i mean a lot of people dont realise this about napoleon but he was a total simp for josephine until he discovered it wasnt him who was infertile but her after that he divorced her but never stopped caring for her also he grew a bit distant to her after she cheated on him with literaly everyone but he still crowned her empress although he did have some affairs of his own later in their marriage

Oh boy, fun fact for people. Napolean was not that great at romance and was occasionally considered a creep. So uh, yeah they were probably tapping into that side of him in this scene. And I think Joaquin did it masterfully.

I loved Vanessa Kirby’s performance.. its like she was observing things that were happening to her with a nonchalance. As though a third person feeling mildly amused and watching someone else’s life. Brilliant.
