wow, I totally forgot that was Carmen on the drums in this! and yeah literally everything you named off is an important part of the evolution of rock music and so many other things. he was such an amazing drummer and I forget where but I saw him about 3 weeks ago in an old KZfaq footage but it was in color and it had pretty good shots of him with longer hair and a beard and everything just going absolutely nuts on the drums. I just can't remember the context. he was wonderful.

OMG! Everytime I hear this song I think of my 5 and 6 year olds back in 1989 🤣 They had the most beautiful playhouse at my parents house with electricity and all. They found a portable turntable in the garage and played their story book records on it. One day I came outside to the sound of "Do You Think I'm Sexy" playing loud from their playhouse. I caught them dancing and singing like no body was watching. They had once again snooped in the garage and found a box of old 45's that belong to my brother. Now they're 39 & 40 and we laugh so much to this day when we think of this song 😁

I know exactly what you mean, Lex. I was 12 when this came out and my 'girl friend' and I would sing this to each other, but back then it was all in fun, and no one really thought about it, and though we knew the words and sang it to each other, neither of us even thought or knew of the actual connotations of what we were actually saying lol. Back then, we just didn't think 'that way' lol

I watched the ball drop at Times Square with Dick Clark on the TV New Year's Day 1979 and a few minutes after, this video came on. I think this was Rod Stewart's attempt at cutting a disco song. A successful attempt, since it went all the way to #1 on the charts in many countries. My mom caught a glimpse of Rod on the TV and thought he was "gross". I got a kick out of her reaction.

In Scotland, when I was young, we used to cringe at this and some of his other songs, especially as Rod Stewart is half Scottish, with his Dad being from here. One of his passions is Glasgow Celtic football club and he is here often. He also likes mixing with the public. He was recently photographed behind a bar in Glasgow serving drinks to people and he is often in a pub here in Paisley too. I used to hate this song and others from him too, but I kind of like it now. It's that old nostalgia factor. He is very popular here and performs often. He puts on a great show too. In fact, he was the first person to perform at my workplace, The Hydro in Glasgow with 4 sold out gigs. There's a short promotional video of the opening night here on KZfaq. Just search for 'Hydro Opening Night' and you'll see it. He will be back again soon. Æx 🙏

Disco had such a stranglehold on the music scene in the late 70s that even rockers like The Rolling Stones(Miss You), KISS(I Was Made for Loving You), and The Grateful Dead(Shakedown Street) felt pressure to make a disco song to stay relevent.

True. But I think of it as adding disco elements to appeal to the mainstream rather than pure disco. Miss You is often sighted as an example of the Stones going disco but the song is more similar to Earth, Wind & Fire’s Kalimba Story from their 1974 album Open Our Eyes.

Rod Stewart hardly seems like the type of guy who'd enjoy playing with model trains, but he has a huge setup of them in his mansion. This was in his funky '80s phase. Yeah, I was 14 when this gem hit the airwaves. We had this and “Young Turks” on 45. My mom was a huge Rod Stewart fan. The dude’s fugly but he always got chicks. My favorite song of his is “Forever Young,” and “You’re In My Heart.”

Well, Crow! I remember when this song hit the radio stations. My little brother asked me if I had heard of this new guy Rod Stewart and the song, Do You Think I'm Sexy?? I responded, "For the love of Joro! Who do you think that was that often could be heard wailing Maggie May(If you two haven't listened to Maggie May, you really should. It was before he did this. This song, to me, when he changed. I stuck with his older music.) behind my bedroom door before you would loudly come blasting through, slow motion, I might add, pretending to be the six million dollar man, Bonnie Tyler? (Not everyone will get that innuendo) It ages me Haha! Regardless, Rod Stewart has a unique voice, for sure.

When I first heard this song, I just had to go to the record store to get the single. I played it so much, I wore the grooves down (now I'm showing my age) lol

I think this song was big on TikTok about a year ago, give or take. If memory serves, even Rod Stewart and his wife did a dance to it on there last Christmas or something.

this reminds me so much of the roller skating rink when I was a junior high. this song was constantly on the radio over and over and I grew to really hate hearing it but it really is a good song. I haven't heard in a long time so I enjoyed it. but I mean the girls love going out there and showing off on the roller skates and so some of the guys did too. I would only go out there for I don't know, little more intense things. but this song was definitely baby making music ultimately.
