Checkout my latest podcast episode on Apple Podcasts: itunes.apple.c... Special episode! I recently taught a 4-hour training on the "6 Career and Business Habits that Lead to Long-term Success." In this video, I teach you the first (and most surprising) habit: How to quit the wrong thing NOW. Find out HOW and WHEN to quit the wrong thing, so that you can focus on what really matters. Check out the training here: brendon.com/blo...
=====
SUMMARY
=====
Quitting isn't necessarily a BAD thing. In fact, the next level of success requires that you start sorting and deleting faster than other people. High performers leave sooner than later, creating white space for the things that really matter. Here's how to quit the wrong thing now:
#1: Identify what makes you bored or miserable, and that which makes you come ALIVE.
#2. Think legacy (and ask yourself this question)
#3. Release those who are not ready (and why this one requires a LOT of courage)

This is really powerful. I tend to drag things out until they get SO SO bad....mentally, emotionally, physically, & financially this makes no sense. When I look back at many of these situations I knew very early on that I needed to quit it & it was the wrong thing. I love this permission giving video!

Extremely valid points you are making here in terms of how to quit when things are not working. I agree that if you have given something you're working on a fair chance, and it simply is not working - it's time to move on. Most people know this deep inside, but need little reminders such as these to keep them moving forward.

This has been my life long struggle, to find the "right" thing, as I have so many different interests and projects I am working on right now. , things that I am so passionate about. When I put one thing aside for a while to focus on something else, I miss the other thing and eventually return to it. I go back and forth, back and forth, uggh, it drives me batty. And because of this back and forth insanity, no one thing ever really takes off and prospers. But as Brandon says, I know the answer. I have to do some serious soul searching, perhaps some deep meditation and prayer and really think about this with an open mind. Thanks Brandon! Great lesson!

perfect video thanks for this! it gave me confidence in what I did! I left 2 secure jobs in 3 years and I always told myself "I'm not where I should be" first time, I left good people I was good with .. but that job would have put me in a simple life I didn't want to have or at least I didn't feel I belonged to! The second job was horrible I left it in 1 year and 5 months even though I didn't know what I'll do I quit it with no job or ideas behind but I felt it was killing me little by little ! and everyone was like "you left that well paid job for nothing are you sure ?!" I was sure it wasn't good for me, that's the only thing I knew! I took time to think about things I wanted to do like travelling, working in Japan or US.. but I felt it was also not for me at least right now, I finally had the chance to find a new job , I hope it will be where I can improve my skills and learn more about me ! I'm less afraid now to test things and quit if it's not for me and your video gave me the strength and confidence in my way of thinking! Thank you!

Excellent! Your videos helped me realized that I am naturally a High Performance person. I noticed I have been quitting of things that doesn't let me move towards my dreams, every time faster and faster. I have just decided that soon I'm going to quit my corporate job to start something of my own. I'm grateful for the opportunity but I have this feeling that it's not aligned with my life purpose anymore. It feels wrong to stay in there for me. I need to reclaim my time and energy back to develop the skills that matters. It feels good to feel supported! Thank you!

This is exactly what I needed. Been working as a software developer for 20+ yrs now and hate it. What I really want to be is a concept artist/illustrator which I know is a very competitive field and I have a lot of catching up to do in that. But I would rather do that than what I am doing now. It's just kinda hard to make such a drastic change. I still struggle with whether I should continue on in software development. At least part time as a freelance developer.

I'm a classical clarinetist with a master's degree. Classical music is extremely competitive. I have had some sucess taking auditions and have subed with the San Francisco Symphony. Also I have also soloed with a few orchestras. I have not won a job however and have decided to do something else with my music. I would love to have a good job such as a janitorial position. It would pay more than a regional orchestra and it would pay the bills. If doing that and playing chamber music is my legacy that would be totally fine with me. Cleaning a building is contributing as much as making a beautiful recording. That is not the main point of this video. Just wanted to share my opinion. Thanks for the video.
