The auto industry has always opposed improvements in safety , fuel efficiency and emission standards on the false assumption that these would kill the auto manufacturers and consumers would opposé said improvements. It wasn’t until it was shown that consumers approved and welcomed these changes that the industry embraced them and actually used these improvements as a selling feature. The short sightedness of these idiots continues.

For just - one - battery, which has about: - 12 kg of lithium - 30 kg of nickel - 22 kg of manganese - 15 kg of cobalt - 100 kg of copper - 200 kg of aluminum, steel and plastic And people still believe in "zero emissions" when they drive their electric cars.... , 😂😂 and we didn’t mention “recycling “

We have an EV, and I wouldn't buy another one. Can't use it to visit family in a neighboring state, as there's nowhere to charge between here and there, and charging takes too long, anyway, which would turn a 3-hour trip into a 5-hour trip one way. My husband bought it because it was a novelty, but he complains about plugging it in and blowing circuit breakers if we try to use a vacuum cleaner that's on the same circuit when the car is plugged in. Sorry, but they're not ready for prime-time.

There are some valid arguments to be be made but this isn’t one of them. Where in the country do you live that you can’t get to an EV charger and what horrible ranged EV did you buy? (doubt that you bought one). No way does a 3hr trip turn into a 5hr trip. I’ve driven 14hrs in the winter and at 80mph and only spent 2.5hrs charging total. And IF your circuit breaker is tripping because of the EV car and a vacuum then you got a bad electrician or you did it yourself and you had no idea what you were doing.

One hundred+ years ago people were freaking out about the automobile. It scared their horses. They got stuck in the mud. There was nowhere to buy gas. Only the rich could afford one. But Ford's idea of mass producing the automobile so the working man could afford one created jobs. Highways needed to be built....more jobs. Service stations....more jobs. Now, I'm sure many in those days refused that "new" way of life. I'm sure they fought against it. I'm sure they wanted to stay the way things were. But, it is America. A country that leads in progressing towards the future.

BTW, listening to Scott Perry and reading through the comments, virtually every negative said about EV's is just flat out wrong. @@charliepastrami2813 Two of the three EV's that my family drives were bought without subsidies. That's because I did the math and they're less expensive to own and operate than any comparable ICE car. Granted, I'm comparing them to fairly expensive ICE cars like Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords. So the subsidies are lowering the costs of an EV to the point that a really nice EV is comparable to lower end ICE car. But there are two things happening that will make EV's even more affordable. First, EV manufacturers started with high-end vehicles and are now moving down-market. Second, is what's called Wright's law. It says that the more things a company makes, the lower the cost to make them. Tesla, for example, has grown by more than 50% per year for over a decade, and their costs are coming down with that growth. Add that to a mass-market vehicle coming soon, and you have EV's that are affordable for nearly everyone.

@@somethingotherthanyou5124 You do know that we have several EVs priced under $30,000, right? He never evaded a single question. The rare times that he wasn't cut off, he gave cogent, well-thought-out answers, not evasive ones. If given time to explain, Buttigieg would have made a lot more sense to you, but he wasn't given that time. Here's some information you're apparently unaware of, and I'll give all my sources so you can verify them for yourself:: The electricity required to drive 15,000 miles per year in a compact electric vehicle costs an average of $546, while the amount of gas required to drive the same distance costs $1,255 (or 130%) more in an equivalent size gas car, according to AAA. (See TRUE COST of ELECTRIC VEHICLES) Electric cars cost $330 per year less in maintenance, according to AAA, or $3300 less over ten years. The average owner can save up to $6000 over an EV's lifespan, according to Consumer Reports. That's in addition to up to $7500 in tax credits for buying one. Yes, EVs in the U.S. cost more upfront but they save consumers money in the long run. In China, where the industry has already scaled up, EVs are CHEAPER than gasoline cars. Price parity in the U.S. should be reached in the next three years, according to Car and Driver magazine. According to Autoinsurance EZ, using figures from the National Transportation Safety Board, EVs are 10 times LESS LIKELY to experience a fire than a gasoline car. EVs' rollover rate is significantly lower than gasoline cars, due to the heavy battery's low center of gravity. It's part of the reason EVs have a 40% LESS death and injury rate than equivalent gasoline cars. EVs front end crash test results place them with the very safest luxury gasoline cars. EVs have instant torque, allowing you to get onto the highway far quicker than an equivalent gas car. Last but not least, emissions from EVs (from their manufacture and from their energy sources) are significantly less than that of gasoline cars, even in states that produce most of their power from coal, according to a two year study by the Union of Concerned Scientists.

This administration is going to try and force us to buy a vehicle that is so expensive I will never be able to buy it. It’s inconvenient in the least and a f**king pain in the ass at the extreme to keep charged. I don’t have a clue what routine repairs cost but I’m guessing a shit ton. China will own us if certain politicians get their way and stop us from buying gas vehicles. I will probably get a horse if that happens.

You know lighters were created before matches? They weren't as popular as lighters up until manufacturing made it easier to distribute that technology. Once it did, we didn't need to rely on a technology that is inherently disposable. Batteries are way more powerful now and everyone has electricity in their homes and all around them where that wasn't the case in the early 1900s. There are a ton of other inventions that were invented long ago but weren't able to be marketed because manufacturing wasn't available.

Every major economic crisis is caused by this underhanded corporate behavior to squeeze every penny out of people. Nearly 72 percent of all job gains since 2021 were simply jobs that were being recovered from the pandemic, not new job creation. I would never have bought an electric vehicle either if my brother had him convince me that I was three times more likely to be seriously injured in my Toyota Highlander, then in a Tesla. Long-term the tester will save me money in fuel and maintenance. Short term they’re much more fun to drive. They are more relaxing on the long highway drive because of lack of noise and vibration. Range anxiety is never an issue because the vehicle tells you exactly where to go and for how long in order to get to your destination. I watch my fathers drive and get worse as he aged and would’ve done well to have the accident avoidance system that Tesla has, if not go to full distance to full self driving, which would’ve Made it safer for him and other drivers on the road.. You cannot say at this point that you would never drive an EV because you’ve not received a fair evaluation. I’ve convinced 23 of my friends are by Tesla over the last five years and everyone of them is grateful I did so. Not one person backed out and everyone of them continues to drive Tesla. It’s also the car with the greatest American content.

I don't know anyone who either has an EV or wants one. The cost and range is not feasible. Not the mention the lack of charging station availability. Oh and eventual battery replacement.

I want one. I'm voting with my $. Getting solar panels too. In three years I expect to do 45000 miles. And if I don't get a job in 3 months, I'll still be able to afford to drive my EV. How is that for feasible? EV EV baby.

In what way? By being rude and not letting Pete answer any questions or did you just like that Perry just answered his own questions towards Pete? There was no destroy, Perry just looked like a complete fool and didn't want to hear the truth.

@@t3chninja_official he destroyed him factually. Pete refused to address any of the concerns that Perry mentions with regard to subsidized EV. Pete refuses to acknowledge that the Auto industry is losing millions because they are forced to build vehicles no one wants. He never answers why instead he avoids. Perry did in fact destroy him.
