Been doing a deep dive on Slot. Actually got me a bit excited. I'd be happy to see him brought in. Let's be honest, everyone is a risk but I really like his style of play, his tactical malleability, his attitude and his manner.

@cdeford2 The problem is it’s all lower body injuries as well. Those quickly add up and can very quickly derail a player’s career. The problem as well is he’s in Portugal’s squad. And they will likely play deep into the tournament and Jota will not actually properly heal.

I don't think it is desperation, neither Joyce nor Ornstein ever said Amorim was close on fact Ornstein only said he was "top of the list but still more meetings have to take place". Slot is the first name that Joyce, Ornstein, Fabrizio and Reddy all said is in advanced talks, I wonder if Amorim was a smoke screen

Most wont know much about this guy. His credentials is just managing the Dutch league. Does he possess the necessary experience or man management skills to handle such a big job? Liverpool would be making a big mistake by signing him. If so, might as well sign Zerbi or Ange. At least they now know the premier league quite well. But this guy could turn out to be another Ten Hag. For Liverpool's sake, they need a big time manager with lots of experience to manage a big club like Liverpool.

Ange hasnt even had a season of Premier League experience and De Zerbi came from the Ukrainian league before coming to Brighton if you think the Dutch league is too big of a jump talk about a big jump. He has about as much of a pedigree as Amorim in terms of winning a league and tbh he has more success in Europe than Amorim as Slot has led Feyenoord to a conference league final that came down to pens

We are supposed to be a top top club - one that's been competitive in the major trophies last 5-6 years and with a history as rich as some of the best teams ever. We shouldn't be struggling this much to bring a coach in. The reality is despite all the above, even coaches don't seem to want to always come here. It's sad, really.

Probably because there isn't a bunch of coaches looking for new jobs right now. We're kind of in a weird spot where there are only a handful of top managers and the young and up and coming managers are all still at lower tiers. Outside of Pep, Klopp, and Ancelotti is there even another manager you would list as a world class manager right now?

Honestly of all the dutch managers we have here in the netherlands, he is by far the best in my opinion and i am no Feyenoord fan. Could have won the title with AZ in the COVID year and was level on points with Ajax. Has done great with Feyenoord with far less money than PSV and Ajax. Presses way more structured than ten Hag for example. Plays a system perfect for a guy like TAA. I know he is not the biggest name but to me this guy makes way more sense to me than when Utd went for ten hag who had the perfect people managing the club behind him at Ajax.

@@FSG.OUT.The thing is I don't think Ten Hag would have been nearly as bad with a proper structure in place. Ten Hag succeeded at Ajax when he was paired with a great scouting department, a good system and a talented sporting director in Overmars. Ask any Ajax fan and they will tell you that Overmars was key to their success and he paired very well with ETH. We have Edwards who if he pairs well with Slot we can let Slot focus on perfecting his system and managing the players while Edwards and Hughes can focus on recruitment and scouting

The Dutch league has been shambolic in the last few years. Feyenoord won the league in 2017, and finished 3rd a bunch of times in seasons before Slot came in. I don't get what's so special he's done there? He may be good, but it's not he got a team doing something they weren't already doing in preceding years. Why the hype?

To be fair, this is not true. Slot brought the professionalism into Feyenoord and made Feyenoord from underdog to the team with the best odds. Before his signing there wasn’t an attacking play style like this. The style was boring. He is well-spoken and when he speaks about tactics he really gives masterclasses. Also look at the increase in worth of the players of Feyenoord over the years. The guy knows what he is doing and makes players better

Personally I do not want Slot. Amorim has to be the 1st choice and if we have to take a lesser option then Thomas Frank as he seems a really good guy and has premier league experience.

Jota injured…again. This is exactly why I was repeatedly telling people in the chat that he needed to be gradually reintroduced as a substitute over the span of at least 5 games. Jota has a track record of lower body injuries. The problem is the lower body starts overcompensating and section by section of the lower body breaks down as it overcompensates for weaker muscles and tendons. And then it gets to the point where a player becomes like Anthony Martial at United. An original knee problem turns into a calf problem. Which then turns into a hamstring problem. Which then turns into a groin problem. Which turn turns into a hip flexor problem. And a once very promising player can no longer stay fit for any extended period of time because the entire lower body has been compromised. I knew this would happen to Jota and this is exactly why I disagreed with Craig that he needed to be rushed back and started.

securing 3 pts at the risk of injuring him again was a risk worth taking. What if he was just as unimpactful as he was in palace game (especially we were playing away). We atleast have secured one more game to stay alive in title race. We all saw what Nunez did when he came on. Putting salah through middle with Gakpo and Diaz on wings is a risk worth taking in this match.

@gokulkrishnan5957 I understand what you’re saying. But this was entirely predictable and is not exclusive to just Liverpool. Far too many players are rushed back, deemed fit, and get reinjured very shortly after returning. The problem is a lot of these sports scientists and coaches insist on the players constantly doing recovery programs to get “fit” again. The problem is a lot of times the body just needs to literally rest, relax, and actually fully heal. Otherwise, players get stuck in these never ending loops of being fit and injured because their body never actually properly heals.

Football is so funny, three weeks ago our fans had no idea who Amorim was and thought he didnt have enough experience and was a consolation to Xabi, now they're doing the exact same thing to Slot. Relax, let's put some faith in Michael Edwards, he picked Jurgen and he makes the right choice the majority of the time. Slot has about the same level of experience and winning as Amorim has and they have a similar pedigree.
