Approaching my first month for the second time but this time (for the first time) I finally admitted I needed help to do it and checked myself into rehab. I just graduated 2 days ago and I’m feeling strong, focused and positively hopeful! Love to my brothers and sisters who know and understand the struggle and hurt we’ve put ourselves and our loved ones through. The fight will never end but it can get easier

Greatest documentary ever. I remember watching that in rehab for the first time and saying that’s me. Of course a poor mans version in regards to the basketball talent but man I’ve watched that at least ten times. I search your name every year to see how you’re doing. I came here because Ben affleck just talked about his new movie and compared his character your story. Congrats to the both of you.

Tell me you went to Warwick Manor on the Eastern Shore kinda on the way to Ocean City from Baltimore. They showed this Documentary to us and i enjoyed it and felt it so much that i went home and found it so that anytime i felt down i could watch it. Took me two tours at Warwick but i finally figured it out 5+ years now. From being Homeless on the streets of West Baltimore living on bed bug infested couches on Baker and Fulton to owning my own home happily married for 2.5 years living in Pasadena .. I’d truly love to chill sometime man. we’ve met twice before maybe more than twice idk but thank you for sharing this with us.

Chris didn't save your family, Novak. You did that. You did, and continue to do the work. Chris was just a guide steering you in the right direction. Chris said it in the interview, "You're doing the same thing I did". That's what it's all about. We in recovery aren't doing anything that people before us, like Chris, haven't done. Those of us that stay sober take the suggestions you talked about, and do the work. I saw Chris's 30 for 30 plenty of times before I got sober, then I saw it in treatment. His story is an inspiration. Your story is an inspiration. I have 3 years, 9 months and 25 clean today.

Wow this was great! Two great stories and great speakers. And Chris Herren is right when he says there's not enough big voices speaking about this topic in a way that really resonates with people. I know there's many people out who talk about substance abuse but these kids out there esp these days don't listen to advice and end up really suffering the consequences. I saw Chris Herren speak a few years ago and I think the SADNESS behind his message is so important. The sad truth of drug addiction is what goes untold when teaching it to students in classrooms etc, and it really should be the center of the message, along with obviously how dangerous the drugs themselves are.

I would give anything to have the privilege of going to Chris's wellness center in MA. I've been on everything and have defeated all that I have been on except for alcohol. I have already lost my entire family because of it but im not trying to give up because of that. I want to be normal so bad but it seems impossible right now. I pray to God for help everyday. But this just seems to be getting more difficult. I'm done with this Neverending cycle of pain but I don't know how to do it by myself.
