Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) organizes a proper send-off for a veteran officer who has finally decided to retire. Meanwhile, Nolan (Nathan Fillion), Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) and Bailey (Jenna Dewan) arrive to serve a warrant on their serial killer/arsonist suspect, Bailey's captain. I missed him on SWAT as Jeff Mumford. He retired there and here on The Rookie. It was a great call to make Bradford announce his retirement. Best show ever. 🙌❤

This is really cool, normally in reality although this is a show for entertainment purposes, the retiring officer would transmit his/her End of Watch on the radio. Followed by the dispatcher and other fellow officers who’d like to say congrats and happy retirement.

to be honest, i´d rather NOT have that scene at all (the hug i mean) , it just feels stupid and out of nowhere right now. If the creators don´t want them together , that´s fine, just don´t put stuff out there and then forget about it completely, it just ruins their characters story IMO.

The only thing that confuses me is how does he only have 2 stripes when he has been there for almost 44 years, whereas Seargent Grey has been on the force for 27 I think and he has 3 stripes and the other thing.

Oh I checked the stripes but turns out if you can see his sleeves, he has a lot of stripes (I noticed cause he was wearing a longer sleeved uniform and that’s where I found the other stripes that denote how longs he’s been in service).

Yea, I'm one who does not. I socializes our culture to believe male and female workers will often have a romantic relationship. It would have been really healthy to show them as solid friends who kept a solid line around that. And also, when any significant relationship ends there is huge damage to the social structure around that relationship. Work place social groups and friend networks are often divided. And it was a dust covered crusty groaning cliche in this show. Many of the people shipping them would freak out and go straight to HR if a co-worker asked them for a date.

As Tommy said. Being a supervisor isn’t for everyone. It’s hard to move up to management when you’ve been “one of the troops”. Also, you don’t just get gifted a supervisor rank. You have to pass exams, etc. Some people just don’t want the responsibility.

Great retirement scene. Heartfelt. Now, a bit of reality. An explosion that big would mostly likely have killed or seriously injured anyone as close as they were. It's not the shrapnel flying, it's the blast wave and concussion from the explosion.

Whatever issues I may have with how the cops do things overall, I have deep respect for anyone who wore the badge and upheld the ideals behind the oath. There *are* good cops; they're - unfortunately - the exception to the rule.

He referring to when Bradford calls everyone over for the End of Watch callout. It's usually reserved for when an officer dies either through illness or in the line of duty. Though I don't if the same applies to a retiring officer

ok time for a series of stupid questions. i preface all of this by saying i respect good cops, firefighters, paramedics, and other first responders and am just curious. i am NOT trying to be dispresectful. if i am i apologize in advance for my stupidity and ignorance as that was not my intention. first question. is this normal? or is this hollywood glitz? cause if it is normal for cops that gett to take off the uniform by choice that's cool. if it's not maybe we should have something special for them too. i know they do an end of watch at a funeral for an officer that's died in the line of duty, and i understand in some precincts they also do for retired officers that have died. like i said if this is hollywood glitz cool maybe departments ought to think about it anyways. if it's not, cool anyways . second question do firemen and other first responders get a end of watch call when they've died in the line of duty? and if not why? or do they do something just as cool and special? please respond if you know the answer to these questions and try not to be to harsh............

others can add their own information but: 1. most of the time, if an officer retires by choice(like in the clip) the dispatch or a fellow officer will do a final sign off for them with some words. I have seen videos of non LEO family members doing it also. even K9s will get a final/end of watch call 2. firefighters also get an end of watch upon death in line of duty, but idk about retirement time but i dont see why they wouldnt. military also get a version of end of watch called "final call/roll call" where they will do a roll call for the MIA/KIA service members at their funeral. if you look up videos of fire fighter/police/military/etc. final calls and there are many many clips. hope this helps!
