Been watching for the past three weeks. I had gotten into some bad habits. Over the past two weeks I've raised my avg from 195 to 198 just incorporating some basics and keeping some of your tips in the back of my mind. This is a humbling sport, especially when things go sideways, thanks guys for these tips. They really help at all skill levels.

As a girl's high school coach, I'm rarely able to find videos that I can use. Not having the speed/power or revs, it's difficult to translate a Pro tip video for the girls. This one is different because you guys made it so simplistic. I can explain that stuff all day and it goes over their heads...they need a visual. Not only did you guys give me that for them with this, but now they can't just blame me for these drills lol They like to think the "one step" is something I invented just to be mean...thanks for bailing me out! 😉😂 Please keep in mind how many young girls you have the potential to help with your videos. If you can ever get one of the ladies to join in an instructional video, many of us female bowlers/coaches would appreciate it! Keep up the great work, Brad & Kyle!🤩

This is a pretty good exercise to get a feel for the release. When I was coached I practiced one step, two steps, three steps and then finally four steps. It also helps you learn about the momentum/pendulum swing, because the initial height and push off helps you learn about swing speed. I think I was originally taught one or two step in order to help me with my timing and drift more than anything... I was releasing the ball to early and drifting with 10 boards to the left while I walked, which I corrected. He might be a useful exercise to take video of the girls and watch the one step because it really should mimic your last step in the approach, so it does have more utility besides the cupping and release of the ball.

@@swickard1 JR Raymond recently did a series of videos where he discusses the power differences between men and women. One interesting thing he mentions is that a lot of the better women bowlers throw their ball-side shoulder forward. It doesn't allow them to stay under the ball. Hopefully that's helpful for you.

I grew up throwing rubber and my most consistent release was with my hand on the outside of the ball. As bowling balls changed to plastic, urethane, and reactive, I have had to change my release, as well. I have recently been fighting a tendency to yank the ball left and, after watching this video, I believe it's because I've reverted to my oldest release which is totally inappropriate for today's equipment. Can't wait to get to the lanes and work the no-step and one-step drills. Thanks for helping me, specifically, and for furthering this sport we love. You guys are terrific!!

This is exactly what my biggest weakness is. Been bowling for the majority of the past 30 years, but I was never coached. As a result, I developed A LOT of bad habits due to being a "feel" bowler. I've been attempting to focus on my release, specifically hand position, and have been struggling big time. Like to the tune of ~30 pins under my average. This video has a couple great pointers that I'll try to apply. Thanks, guys -- keep up the great work and content!

Great drills. If I try to ramp up speed (and or revs) I tend to out speed my revs and miss at the 3 pin. So control is a factor in my game.. and feeling the hand roll it, with it finishing on the left side of my head.

I learned to bowl from my dad in the late 60's with his Ebonite Tornado solid rubber ball. When I went back to bowling 7 years ago and bought a reactive ball (new to me!) the pro shop guy taught me the side release. Now, the ball is "dead" (won't hook) and the change in release is something that doesn;t work for me. I've tried. When I first bought the reactive ball it would hook no matter what I did. (Of course, it was a real wood lane house). I'm just stuck now. Have plans to get a new ball eventually but the local shops are slow ordering and drilling. The beat goes on, I suppose Thanks. Great videos from you B&K!

It has been a few months since bowling centers in Delaware opened and already 4 weeks of Sunday night mixed league, and I'm still struggling with hooking the ball. According to things my dad has told me (he's been bowling so many years and knows more than I do), he notices that I am still 'spinning' the ball. If there is ever an opportunity for me to have an in-person coaching session with Brad and Kyle, I would not turn it down. I want to get better despite all the frustrations I have been going through the past few weeks. On the plus side, my average finally went up last week by 7 pins, so that's a small step in the right direction.

Very difficult learning process especially without proper coaching. But when the Bulb eventually comes on the feeling of the release and watching the ball actually roll down the lane correctly feels great. You will be like OH, that’s what I’m supposed to be doing. But they are right it takes a while to grasp the concept because it’s uniquely different. You almost have to snap the ball from your hand to clear the thumb right away. Then apply twist, torque, or rotation before your fingers leave the ball. All while stepping, swinging, aiming, and releasing the ball. There’s quite a lot of necessary steps to execute properly before chucking it down the lane. But it’s fun when you finally figure it out like every thing else. It just mechanics, mathematics, algebra, momentum, energy, transverse and linear targeting, perception, processing and coordination.

@baze3SC
@baze3SC 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not the one who you asked but I think in the long run it's better to develop your own strength. There are also two other factors, the PBA ban on wrist devices and the fact that the modern ball release doesn't quite work when the wrist is firmly locked. Unless you suffer from injury don't fall for this. Even weaker players can do it, it's just a matter of getting used to it. Also consider that the ball would have to be drilled specifically for this purpose.

Back when I bowled alot I had had like a 1/2 a backswing rather than long backswing. Now that yall brought up the inside out situation, I realized that I was always on the outside of the ball. When you're on thr outside of the ball you have no control from really dropping the ball with a high backswing. Correct me if I'm wrong

I just started to hook a couple of months ago. I hand the standard length holes for a club ball. But now I just drilled for the shorter finger length. But I am finding myself curving way to to the left. Am I releasing to late or maybe now I can curve easier and I am just doing too much. it seems like I only have to twist my wrist a tiny bit to hook now. Maybe I am missing something.

I paused the video and went shopping and out for dinner. Kyle was in that position four hours. LoL
