Congrats for the video. Is really cool to see foreigns interested in our country. But I need to say that this reality is NOT the average of Brazil. Brazil its a really HUGE country and people from the North lives in a compleately different way from people from the south, amd even in the same state you can find hundreds of different life styles.

There is a small town right next to the city of São Paulo called São Caetano do Sul, it's the the city with highest HDI in Brazil and it's close to all the Highlights from São Paulo. I think it's a great choice if you want to experience part of the southwest Brazilian lifestyle.

Hi! Brazilian here. American expats usually find it easier to get jobs on English language schools (even if they don't have a lot of education in teaching). At the school where I studied there were two americans and a german. If you have a college degree, it will take some time to validate it, but if it's not a protected profession that needs certification (lawyers, doctors, architects, etc.) and you speak good Portuguese, you can actually get a job in your own field. Either way, if you get a job like that here, it's unlikely you'll have to live in a favela since it'd be enough to rent a small apartment in a "better" area.

1. Brazil is big, depends on which city you are. But for the most part, yes. 2. Depends what your skillset is. A common job for recent arrivals is as an English language teacher. 3. It certainly doesn't help. But Portuguese is easy to learn, trust me when I say it. I've seen Americans who were here for about a year speaking fluently. 4. Quite easy if you speak Portuguese and have a job. But if you want a shortcut, have a Brazilian baby. ;)

Don't be fooled by scammers, Sao Paulo doesn't have beaches anywhere near it. It's a 2 hour trip to the coast, and the weather is almost always cloudy there. Look into other states and cities like Florianopolis, Salvador or Fortaleza. Besides, even if you want to get to the Sao Paulo coast, you will rely on public transportation that leaves you in a terminal far away from the beach, not connected by other public transport lines, just to force you to spend on taxis. That's how scammy this place is! If you want to be carried to the beach itself, you will have to rely on "clandestine" vans that departure from the Jabaquara metro station, and they also cost half the price of the conventional public transport! The problem is that they have to constantly hide because the state want so desperate to extort taxes from them. Argh this place... There's better uses for your money.

I'm considering moving to Rio next year, i can have an income stream of 4,900 Reals per month if I rent my house out in the USA. Is that a good amount of money to live a good life in Copacabana? I want to rent a nice apartment but still be able to not get a job and just go to the gym and eat and drink well

I would say that with that amount of income you should be able to live comfortably but I’m not totally sure, the price of living in Copacabana is more expensive than other places in Brazil. But $r4900 a month is a lot for Brazil so I think you’ll be fine. Good luck!

@@lephilosopheinconnu3952 let me just say something since you say you wanna move to South america, you should probably not come with a bigoted and judgemental attitude like you have now. If you call people "dumb asses & crack heads" without even knowing them here it would not get you in a good situation. The Culture here is the opposite of that. So if you really are that judgemental in real life I feel sorry for you once you get here. Good luck

Guainases is such a random place so difficult to reach from any part of the city, how can it define the life of an avarage Paulistano person? This is such a narrow view of the city. ''It almost looks like a western city''! What does that mean? Gee, that's so fucked up in many ways, I don't even know where to start.

you must take into account that rio de janeiro has a bad history of crimes for a long time, the opposite of são paulo, which is a mega city, has a reasonable and acceptable level of security and most of the rest Brazil and the South of the country is a good example.

There's far better neighborhoods that cost affordable prices for sharing apartments or even renting rooms on guesting houses (private room but shared kitchen and bathroom) like barrio Ipiranga, Mooca, all near metro and relatively walkable from downtown. The outskirts are not that cheap in comparison.

Only rich (or middle class) people can have this kind of attitude towards poverty. I had poverty long enough in my life, I love my family and friends in Brazil. I love to visit the places were I grew up, talk to friends and all, but I would never move back. US, with all its flaws and shortcomings, is a far better place to live and raise a family -- and that's a fact. I grew up in Rio, for sheer luck never had a bullet piercing my body, was hold up dozens of times, saw people dying a mere meters away. Violence in Brazil affects everyone, even the rich. The poor have to risk their lives, the rich have to give up their freedom.

Those are all dumb idiots who roll dices all the time and kicks rearmirrors and so on, they scratch our cars and dont care. Those are dumb slummers, just it. Dont put in the same bag the two kinds; I had motorcyles many years, and I just gave up because they "burn our tape" you know? Bad to be associated to them in big cities, like SP where I live.
