The 6th Gen COPO's with the same motor run 8.80s at 154 on the Factory base tune. With a little tweaking and trans-brake those cars get into the 8.50s at 163mph. With some blueprinting and specialized low-friction coatings on engine internals and a newer SuperCharger the 6th Gen COPO's are running in the 7.90s..... Amazing speed from a simple LS combination that isn't exotic by any means, just tried and true strong hardware.

Geeze..8.97 ? How unbelivable can it be when the Ford factory Cobra Jet Mustang runs 8.50 all day long and holds the NHRA factor production class ET record at 7:84 at 180 mph...with only a 5.4 liter engine. And how many cc's is a 427 cubic inch LS motor in the COPO Camero? ..7.0 liters. LOL

@Johnson Brandon, at least the recalls are for things that were built wrong and got fixed. Unlike Found on road dead which is a normal thing in Ford. There's no recall to that, their recalls are on other things, which they too have recalls you know

+Sir Farquat What the Copo has is reliable though, and I doubt the 7.0 liter is because it needs it, but rather for looks and other things. the power it has is reliable, its not gonna constantly break down like found on road dead ford

Humberto Mariscal sure ford has recalls too but where I live I haven't seen many fords broken down only one crappy mercury villager and thats it, Chevy I've seen many of them on the side of the highway I'm not hating on chevy they make some cool ass cars like the Corvette, 6TH GEN CAMARO, and the sleeper SS is pretty nice too.

LS...new tech pushrod engine, someone explain to me how you are arguing about comparing Ford modular blocks are in any way like the LS engines. car manufacturing are all part of SAE so new technology can be somewhat similar to be in compliance with emissions, fuel economy, etc. And yeah, notes are shared to a certain extent

Well sort of..... but this IS NOT an old LS-1 based motor. It's more like a smaller displacement version of the LS7 that is built on the cast Iron LSX Block with LS7 Aluminum Heads. The Super Stock and Stock Eliminator Classes are based on several rule sets based on weight, engine size, forced induction or all motor. The smaller displacement engines 5.3L or 5.7L can be supercharged, while the larger displacement engines 7.0L 427 are N/A (Naturally Aspirated) running a Holley EFI Tunnel Ram set up. The 6th Gen COPO's are more refined and have up to 4 engine options from GM 327 / 350 / 396 / 427 , but the 350 SC and the 427 NA are the two engines GM shows on their COPO web page and are the most popular.

Water to air intercooler I cubes cool the intake charge. The cooler the air going in the more power it makes.

All the Factory built drag race only hotrods leave with their wheels in the air. The Copo, Cobra Jet and Challenger Drag make up the best class "Factory Stock" in NHRA drag racing. By the way. I think I saw this car on Garage Squad. It started life as a 57 Chevy with Bruno with his team turning it into a Copo Camaro in 5 days. *Just kidding*. We'll see how he does on race days. Yes all these COPO's are running solid 9inch Rear end with Strange Axles. Typically using 4.10 Gears. However some guys will run 4.56 gears for the 1/8 mile track, but then the Wheelie Bars really get a workout.

He has a point the hellcat with a tiny bit of spray with run 9s with drag radials, the coop and cobra jets run 8.5s the hellcat is a bad ass car a gt500 to run 10s you have to do a lot of aftermarket parts and the zl1 the hellcat just put drag radials on it run 10s all day with a little spray run 9s all day

This could go back and forth forever. If you put spray on the Hellcat, then the COPO should get spray as well. The argument is that a Hellcat absolutely will not be a COPO Camaro in stock form. Same as it won't beat Mustang CobraJet from the factory on a drag strip. The most important thing to think about is that it would be a VERY rare occasion to see a CobraJet or a COPO on a track with a properly setup Hellcat with drag radials. We are talking about a situation where only 50 CobraJets were ever released and 69 COPO Camaros built in 2012... we'll say that average stays the same 70 a year. That is a lot fewer than the Hellcats that are prowling around.

Probably to see how much the rim spins inside the tire. Could be to check if the tires were spinning when watching video of the pass, but guys usually use a fatter stripe for that.

Roy Poud ddefiantly not lol. liquid colder fuel means liquid fuel. not so good in an engine. the injectors spray such a fine mist that the fuel is basically a vapor. cooler air is good. which is why the ice is going in the radiator to keep the engine cool.

Dude that DODGE challenger was only an R/T. Run the copo against a drag pak, and if the outcome is the same then run your mouth. The same goes for the Stang, it wasn't a cobrajet. Chevy fan boys are funny, I bet you would run your mouth the same if the copo raced a vw bug and beat it.

Uhm you dont need a key to start this copo, its a factory drag car and you push a button...look at the column where the key would go although there is quite the chance of bumping with your knee if it had a key as you wheelstand it lol

06Duramax97Powerstroke gm/chevy is the only one out of the 3 American brands that has had OVER 20 MILLION recalls within the last year, oh and btw many of their recalls were avoidable but gm/chevy didnt take the time to look into all of thier faulty equipment that was installed into those vehicels, wake up bud

I am not a fanboy either I own Chevy, Ford, and Dodge trucks (all do farm work) and they all have different faults. New vehicles are garbage I see all the other local farmers upgrading to new trucks from all brands and they are being worked on more than they are working.

It's funny reading people's comments about Chevy being better than ford...... both are amazing manufacturers and I just had this dispute with myself I went to buy a muscle car with around 40 grand I drove the newest 1Le and it was pretty nice, but it had flaws and didn't like the car as much as people seem to, then I test drove a dodge 392 challenger and that felt like it had more out of the hole then the camero,. I was about to buy it when I stumbled upon a ford mustang 2013 boss 302 in white.... first off it sounded better than both and had just a beautiful look and I picked it up for 7 grand less than the other to if not more I'm definitely happy and eat both on the track with a solid rear axle which says something
