I was a single mother of 2 "children" and am now a grandmother. I am also a devout Christian. That's why I know that you can and should forgive everything, even if it's for your own sake, because our time on this earth is too short to hold on to anger and disappointment. But that doesn't mean we have to let people back into our lives who have hurt us so deeply. I know that as parents we make many mistakes over the years, both small and large, and we say things in the heat of the moment that we don't mean. But to abandon your child or throw them out the door when they need you the most and when you are most challenged as a parent is unbearable. So if I were Joleen, I would have said to the parents: "I forgive you, but before I let you back into my life or my daughter's life, I need some time to think about whether I want to. But most of all, you have to prove to me that you really mean it. " Let's be honest, they obviously live in the same city and the parents are not able to find out where their daughter is for 2 years? Even her rotten ex knew after a few months, maybe even before.
