this setup in March, maybe I would have gone with that baffle. But I don't have any regrets. If you are going to get a good deal, then go for it.

Just had a case up 124 built with all the good stuff. I told him I wanted the least loud baffle. The bike is ear piercing loud. How do I tell what baffle is in it ?

Most pipes and mufflers on the new bikes today have lost the old Harley Davidson sound. I have a brand new trike, almost one week old and if I make a change to the slip-ons, it will be American Custom Exhaust. They are the closets to the real HD sound.

Chris besides it being loud was there any performance gains swapping over to that muffler. I have the original on mine and I think it sounds great but would like a little more noise at idle but also would like to know if performance would increase. Mine is a 107 with an andrews cam, Technoresearch tuner and SE breather. It did 103hp and 116tq when it was on the dyno back in 17.

Unfortunately I can answer this for u, you’ll actually lose performance torque and HP with the new big bore baffle. If you like the way your bike is rolling performance wise I’d say stick to the vortex. People just want super loud bikes and these r very loud as it is but I’d say the torque isn’t worth risking

why thundermax over properly oem with TTS?

Probably tuners in his area.... Seems to be a more popular tuner on the east side. I initially ran a Thundermax on my bagger.... Im on the West Coast where really no one wants to deal with Thundermax..... Pulled and sold the stuff for a loss and went with TTS for my tuner to dial in my 124.
