I see some confused by the whole "Jackson turned his camera on/off" bit, so let me try to explain it. They kind of explain it earlier in the episode when Doug and Jackson had their man to man chat. Not sure how it works but the body cameras are ALWAYS recording, however if they are not "on" then I believe the footage is pretty quickly deleted, not viewable, and unrecoverable. What they say in the episode is as soon as the camera is switched "on", all footage from 2 minutes previous to the second its turned on is now saved and viewable. So it was off, but the second Jackson hits the on button, his last 2 minutes are now able to be reviewed and saved, including him seeing Jackson getting tuned up, and not interfering. I believe this is done for a few reasons. First is technological limits, as in just having them always recording isn't feasible based on storage capacity and battery life, let alone privacy concerns. Second is to ensure cops are on their best behaviour, while its not "on" it could be at any moment, and catch stuff you did when you knew it was off, so act accordingly. Third is procedural, some times it might be off and cops suddenly witness something without time to turn it on, if they can do that right after seeing something and know its captured still, it becomes crucial evidence.
@MidnightHeir3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I legit didn't get this.
@jarowan3 жыл бұрын
By definition, if the camera only starts recording when you switch it on, it's going to miss whatever it was that caused you to turn it on. You heard/saw/got a call about something and thought 'oh, i'm going to need to record this.' This way, if you get shot at or threatened or someone shouts something ugly to you, once you click the cam, it has already recorded that thing. This way, it's always available if something happens, but if nothing happens, it never goes anywhere and gets erased.
@amf51713 жыл бұрын
IRL, the cameras only get all video (no audio) captured 30 seconds prior to turning it on, and the switch he activated is the actual power switch, not the “record” button, but pretty much yeah that’s how it works.
@stanleyprasanna71193 жыл бұрын
Thank you
@iangraham68873 жыл бұрын
the cameras are constantly recording even when turned off. theyre just set to delete the footage recorded after 2 minutes to save memory. when the officer presses the button, the recording from 2 minutes ago is saved and everything up to the present circumstances are saved for review.

@@ryonhatcher4561 I agree he is awful and racist. But, and I think it's an important thing the show mentioned, it's important to remember HOW he became that way. It's not enough to identify the bad officers and remove them, but also to understand HOW they became to be the way they are. I guarantee most bad cops weren't always that way, they are the culmination of their experiences, even if they arrive at the wrong conclusion. In this case, being a patrol officer in one of the most violent gang neighborhoods in LA in the 90s. He clearly needed a measure of therapy after everything he experienced. As a white guy that grew up 3 blocks from Cabrini Green in Chicago in the 80's and 90's, I can tell you it could have been very easy to become a racist, intolerant asshole if I hadn't been surrounded by loving, accepting people.

@@ShredPenguins Maybe, but that doesn't justify what he did to the People he attacked in the past three Episodes. He attacked a Kid who was just minding his own business, listening to Music. He arrested a Woman who was handing Guns over to the Police from her Ex-Husband, granted I can see how that's illegal, but still. In this Episode, he was about to beat up a Lawyer, who didn't even do anything illegal. The Lawyer was just showing his friends the Engine in his Car. I can understand what you’re talking about and yes, some People are bad, because of bad experiences. But, there are times, where people can be bad, simply because it'seither all they knew or just because they want to. Not saying that Stanton wanted ro be bad, he just has the bad habit of stereotyping People and judge Books by their Covers. Let’s hope Stanton's Kids don't inherit their Father’s sense of judgement.

Brandon Routhe is wild, he so flawlessly dual'd two very distinctly different characters in almost the same filming periods, because, he does such a good job her in getting you to hate and despise him, but hes so lovably nice and goofy in Legends of Tomorrow.

Love the little special effect they gave, flipping Stanton's body-cam on like it was the Hammer of God.

It's amazing how Routh can play both a guy we love and a guy we hate. Very talented actor

I was use to happy bubbly Ray Palmer. Then this show introduced him as Mr. Nice guy telling West that he is his partner rather than just his TO. Then the switch when he is talking to that one kid. Caught me off guard after expecting him to keep being tye nice guy.

Sgt. Grey played by Richard T. Jones is one of the greatest underrated actors today, ABC's The Rookie revived and uplifted his career after playing in one of Tyler Perry's movies.

Brandon Routh is and amazing actor and his job of making everyone hate his character was great. its hard to do that sometimes to be the bad guy even though you may not want to be the bad guy. great job Brandon great job

What a great piece of writing and TV, a fantastic way to use the popularity of the show to send a message and do it so well. Not all cops are the same, not all black people are the same, not all white people are the same there is inequality surrounding us and people need to stand up to it in the right manner and we need to stand shoulder to shoulder with them when they do no matter our race.
