Here's a quick HOW-TO on changing your main tail light bulbs- brake light, OR turn signal, OR the whole housing. AMAZON links below:

Tools Needed:
- Rag
- 8mm driver or socket
- Small flathead screwdriver
- 3M double sided tape/ Scissors
The trickiest thing here is getting things to line up properly during the reinstallation process. Make sure to tuck electronics out of the way of the posts and sockets on the lamp housing and car body.

Very simple. Had to replace whole assembly and followed instructions. Everything fell into place and this was on a 2017 Escape which was a little different because of connector. If you're not a complete idiot, you can adjust what you are seeing to what you see.

I learned a great trick from the body shop guy at my local dealer when mine had to be replaced. It was tough to remove, so he used green painter’s tape and put about 4 or 5 16” pieces on the side with long 8” tails hanging off. He used that as a handle and popped the light assembly right out.

I feel like my escape has had a pretty good life of being the testing guinea pig for making a lot of these videos so I'm usually ok with trying something new... however...when these light assemblies are stuck and a lot of force is put on them, I do worry about the wire harnesses underneath which experience the violence of when it finally breaks free! The tape seems like a pretty neat way to go about it

Just used this painter’s tape trick when replacing the brake lights. Much easier than when I replaced the turn signal and pulled on the housing the hard way - thanks!

I can't seem to get it to re-seat properly. I confirmed the two prongs are lined up and the front clip is in the slot of the white button but still doesn't want to slide in all the way. Any ideas what could be holding it up? Thanks.

A 5/16 driver works too if you don't happen to have an 8 mm

In my research I found that in 2020 they changed the brake light housing. You'll see only one screw holding it in, and instead of pulling it back, you push it outward. You'd snap off the retaining rods if you pushed it backward.

Have you heard about "Redline Tuning" Hood Quick Lift struts to replace the hood holding rod with struts?

I have! I think the kit looks slick- only drawback I've seen so far is that it mounts to the same.scrws that hold the cowl to the engine bay so if you use the cowl removal method for battery access thats the only pain point. I think its great though- would love for some lift assist and not having to work around the hood strut with normal engine work:) do you have it?!?! I would like to know your take on it if so!

No, I don't have it yet. Still researching. If you go to redlinetuning,com you can see the package is bolted to the hood hinges and an existing bolt location behind the headlight housings. You do have to drill a hole in the hood hinges. I really would like to discontinue the silly hood post used now. Just wondering if you saw it and if you would be willing to test it out...?

Hey Rahrena, I got the kit and installed it today. It is SWEET! Not too big a job. Hood opens on it's own and farther than with the silly hood strut. I don't have all the filming equipment that you have or else I would have shown that... Anyway, they sell on Amazon so if you do yours maybe you could include a link for that too. Just wanted to let you know and thanks for all you do on KZfaq!

Has anyone made any aftermarket or tinted tails for our 2014 era Escapes?

Hi John! I HAVE seen some people get the Kuga tail lights and mount them in our North America Escapes- they look pretty slick. Haven't seen a factory tinted TL, but I imagine there has to be some aftermarket options out there too- probably LED... I'll do some research :)

My parents have a 2015 ford escape se fully loaded and I like the escape and as my first car I bought back in April of this year got a 2014 ford escape titanium 2.0 ecoboost with 50,000 kms the only option I am missing is the panoramic moonroof which I did not care about

@@nicholascarioti6623 hah! Yeah it is strange that that feature isn't always on the docket but sometimes it's a blessing in disguise. Some people have had the piano roofs leak and they are riskier for carrying things on the roof of stuff shifts off the cross bars and falls on the glass. We use ours all the time and its certainly nice but there are a lot of awesome features on these cars even if they're 6-8 years old :)
