Carstairs Junction Station & C.E. Sidings on 11th October 1991
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Carstairs Junction Station taken on 11/10/1991. Another early morning spent at this idealic location next to the WCML. Class 26035 busy reforming the Civil Engineers Sidings opposite and a rather quiet scene on the mainline. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. OMG! I was aboard the first train to pass your cam! I was up front of the 07.00 Glasgow Cen - Kings X, propelled by 91 031; the first day of my 14 day All Line Rover, I treated myself to a 1st Class Rover. Those were the days! My train - slowing to take the Midcalder line to Edinburgh - is closely followed by the 07.05 Glasgow - Euston; a slightly surreal timetable period when Glasgow was despatching two trains per hour to London for several hours during the day. This period also saw a big reduction in the interesting spectacle of most cross country services attaching/detaching their Edinburgh portions for diesel haulage to Edinburgh. The electrification of the Midcalder line and the introduction of HSTs on cross country services meant that Edinburgh despeatched its own direct Anglo-Scottish services. Another excelllent film, thank you for editing and posting this - much appreciated.

Thanks for posting this. My Dad used to work at the depot at Carstairs Junction. Some interesting rolling stock there. Brings back happy memories 👍

The track machine was a plasser and theurer Rm62 ballast cleaner

@@spompey there was about 6 different variations of the nose ends where the engine is i have seen on photos based in the ontrackplant depots in the UK
