I'm not a hair care professional, but I think using a mild shampoo that isn't too strong or irritating on the scalp would be good for everyday wash. (It's worth looking into it more yourself if Brad doesn't do a video on it!)

You can look into "no poo" routines, basically you use a super light weight silicone free conditioner instead of shampoo. If you have a dirty job you can mix in shampoo 1-2 x a week too to get the icky feelings out. Using hair masks to return moisture can help too.

I would recommend that you use ph balanced water (the cleanest, softest water available to you), not super hot water, and DONT use shampoo every time you wash. If you're washing every day I would just use water or apple cider vinegar every couple days between shampoos. Hope this helps, xo

This has become an ongoing thing with seemingly every single hair care product now makes peoples hair fall out "supposedly". Until somebody shows some proof about any of these allegations, putting out this "they have been sued by somebody" BS is just spreading rumors (oh, and btw anecdotal evidence is not proof, it’s not even really evidence). I just learned about the lawsuit and have been experiencing hair loss. I had changed my diet, taken supplements everything but my hair still fell out like CRAZY. Finally dawned on me, maybe it's my shampoo conditioner. I had just started trying out the OGX stuff (the Renewing one in the blueish bottle) and that one ingredient in the lawsuit is in there. It's called DMDM Hydantoin. It's a preservative that releases formaldehyde over time. Supposedly "safe" levels, but it's formaldehyde AND that ingredient is used in A LOT of conditioners. Not everyone is sensitive/allergic to it, but if you're experiencing hair loss for no reason.. check ingredients on your hair care products! The easiest thing to do is to just change your shampoo and conditioner (and any other products you might use) That ingredient should NOT be used though. Even if some people might not be allergic, formaldehyde can still cause cancer. I switched to different shampoo and conditioner free of that ingredient and haven't had any abnormal hair loss. Just hoping the hair I lost will grow back

i suggest watching dr drays video on pantene’s lawsuit which is the same situation as ogx’s, formaldehyde releasers do not cause hair loss and damage to the scalp. they can cause irritation to those who already have a formaldehyde allergy, for which you can go to a dermatologist and get diagnosed.

basically, if you are not already allergic to formaldehyde, it is NOT going to cause you hair loss, and so far the people with these claims have not been tested for an allergy, so we cannot even attribute their supposed hair loss to this preservative.

@mojokg13
@mojokg13 2 жыл бұрын
Hairdresser here. It's actually counter productive, there are many sodium and alcohol based chemicals in this shampoo that the argan oil is almost redundant at this point, to get real conditioning benifits from argan oil its best to invest in cold pressed pure argan oil. Apply to dry hair (length and ends) leave few hours and wash out with a mild shampoo then condition. A few drops can also be used as a leave in treatment before styling.

Leaving the shampoo in - I was recommended to do this when the shampoo has active ingredients. Massaging it in cleans the hair, letting it sit on your scalp will allow the other ingredients (allegedly) to actually do something on your hair instead of just being washed out. Also, I noticed it can help breaking down the dirt and oils - as in, when I leave the shampoo in my hair is cleaner than if I had just shampooed and rinsed (which makes me need to shampoo a second time). For the cotton towels, they definitely can damage or give you a bad hair day depending on your hair type 😂 cotton towels on my wavy hair mean frizz all week long, and I am not at all aggressive with the towel.

@@Hershe264 Yes most shapoos do contain those chemicals to make it soapy these are called surfactants. but these chemicals are not necessary to clean your scalp. the soapiness of these shampoos is just an indicator to let the user see that their hair is getting cleaned. but nowadays there are many sulfates and surfactant-free shampoos being released, these are not gonna be harmful if left in the hair. just because these shampoos don't have the chemicals that make other shampoos soapy doesn't mean they are any less effective. they just do not really have a visual indicator that your hair is getting cleaned.

I leave my shampoo on for five minutes, regardless of whether it’s purple shampoo or not, because I personally feel it doesn’t get clean enough when it’s a quick wash. I do this for my 5 year old son’s hair as well, because I noticed a sweaty head smell after washing, but leaving it on a few minutes completely cleans the smell away every time!

Hey Brad Mondo!! Love what you do. I am a wavy-haired (2b/2c) girl. I really enjoy listening to your recommendations. Between the blessedly-patient lady who takes care of my hair, you and the wonderful lady from the "Deeper than Hair TV" channel, I love how you all help me accept my curls. The lady who does my hair pencils in between 4 and 5 hours for me to be in her chair. In that time she can change the way I am feeling about myself. I like that all y'all are honest and won't recommend (or do) things to clients' hair that will cause damage (and regret). I just want to tell you I appreciate the work you all do to learn the chemistry and learn the techniques - and have an innate ability to see beneath as to what is going on with your clients. Much love to you all and others in your field that have a gift you probably don't really think about. 💗💗💗

video idea? when you talked about breanna using a different type of hair oil in the summer than the winter, i thought it would be cool to see a breakdown of what different climates/weather types do to hair and what people could do to manage their hair under those conditions (or maybe even figure out how to work _with_ the weather to make their hair even better). like, what if it rains a lot where someone lives? what if it's hot? what if it's cold? what if it's dry? any suncare advice? i think that would be a very informative video.

Manic panic fades too quick and is way too expensive even for touch ups. Artic fox has great intensity, but too strong on the fragrance. Also expensive and bleeds onto everything even after rinsing for like 20 min. I use adore for this reason. Great price, good fade, not the most conditioning on it's own, but for touch ups (mixed w/ conditioner) I love it.
