Thanks for this video my bluetooth randomly stopped working so I was trying to figure out solutions. Most apps you have to download on the phone itself so if I want a friend to plug up its rough and the head unit just mirrors your phone screen. Istalled APK and dongle will be here tomorrow 👍🏼

Hey brother great video. I have the same setup but with a carlinkit wireless mini. Auto kit app is stuck on the please insert the product screen. The box is getting power but it seems like my head unit isn’t detecting it. Any thoughts?

Very good video, thank you for that! Just a question, this dongle has enough power to also charge the iphone battery when you are using carplay through cable? If yes, it works like a "slow charging" or it is more like a "regular one"?

Yes the dongle has enough power to charge your phone, but it’s a very slow charge( I mean super slow) about maybe 5-10% every hour. So I wouldn’t want to rely on it to actually charge your phone. But it’s nice that it will charge a few percent when you drive some where.

Hey Brandon great video, do you have any idea how to change the default (horrendous) ring tone that comes on the unit when someone calls ? Mine sounds like wind chimes and random ass noises. Thanks any info is great

I have the same problem, and I looked and I couldn’t see anything. But luckily I don’t get many phone calls when I’m in my car, so it doesn’t bother me as much!

I believe when you open up the CarPlay app, before you plug in your phone, I think in the settings up in the corner I gives you the option to change the car logo. It has been awhile since I did that. But I believe it’s somewhere around there.

How did you connect your cables in your glove compartment? Did you use a cable with an Aux and Usb end? Because in my car the glove compartment only has the aux input.

On my radio, it came with extra USB ports. So I drilled a hole and ran them into the glove box! The aux port doesn’t support Apple CarPlay!

The CarPlay module does not have any sound settings to adjust. But the radio I am using does have EQ settings to adjust all the the treble and bass settings you need.

The box might have gone bad. I actually had that happen to me once before. They are all made pretty cheap. And once the car doesn’t recognize it, usually it won’t work. If you want best thing to do is make sure all the connections are good between the box and the radio. Or plug something else into that USB port coming from the radio to make sure that is still working properly!

I wouldn’t say it’s perfect. It does work, but is not the best! I don’t make many phone calls in the car, so it never bothered me.

Yes, you can talk through the speaker on the radio when someone calls. There is No need to disconnect.

This dongle doesn’t support any Bluetooth functionality, so you will always have to be plugged in. But if you want to have wireless CarPlay, I made a video on that. It has to be the ones that come with the radio. Now if you wanted to, you could buy a USB replacement. That has the female to female adapter, and it will replace the stock one.

I’m order to get Apple CarPlay installed, you will need to have a wifi connection to install the app. But after that, you do not need any wifi connection. And it does charge your phone, but it is not fast at all. But maybe a few percent after like a 20-30 minute drive.

The radio trim pieces you can find them used on eBay, they are just much more expensive then you think they are. I set of the upper ones are around $60 used.

Hey , I bought the exact same one for my 2004 bmw and it’s installed and everything however sound only works with the radio. When i connect bluetooth no sound comes out and same with CarPlay. Do you have any advice?

That’s very weird, I have not had that problem. The only thing I would make sure the volume on your phone is turned up as well. And make sure there are no other settings turned off on your radio preventing the sound for those sources.

I have the same Android unit in my Toyota Aygo, and the Apple car play is working fine but my question is I could never be able to open KZfaq on this screen ! Every time I press the app it shows “ Don’t watch video while driving “ and even if the car is not running it does the same thing, could you please help me how to work it out ?? I’m pretty sure there is a setting in the radio. That allows you to watch videos on the screen. And you will have to enable it. And sometimes other radios need you to pull the E-Brake in order to watch videos on the screen. But hope this gives you some help!

Yes that is correct. As long as you are able to download the app you need, you should be able to get CarPlay/ android auto working.

I’m not that familiar with Silverado’s, but I can say look into idoing radios. I just installed one in my 2016 Toyota Camry! And it has all the fancy things like Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth. If you are curious if they have one, go to their instagram @idoing_media , and message them, they should be able to help you find one! 👍

I’m running android 9 on the radio. But you can always change the interface on the radio. If you go deep into the settings you can change it somewhere. I did it a long time ago, and that’s probably why it looks different.

Yes it should boot up automatically, but I find it to be faster to actually just click the app.

This would not work, you need an android radio because you are going to need to download the app, which I don’t think the stock touchscreen will allow that.

I have the same stereo (head unit) and the adapter for the applecarplay I downloaded it and it works but for some reason the quality/brightness is like dark and kinda dim yours looks more better quality clearer how do I fix that ?

The only thing that I can think of is there should be a brightness slider somewhere in the settings. And I believe I have mine turned all the way up.

Bro, when I use my Waze or Google map on my android car stereo and it I get a phone call whilst using the sat nav, my phone call blocks the sat nav, is there a button to minimise this?

Honestly I don’t ever have this problem because I don’t usually talk on the phone when I’m driving. But there might be a setting where it keeps the phone running in the background. While your other apps don’t get blocked.

It sounds like you’re call is going over Bluetooth instead of CarPlay cause that’s what happens to me so I had to manually switch from Bluetooth to CarPlay and then my phone memorized that and hasn’t done it since

Hi the head unit I have right now does not support stereo sound, and when I play any music from my iPhone bluetooth sound comes from both left and right speakers at the time! But when I play from the usb using the music app, the stereo sound coming from the right and left speakers with HD sound that means the Bluetooth apps don’t work correctly in my head unit. Also, I tried to solve this issue from the developer page the settings, but when I change the voice type to stereo, the configuration returns to the original the default.

Just want to make sure, this is a Dasaita headunit with a non-Dasaita dongle? And it works just fine? I had a similar problem, Dasaita HU that stopped working with the Dasaita dongle after a system/MCU update. Bought a new Dasaita dongle and it still didn't work. Please clarify that detail, thank you.

This is a binize radio, and I was just using the carlink dongle with no problems. But I do have a dasita radio in my 2016 Camry, when I first got it I did get a dasita dongle, but it went bad after about a year, and so I just bought one of the carlink dongles and it works great as long as I downloaded the app for the carlink dongle!! I hope this helps out.

When you say your car is smart? Did you install an after market radio? Because the only way to get chrome, you will need to have an android radio.

@@Emma-rm9yy now I understand, and it doesn’t seem that the smart cars come with any special Software with them. You will need to upgrade the radio to an android radio so you can install the software.

No I do not. Must be a lose wire or something. Maybe the USB plug that goes into the back of the radio.

If your looking for a good radio with built in Apple CarPlay. I would take a look at idoing. I upgraded my 2009 corolla and my 2016 Camry with them and I love them. If you look at my videos you will find me installing one in both my cars and I go over the features on them!

Hi, is it possible to start the car play when i power on the car? I see what starts initially is the android system, then i have to go to zling and activate car play and i find this bit tedious unfortunately. I hope someone can help with this. Thanks

Yes there should be a setting icon in the corner when you open up the app. And some where in the settings of the CarPlay app. You will see autostart. And that way when you turn in the radio it will bring up the CarPlay. But some people say it’s faster just to click the app, because there is a lag when booting up.

I’m not sure what exact radio you are using, but if you have any way to reset it, like a small button in the front of the radio. Otherwise maybe just try to reset your home internet and see if that helps. Because I have never had that problem!

Do you get notification sounds with your dongle in my other car with the android radio I get the dings but this one only notification sound I get is text messages all my other like Facebook, mail, doordash etc doesn’t make a sound.

I only get sounds from my text messages as well. I figure it’s just a safety thing, where Apple doesn’t want you to look at those other type of notifications while driving.

Yeah I think it’s a bug in iOS 15 cause I was getting the ding before now I don’t. The notification never popped up on the screen but it always made the ding noise before iOS 15

The android came like that. I didn’t do anything other than change the background. But the apps and clock were already like that on my unit. I didn’t think they were different on the units.

I’m not sure, because my car did not come with steering wheel controls. So it’s hard to say if they work or not. I have heard some people say they work. And others say they do not work.

There should be a separate app for screen mirror. And when you open it. You will click on the mirror screen on your iPhone. And it should pop up as a display!

Are you talking about trying to listen to music out of Apple CarPlay? Like the radio or Bluetooth? If so you might have the auto start option for Apple CarPlay to always open up the app on the head unit. If you are not talking about that, and you are saying every time you listen to music on Apple CarPlay, and it stops. Maybe just try to reboot your phone, or make sure you actually have Apple Music subscription signed into that phone.

You will need an android head unit for this to work. If you have already installed one. Then yes you should be able to get this to work. But this will not work on stock radio.

You have to plug the iPhone in with the cable. Otherwise it won’t work. And they do make wireless CarPlay dongles, but they cost a lot more. But I believe those work over Bluetooth.

No, this will not work. You will need to have a android radio that supports Apple CarPlay. And you can usually find that out, if you are able to download the app or not.

Just double check the description of the dongle. But I believe as long as you are running android 4.xx it will work.

That’s weird I haven’t heard of that happening, the best thing to do is double check and make sure all the cables are pushed into the back of the radio. Also I believe there is a fuse in the back of the radio. Maybe double check that it didn’t get blown. And maybe the last thing to try is get another speaker and replace it. Maybe the speakers blew. Would be very odd chance of that happening, but could have.

Not all apps support Apple CarPlay, but if they do support it you will just download the app on your phone, and then the app will pop up every time on Apple CarPlay. I know most music apps are supported, and navigation apps.

You could have a bad dongle, I have seen other people have the same problem. One thing you can do is try to update the software and see if that helps, or try to reset the radio. And if none of those help the dongle might be bad.

I just doubled checked the links, they seem to be working on my end. Not sure why they don’t for you. But if the radio says it comes with CarPlay, you shouldn’t need to install anything. I would look for an app that is called carlink, or Tlink. It should be called something very similar. I hope this helps.

When I was using the dongles. I noticed they would only last about 6 months. I went though 3 of them in 2 different cars. And now I make sure my radios comes with it, so I don’t need a dongle.
