Brangus Bulls Get Into An Argument

The Brangus bulls in the pasture behind the house get into "arguments" every now and then...especially when they've just been turned out for breeding.
(FYI no bulls, cows or calves were hurt in the process.) ALSO, for any of you expert cowboys who want to comment...we put three bulls out with each herd. Each of our herds consist of approximately 60-70 cows. This video is when we had just turned out fresh young bulls into the pasture that houses two herds, approx 130 cows. It happens. We know what we are doing. :)

That one bull at the end blocking the view of the fight is a freaking tank! He's cut like a body builder and you can see every muscle that joker has.

He's in working condition, all right. The fighting bulls are just challenging their pecking order several number DOWN from the guy at the fenceline in the foreground, who's pretty chill!!!

I worked a parking lot near a night club and saw these kind of bull fights every weekend.

Happens every year they go crazy. Not unusual to see the whole paddock fighting.

saw two angus bulls get into a fight over a cow in season, they fought for several hours knocked down a few small trees and tore down some fence in two places. when they were exhausted and stopped fighting I turned and saw the cow leaving through a hole in the fence with the third bull in the pasture. wink

Depending on what breeding season you follow, you always pull all the bulls off the cows and keep them together to put their weight back on. We pull our bulls off first weekend of October and turn them back out to breed the first weekend of April.

If they know each other you can e.g they have been kept together since birth. If you throw 4 random bulls into a paddock that has 10 bulls u will come back to 4 dead bulls

why so many bulls? Looks like if it is a herd that requires that many bulls to service their cows they would have them sectioned off into smaller herds with one bull per group of cows. That kind of set up would prevent all that fighting and you would know what bull bred what cow , but a better fence would have to be built.

Becky Shell each of our herds consist of about 60-70 cows and we put three bulls with each herd for breeding. These were new bulls we had just bought and they had just been turned out so they acted up. They rarely fight like this when they're in the pastures with the cows.

@@CreekLivin I wintered my bull on ten acres alone and he and a collie dog were inseparable. The little kids at the daycare thought that each cow should have it's own bull. The conversation overhead among them was hilarious, as my bull would sit by the fence about ten feet from their play area. Not an inditement of my bull having ten cows, but little minds...........I thougtht maybe you DID have one bull per one cow!!!

These are angus bulls not brangus the difference is the brangus ears are floppy and the angus have normal ears.

We've actually gotten away from them in the last couple years and gone to Charolais crosses. The Brangus's are awesome and consistent, but I was getting tired of seeing way too big of calves being thrown from decent sized cows. The Charolais's are much gentler and throw stocky calves and my cows seem to be much happier. They don't beef up during the off season as much as the Brangus did, but I have two small herds that I keep two with year round and they maintain their size wonderfully.
