Why would you feel bad? She wants a child that won't cost her hundreds of thousands in medical bills or be bullied every day of his life. She wants a child that looks like a child. Why is that so much to ask for you? Disabled people aren't stupid and they are aware of their disabilities, they know what they look like so please don't patronize.

Imagine that was your parents talking about you and your siblings like that, and then imagine getting older and searching up ur interview you did as a child, out of curiosity, only to find out ur parents couldnt see you without crying for a whole year and on top of that they call your sibling beautiful and perfect at birth. Imagine watching it and finding out that your parents said you almost didnt look human because your facial features, completely disregarding the fact that ur perfect in every other way besides ur face. Yea no wonder theyre getting all that hate, at least theyre in the boys life but come on they could have kept that to themselves and not say it on national televison for everyone to see, including their child.
@Gigi_Ouija5 жыл бұрын
They've obviously had the conversations with their son about how he looks, how they felt, etc. It doesn't do him any good to hide him from reality like that. He was forced to mature faster than other kids in regards to manners and rudeness from others. In order to cope with ANYTHING, you must talk about it. That's what these parents are doing. There's nothing wrong with that imo.
@s.f68515 жыл бұрын
I know that they did sound harsh and a little mean, but let's be real here and put ourselves in their shoes. I mean it was a shock for them to see their first child in this heartbraking condition knowing that he might die at any moment because of the syndrome complications and that if he did survive life is going to be hard on him and that it's going to take a lot of hardwork until he finally get to life as much of normal life as possible.
@peachycastlepeachycastle5 жыл бұрын
bibipeach6 I agree and it's almost like the parents planned to have another baby just to show everyone that they can make a " normal " baby and that it's not just their genes. I can't really word it well but you get what I mean
@yeiyei38695 жыл бұрын
I think it was good the parents said this. Now we as people can examine ourselves when we judge people. Believe me if you look at strangers and judge their beauty based off of appearance than one will do it to their own children. I hope these parents deal with their own perception and insecurities which they are projecting on their son. This happen so so often with parents though that it is almost embarrassing when heard or seen in public and tv
@sign5434 жыл бұрын
bibipeach66 - Imagine that you stop being so dramatic. Maybe you should stop “imagining” and actually do something to better the world. Reality doesn’t need any help...and we certainly don’t need people patronizing people with physical or other challenges. “Oh, you’re perfect and beautiful!” There is no such thing as perfect...and beautiful is subjective. We live in the real world, and the parents are being honest about the realities of having a child with special needs. My son was born with a club foot and had surgeries every year until he was 6 years old. We don’t “imagine” how he will feel later looking back. We do the right thing today by talking about real things, not pretending that he can win the olympics or the 50 yard dash. He won’t be able to do those things. We focus on the things he CAN do. Kids don’t need to be patronized with goofy falsities. He’s different in appearance, he knows it, his parents know it, so why pretend he’s not or that we have to ignore it?
@zoeanais65265 жыл бұрын
if my kid ever called anyone with facial deformities a monster, i’d go absolutely nuts. Kids need to know that everyone is different and you can’t use the way somebody looks against them, whether they learn it the hard way or not

I have no hatred towards these parents. Their reaction is 100% normal and understandable. I have yet to meet a parent who is not heartbroken by their child when they have severe medical/developmental issues. This never means they moved them any less than their typical developing child. Talking and expressing exactly how you feel is going to be more beneficial in the long run compared to keeping it in and bottling up emotions.

I have treacher Collins syndrome and I know my mum and dad were frightened when I was born at 27 weeks. I completely understand the parents thoughts and feelings even now. I have have 14 surgeries and I don’t look like I did previously. I don’t hate the parents I love the fact they embraced Nathaniel and kept him. They are loving parents

I felt bad they complained so much about their first kid and she even had another kid to see if he'd come out without the disease, not saying they don't love him but if I was watching my parents say all they said I'd feel sad.

Years ago, before I had heard of TCS, I saw a dad carrying a 2 or 3 year-old girl in his arms. She had this condition. When I saw her my heart broke, but then she looked straight into my eyes and she smiled. The transformation was the most beautiful thing I ever saw! I still get teary-eyed thinking of it all these years later. It was truly the smile of an angel!
