I have to say thank you to Brad and Kyle for this video. I'm a 155 average bowler, still trying for my first 200 game. I saw this video on Friday and at practice today I used this method and scored a 229!! Thank you again. Your videos are great and very helpful for tips and advice!

That's amazing!!! Congrats!! I used to be a 162 bowler, 40 years ago. I just started bowling again and just found this channel. Keep up your great work! Thank you Brad and Kyle!! I really enjoy watching your videos and trying to apply your suggestions. I've been bowling once a week the past 2 months and bowl 4 games. I am very inconsistent but missed a 200 last Saturday by 1 pin :(! I need to be more balanced when planting my lead foot. Many times, I feel my release is not where it should be. I averaged 150 in those 4 games last week but had 3 games around 130 The week before I had 2 games of 176 out of the 4. So I am probably averaging around 140 or so in the past 2 months. One week I did average 160 for the 4 games. I definitely want to improve my release and consistency before joining a league. I am going to try the 2 tips from this video. I'm hoping these 2 techniques improve my consistency. My ball is an Ebonite 16 lb ball from 40 years old. I do not throw a hook. Eventually, I want to buy a new ball and learn how to begin hooking it, but do not feel I am ready for that. Great job again!!!

This has changed my (bowling) life. 220 avg bowler was struggling the last 4 months to hit 600 series. Made this change and game 3 was 289, then 255. My track moved 1" closer to my finger grips and ball reaction is much more predictable. I am excited to bowl again which has been missing for a while. Thanks Kyle!

Kyle explains things so well and doesn't get into technical jargon for people. You can already see a huge difference in rev rate in Dennis' shots just after a few throws. Some people just have a knack for coaching and Kyle definitely has it.

Coming from a baseball background the fact he emphasizes “feel” is so important. Translating words into a feeling that someone can recognize is what make a coach great.

Also the fact Dennis knows what he needs to work on is a big point too. When the student knows enough to recognize a problem that’s a huge step

It's important to remember when improving/changing mechanical aspects of your game, that you WILL take a step or two back in terms of your individual game scores when you compete. At some point though, it will click, and you'll be a little bit better than you were before. I know from experience...

i definitely have to try this to see if it changes anything for me. i like how you give us the V to help hold the ball better, and it gives us something to aim to attempt to maintain the hold throughout the throw. the release with a push into the lane at the end sounds so different than anything else ive been told(release into a handshake) so im sure it will change things up a lot

My friends and I picked up bowling just as a fun little weekly past time where we can hang out and have a good time. 6 months in we got bored of throwing it straight and started to practice hooking the house balls. Now almost a year later we each bought our very own balls, ball bag, and shoes. First day throwing the new balls one of the regular league players comes up to us and tells us how painful it was watching us try hooking with the house balls for the past few months and we all had a good laugh. This video helped me be better at it. So thank you.

Heck yeah. This is one of the things I am currently working on. I've been bowling fairly consistent for over 2 and a half years now, and in all this time I have yet to get Rev. This was soooo informative. His release is exactly like mine, so it is good to see what how he was able to progress and Ill be certainly trying this “fix” to work on mine. My problem is if I try and stay behind the ball I don’t get the ball speed I need.
@SirJoelsuf1
@SirJoelsuf1 11 ай бұрын
That's actually a good thing if you don't get the ball speed you think you need if you are THIS speed dominant. Judging by Dennis' first release his RPMs are 175 to 225 with his ball speed at 15 to 16 MPH (at the pins). That is incredibly speed dominant. In order for him to have optimal motion he'd need to slow down to about 13ish MPH.

This is a great video. I appreciate your example of the "V". I've had coaching before, but was told to "just do this, just do that", and it never translates. Really considering the coaching program. I'm like Dennis, currently a spinner with a low track and I need to know the feel as opposed to just doing something. I need that Brad and Kyle Butter roll to get to the next level.

Man, this video is exactly what I needed to see.. I have a 181 average and I release from the side like this. I have tried so hard to keep my hand behind the ball but my hand just goes to the side from either habit, muscle memory or whatever. It would have been nice to have his Specs, Rotation, Tilt, Ball Speed Front and Back, and Revs and compare they if he able to make progress to see the dif. I’ll apply more of this next weekend. Such an interesting motion of the wrist to flex back or yo-yo...and when Dennis tries it, you can see it going from a spin biscuit to being up the back. If you have a strong wrist and understand how to leverage power, you can really rip the ball with revs

When coming from behind the ball, the key is to get the thumb out early. This is done by holding the ball with the base of the thumb with the shaft of the thumb bending backwards. This promotes early thumb removal with the bottom of the swing and delivery entirely on the fingers. With this delivery, the arm can remain straight and stable, with a free swing, with plenty of revs and pin action.

I'm really glad you talked so much about "feel." I've had several practices where I was absolutely sure I was coming up the back of the ball at release, because it "felt" like I was; but then I'd watch the recordings I made I and discover that I was still coming over the top of the ball instead of staying behind it. That "feel" was still more familiar than what I was trying to do. I found that I really have to exaggerate the feel of coming up the back of the ball in order to actually do that. What helped me develop the proper feel was deliberately throwing backup balls for several frames, just to get my mind to adjust to having my elbow in and my hand almost dead center and below the ball. It felt really, REALLY awkward for a couple of weeks, but now it's almost (almost!) second nature. The "V" thing makes a lot of sense. I've heard Norm Duke talk about that, too. It really makes a difference! Great video, guys!
