@@TheGamingShelf just to be clear... I one shotted, not one hit lol. The archer boss in the woods definitely. I had to grind for the red mage before for 5 levels so my team was probably better suited for her and not for him. One or two others I cleared on the first try with no help. There were plenty though that required grinding, prep, and lots of team tweaking

Yeah I agree, Octopath is better but I still dug BD2.

What exploits did you find?

@@TheGamingShelf The beastmaster passive skill "creature comforts" and the freelancer passive skill "late bloomer" both these boost your stats by %200+. Creature comforts by capturing lots of enemies and late bloomer by mastering classes. This in effect makes bosses do low double digit damage. The other one was also a beastmaster skill, capturing the skeletons and using off the leash, it does 9,999 damage and you can unleash 4 per turn per character. i just started steam rolling bosses

When looking at a dozen or more jobs it can definitely look overwhelming, but they introduce jobs at a nice pace where it doesn’t feel that way. What makes Xenoblade 2 your favorite?

@@TheGamingShelf I enjoyed the world, characters, and combat. It has a little cheesiness to the story but I enjoyed the whole boy meets girl story. The game was long yet it didn't feel long to me. I just really came to enjoy the characters and made me feel for them. I found Jin to be very interesting. I also had a lot of fun with the combat. It could also be a combination of the world being bright and colorful. Just a game that made me feel good and like to explore. There was one area with this giant staircase that looked very cool and when I finally made it up it I slide all the way down the side. Quite entertaining ha. So yeah it was really a combination of things but I just really enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed Octopath Traveler but I wish their stories came together more. I really enjoyed the design and gameplay though

@@TheGamingShelf Well first off I stayed away from guides as I wanted to figure out my own combos and one of the first I fell in love with was monk class because of pressure point ability, then combine that with the minus one bp cost ability from the pictomancer class and boom. 4 pressure points cost free per turn. Lol, I soon got all my guys to master monk :D I also loved vanguard. So strong with its level 12 double attack ability, The tank class was awesome too, what was it called? You look like a damn small castle lol

@@TheGamingShelf ha! nice, yeah especially for early and mid game monk is beastly, very late game though there are a ton of potential combinations, game really opens up with power at that point and monk fell behind for me but still solid! monk was still my go to for grinding as it was free pressure point spam :)

In the skits for BD2 the characters move, but I just don't like this style of side-storytelling. It just feels lazy. And like you said, thank God they can be skipped and are totally optional. I just feel like they never add anything worth the time to sit and read through them.

@@TheGamingShelf Different strokes. Like I said, haven't played this game so I don't know what they're like here, I just generally like them in Tales. Sometimes important stuff is relegated to them there and I do think they should have been done in game, and sometimes there are a but too many and seem like fluff, but there's a lot of good ones in Tales too and I'm fine with their presentation. Great review.

@@KnightRaymund I HATE the skits in Berseria. They are endless and completely destroy all pacing. I swear some go on for 10+ minutes only to be followed up by another 2-3 skits. They're not even enjoyable. It's mostly just characters moping and groaning over the same shit over and over. The few that are decent are buried deep under piles of garbo. Older tales skits arer WAAAY better man. Short, fun(usually) and to the point. BD2 skits are short and fun and usually just some thoughts after a side quest or during the story that help flesh out the characters likes/dislikes, personalities, past etc. they're pretty good.

I always feel weird about counting re-releases or remasters. To me xenoblade will always be a wii game (the best game on wii imo). I do have the remaster though and yes its very good but similar to how I consider mario kart 8 a wii u game (not a switch title) and the upcoming skyward remaster I still will consider a wii title too so I don't count them when ranking favorites. Thats just me though :)

Interesting. I found that bosses had a fair challenge. What was your party setup?

@@TheGamingShelf For dungeons I had one character with Dual Wield, Raw Power, Full Force, Counter Savvy, and Beast Whisperer and I just killed everything with 3 level slashes and one crescent moon. For boss battles Seth was a Beastmaster and either a bard or a ranger. Beastmaster's tier 2 skill gives you a ton of stats for having a lot of monsters and off the leash/off the chain gives you a wide range of options. Gloria was a Shieldmaster and White Mage. With 2 Blessings equipped her healing is decent, and with Better than Ever she can heal far above her max health and be very hard to kill. I also gave her Revenge so she would always have a lot of brave points after getting attacked a lot. Elvis was a Spiritmaster and White Mage. By keeping his BP low he constantly cures status ailments and restores everyone's HP and MP and if necessary he can help Gloria with healing, resurrection or use Devotion to give anyone MP. Adelle was a monk for most of the game and I used her to build up BP and do Firebird to make an enemy weak to fire and then Flames of War to deal lots of damage. Eventually I made her a Hellblade.

There are actually quite a few Square-Enix games on Switch. Like every modern mainline non-MMO Final Fantasy aside from 13. Or every Tokyo RPG Factory game. Or everything from Team Asano, which has another rpg in the works as we speak.

@@TheGamingShelf tales of series, ys series, Nier , kingdom hearts and the final fantasy games ( 7 and 15) Btw the last turn base jrpg I sit down and completed was final fantasy xiii and Resonance of Fate, I tried replaying resonance of fate again and couldn’t get into it. And all the jrpg I have are all action jrpg.

@@TheGamingShelf simple down to basic story meh charcaters besides alvis and adelle, that fact that almost every boss has a counter/ recovers BP as a result

It's say it's better than decent, but yes certainly not the best.

I certainly liked Octopath more as well, but I still enjoyed this quite a bit.
