Brandon has such a tender heart. I think that is why his writing style touches so many of us so deeply.

Quiet Town gives me Bruce Springsteen vibes. Very melancholic and nostalgic.

I remember this day so vividly. I was in sixth grade. The two kids were in my older sisters grade. They were supposed to graduate that year. 😪 The whole school shut down and instead of lessons we all grieved together. I hated living in Nephi. But in recent years as I am recalling my life I look at my time there and who it made me and remember it fondly. Just like in the song I have lost friends and family to the following opioid crisis. This song hits me in such a deep way. I didn't realize I was still grieving.

I was a few years older and I must have been in my first year of college when this happened because I don't really remember it. But the night before my graduation, a friend died in a motorcycle accident. Nephi is such an unusual place to grow up.

Can i ask how they were hit by the train? Was it suicide or an accident?

An accident, they had the music turned up and it was a crossing with no lights or arms, they didn't hear the train.

I’m older than Brandon and was long gone from Nephi when this train tragedy happened, but I clearly remember two other train tragedies as if they happened last week!! I believe this story (song) resonates with so many people because Nephi is not as unique as we thought. Where you grow up and the people who surround you and the joys and triumphs and tragedies you live through shape your soul and the combination of those experiences shapes who you become!! Sadly, every town in America, and probably the world, has an element of darkness swirling below the surface like a riptide at the beach. I knew too many people who were using drugs and alcohol - and too many who were just @$$es and hopefully grew up to become something better than my interaction with them, but I was exposed to sooo much goodness and sooo many people who shaped my life in good ways and helped form the courage to move forward in my life in this particular small town!! The song “Homeward Bound” has come to show me I wasn’t tied to the plough as I thought ... and I am drawn to my home. It holds a different piece of my heart now and guides my life in a completely different way!! I hope others feel that transformation in their lives (if they left their hometowns) and see how their homes and experiences have shaped their lives in positive ways while the darkness sadly still swirls in the places we live. Grateful for this song and what it symbolizes both in and outside of Nephi!!!

Wow. Very meaningful and I agree. Musically this is an amazing album as it tells the stories of real people like yourself in a form of film in notes. ..... Respect to you.

My whole family is from Nephi and we moved to Texas a little over a year ago because my mom was in the same class as Tiffany and Raymond (the ones who died in the crash) and you know, every once in a while someone would bring up the crash and it just broke my moms heart and on top of that they had class reunions where they honored Tiffany and Raymond and so my mom just couldn’t handle it anymore. So we moved here to Texas and I heard this song whenever it came out and I just felt so bad for all those impacted by the crash, so my heart really goes out to Brandon for being able to make this song and touch all the lives that grieve from this. Thank you Brandon ❤❤❤

I love how you can hear the emotion in his voice while he's describing his inspiration for this song. The main word that comes to me when thinking of words to describe Brandon Flowers is "Artist."

So many of our cities, big and small, resonate with this song. I remember growing up and always safely playing outside by myself or with my brother and our friends. When I came back after college, all around me was different. Friends with drug problems. People living on the streets. Tent cities. People standing around drugged up out of their minds with pills, heroin, fentanyl. It's all so different than when I grew up and I hope things change while my kids are still young. I want them to be able to play outside like I did.

I didn't grow up in a small town like Brandon but I could feel his love, longing, and hope for his roots in this album. It made me feel profoundly sad. Great love letter to his town and I hope he keeps making music for many years to come

I’m from a row house in Philly yet these songs are meaningful to me. I prefer the version with the interviews. And BTW When Brandon was in Phila a few years ago supporting his 2nd solo record, he stayed outside the stage door after the show and signed every autograph.

I love this song. One of my favourite albums is Tunnel of Love by Bruce Springsteen, this song is a very similar style with a bit of 80's uk synth. Brilliant!!!!

@@treyloveless2119 yes! I listened to an interview where BF stated a couple of his idols were Bowie and Iggy Pop, both slim rockers! Plus he jumps, moves and dances around the entire performance so that’ll keep anyone in shape. 🥰

I mean he’s also 40 years old. Aging is a natural, normal and beautiful process. He’s still putting out kick-ass music regardless of his age, and that’s good enough for me!
