I just love the ocean, I want to study it. I want to work to conserve it, and I want to be in it. I can’t remember a time in my life where I haven’t been fascinated and in absolute love of the ocean. Especially after going scuba diving in the Cayman Islands and seeing eagle rays and sharks(where do I begin on my love for sharks). Every time I go in it or see the ocean I’m reminded of how beautiful and amazing it is.

I really want to be a marine biologist. Not because I want to swim with dolphins or anything even thought that would be cool, but the first time I went snorkeling in Hanaumah Bay made me really consider this career. I cannot imagine how awesome it would be to wake up and feel the water rush onto your face as you get consumed in this underwater world mostly undiscovered by anyone. Also, I really want to go to UCSD. This video is so cool:)

I also want to be a marine biologist, I'm scared because people keep telling me that is so difficult to find a company and that If I do find one they are not going to pay me much, I don't really care that much about the money and I think that this proffesion is gorgeous and very interesting. I'm aware of the climate change and I try to convince everybody of how important it is. Always when I go to to swim on the ocean I bring with me the snorkel and the glasses. I started thinking that I wanted to study marine biologist when I went to see orcas, whales, and dolphins, it was amazing. I'm in my first year of college and for my first semester I studied computer animation because I'm very good at art and wanted to make video games, however it just wasn't exciting me. Over my winter break I happened upon "Blue Planet II" on Netflix and began sobbing hysterically at the end of the first episode because it hurt me so much to see how the animals were affected by the melting ice caps. I sat there feeling more frustrated than I had ever felt in my life when I realized that I could help fix it. I've always been in love with animals, I love keeping aquariums, I got all A+'s in my science classes, and I remember wanting to be a marine biologist for a while as a young girl after my girl scout troop stayed overnight at an aquarium and got to see behind the scenes. Now I've changed my major to biology. I'm just getting my associate's at a community college but I hope to transfer somewhere to specialize in marine conservation biology. My best friend is also studying marine conservation biology at a 4 year school nearby and says she can hook me up with volunteer opportunities so it feels like I've finally found the right path in life. This was very inspiring to watch and gave me a glimpse into a better future for myself.

This actually helped so much because I'm trying to see which field of marine biology I might want to go into and the coral reef field ecology seems pretty cool

I've looked up salaries for marine biologists everywhere and every website says something different. I was wondering if you could give like an average salary for marine biologists? After a bachelor in literature ive done a year of journalism. In October I will be starting a master in Business but I highly doubt that it is the way to go. After watching the documentary Chasing Coral I'm truly believing that there are other jobs out there that could fit my dream to travel and protect the world. However Ive never scuba dived before and might be scared of the ocean. Im truly unsure of what to do. What would you say different biologists can do? Can you not know how to scuba dive and still see yourself doing such a career?

I'm currently a music major, but I'm looking to switch to Marine Biology. I've always loved to study sharks and fish and I've always wanted to scuba dive and live by the ocean. I would possibly work at the Aquarium near me as soon as I finish as a science major. Any tips? I've never really liked math, but I've always loved reading about things and learning often. I know science and math go hand in hand in this world, so I know I'll have to suck it up as it will be worth the experience and knowledge learned. Not to mention hopefully a good pay

I'm finishing my 4th year of management course and then most likely switching to the university of edinburgh for a master in marine policy and systems. I want to think long and hard about it though, as I do still want to spend some time in the marine field. So might be a scuba instructor for a couple of years first.
