Let’s set the record straight! I didn’t say “it’s for teenage girls” or “only teenage girls watch” I just SIMPLY SAID they must be every teenage girls dream. Meaning that I can see why MANY girls would love them. Look at them! They are humble, real, good looking and positive. Please let’s not jump to conclusions here.

I have a hard time calling them K-pop. They are K- every genre. Spring Day is a memorial to the one of the worst tragedy's in recent Korean History. There is a explanation video you should watch. 54 year old ARMY here and I appreciate you reacting to BTS. I pointed out my age because I want to let you know that their fans age range is birth to death 😂. Seriously. My mother is 91 and loves these guys (and so does my 16 year old daughter). I went to their concert in LA and Vegas and I met several people that were in their 60’s and 70’s that were huge fans (they were getting just as crazy as the younger fans). There was a 3 generation family sitting next to me in Vegas that traveled from the Philippines to see them. It is staggering how big and diverse their fan base is. Every single member is talented enough to stand on their own and together they are unstoppable. They have a LOT of content to view… check it out. You won’t be disappointed. 💜

BTS does NOT stand for 'behind the scenes', their name stands for BangTan Sonyeondan - Korean for Bulletproof Boy Scouts. They debuted as a Hip Hop Idol Group in 2013, from a small company - BIG HIT Ent., and they worked hard to have the success they have today. They are the most popular music group in the world right now, and they have arguably the largest fanbase in the world, with over 90 million fans and growing. They write, compose, and produce their own music, and they are not afraid to try new genre's and give messages in their music that are not common in KPOP, like social justice, mental health, and self love and development, etc. They are genuine, hard working, humble, and extremely talented, that is why they are famous and loved through out the world. I'm a 56 year old ARMY (BTS Fandom), and I've never loved a group of musicians more than BTS. They have created a community of people that spred their message of Love Yourself, and Follow Your Dreams, and Don't give up, and keep going, we can do this together. BTS ARMY are one of a kind, because BTS are one of a kind. Sorry I went on a rant, you will find that BTS fans are very passionate about supporting BTS, and spreading their message. I would like to recommend an introduction video that will tell you their story from the perspective of the Fandom. This one is very well done, by an ARMY that does video editing for a living, and she actually got the input from the fandom and incorporated it into her intro. It's the best one out their as far as introductions. We don't mind watching longer videos as well. So here you go. @@Kazilla. It might surprise you but over 50 % of ARMY (the fans) are over 30+ yrs. For a 'boyband' the fandom has very little percentage of teenage fans (about 23%), the most is over 20 and beyond. Also a big percentage are male. That is only one indicator why these seven young men are as big as they are today. They are the biggest band in the world, not KPop not Pop, just THE BIGGEST ACT. It was a very fortunate day when these guys came together and eventually formed BTS (short for Bangtan Sonyeondan aka Bulletproof Boyscouts). They were all between 15 and 20 when they debuted back in 2013, s boyscouts indeed. Oh and to end it as I started it: I belong to that 30% bracket. I am 55.

They do hip hop, R&B, ballads, latin pop...etc. His lyrics are about self-love, mental health, issues of society , gratitude to his fans...etc. You could react to "RUN BTS" Busan concert, "ON kinetic manifesto", "DOPE". Just Rap line: "UGH" busan concert or "OUTRO: TEAR" Wembley( This song is about when they had problems and thought about disbanding in 2018). 70 year old BTS Army here. Fun fact: 25% of BTS Army (fans) are over 40. I like to just call them a "group" and that works for most of us. Just so you know, almost every performer wears stage makeup. Even news anchors wear makeup. The intense lighting washes them out. BTS is on a higher level and that is why they are the biggest group worldwide not just Kpop. They are heavily involved with writing and producing most of their own music since they have been given artistic freedom by their label. That artistic freedom is not promoted in the rest of the world of Kpop. Other labels hand their groups songs and tell them to sing it. BTS paved the way and have moved way beyond Kpop globally. They have won over 700 awards worldwide including the Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards where they have won 11 awards, two from this year. They have won a record breaking 12 Billboard Music Awards. They have also been nominated for five Grammy Awards with three this year just announced. Two of them are with Coldplay. The song you picked to react to here was their first Grammy nomination in 2020, "Dynamite". It received a lot of airplay. They have broken records held for decades by the Beatles and Michael Jackson just to name two. I suggest you watch BTS "ON Kinetic Manifesto Film" next and then a recent "Run BTS Dance Practice. There is also a very recent "Yet to Come Concert in Busan" performance with opening songs "Mic Drop" followed by "Run BTS" that you should see. Watch them both, one right after the other. You should also react to what is recommended for you by other members of BTS Army. Very good first reaction especially since you know nothing about them. Enjoy your journey down the BTS rabbithole should you choose to jump in. It has been life changing for so many. 💜

I'm going to comment as I watch. Yes bts is the biggest. They've been around since 2013. It's very likely that you've heard Dynamite (the first song) before because it was a international hit especially in the U.S. From Samsung commercials to sports games it was everywhere. Its their song. Dynamite, Butter (which you may have heard as well but not realized it), and Permission to Dance are their only full english songs; the rest are primarily in Korean. A good rule of thumb when it come to bts is whatever you think/assume about them, forget it. They're not like typical kpop or a typical boy group. They're following is not just teen girls. They make music in a variety of genres. No matter what song or video you start on, no singular video will ever show you their full potential. They have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. Their rappers are REAL rappers too. It may be skipping ahead but if you want to get an idea of their abilities I suggest Outro:Tear (which is a rapline song, so only the rappers). If you want to see vocal line's abilities I recommend The Truth Untold if you like ballads or Dimple if you want something upbeat.

Bts is the greatest underdog story of all time. From a company right before bankruptcy, sharing one room, recording their first album in a garage, being hated and bullied by their peers in the industry, to the biggest group in the world, maybe of all time with 5 grammy nominations and the ability to sell out a stadium world tour in minutes. There is sooo much depth to everything they do, the music is great, the lyrics are awesome, their stage presence and dancing is incomparable. And while achieving all of this, they are all, above all, great human beings, humble, polite, with an unprecedented work ethic. They have a real bond among themselves, they truly love each other, they support each others solo projects etc. Their whole career has been played out on social media, so the fans have a feel like they have seen them grow up and there is a sense of pride there, and the want to protect them, b/c to this day, these guys have faced some enourmous hate, attempts at sabotage, foul media play, death threats, bullying of all kind, later when they broken to the US, racism and xenophobia as well. The bond they have with their fandom ARMY hasnt been seen in the music industry to this day, ever. One gripe, BTS is bigger than the whole kpop industry combined. When you look at a pie chart, over half is BTS, with Black pink sharing the other half with the rest of the kpop groups. BP is on a tour right now and they had somewhat trouble selling out 10-15k arenas. BTS in 2019 sold out Wembley stadium twice in like 90 minutes. So all in all NO comparison. I look forward to more BTS content from you. Good luck and ignore the occasional toxic morons in the comments.

BTS have been around since 2013 and for the most part write their own music with the help of their in-house staff but Dynamite is one of the very few tracks they had no hand creating. The rapline - blue, black and red mics do write their own bars and have mixtapes/solo albums showcasing their own voices outside of the group. The group's leader, Namjoon with the blue hair, does write most of their songs but all of the others have their own writing credits, too. He'll be releasing a solo album called Indigo in December with a lot of well known featured artists. Sadly you're being introduced to them now when the oldest member Jin, third from the right, will be enlisting in the Korean military for around 2 years next month since December 4th is his 30th birthday. I bet they're older than you thought! The others will be enlisting when their personal schedule allows but the rapper with the black mic is the next to hit 30 in March which is age limited they NEED to have it done by. Outside of an official announcement stating that they will be enlisting along with a notice that the entire group won't be back together as 7 until 2025 we don't have details on when it'll happen. However you have almost 10 years of content to wade through and they're actively working on side projects that they didn't have the time for. Sorry for the LONG post and lots of information but make sure the CCs are on for official MVs. Anything that says auto translated is going to be incorrect in terms of lyrics. These boys are really something special and for me a once in a lifetime act who I've seen live twice and they honestly set the bar crazy high in regards to what I want to see from any artist going forward.

@@Kazilla. yup. Also the leader role isn't like the best person on the team or anything. In BTS it means help translating the ideas from the team to the company and vice versa. Rm was the first to join as well. By the time they were doing interviews that required English (not forced but instances where speaking English would be better) as well as doing some english lyrics, rm would speak English and translate for the other members. This is BTS' first song in English which brought them to their first Grammy nomination in 2021. The only Korean Boy group to get Grammy Nomination. They have won over 800 awards including American Music Awards 11 wins and Billboard Music Award 12 wins. Their second all English song BUTTER brought them again to their second Grammy nomination in 2022. Just last week it was announced that they have 3 Grammy nominations again for 2023. They have broken records of legendary artists such as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Celine Dion etc. They have spoken in the UN General Assembly 3 times and just In May this year they were invited by Pres. Biden in the White House to speak about Asian hate. They are producers, composers and song writers. They are incomparable to any other KPOP or even western boy bands of today's generation. They were called by people as the Beatles of the 21st century but they said they would rather be called BTS of the 21st century because it's quite a pressure for them to be called the Beatles. Their music genre include, pop, Hiphop, EDM, R&B, Latin Pop, Balad etc. They are known for their deep, poetic and beautiful lyricism, live stage performance and incredible choreography. Getting a ticket to their concerts is like hunger games. Just recently, the youngest member, Jungkook performed during the opening of FIFA. Their Fandom is called ARMY. We are not just bunch of kids and teenagers but adults aging 20s to even 60s and 70s. I am a 47 year old married woman who fell in love with this amazing and talented young men. They are not just talented artists and performers, they are also philanthropist, fashionistas, brand kings and influencers. Whatever products they touch are sold out. They have collaborated with famous western artist such as Nikki Mina, Halsey, Steve Aoke, Cold Play, Charlie Puth and many others. Each member has their own solo songs and OST which charted #1 on ITunes for more than 100 countries. They are indeed the biggest group in the world. And FYI, they only did covers when they were just rookies. Thanks for Reacting to our boys.

That they have only done covers as rookies isn't completely true. They performed Fix You (by Coldplay, I think) on their MTV Unplugged performance. RM made an Old Town Rd cover called Seoul Town Rd that brought the group to it's first performance on the Grammy stage with Little Nas X and others that covered his song. Jungkook's cover of Savage Love by Jason Derulo debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100's list (becoming the group's second or third #1 on that list in about a month or so). And of course their remake of JCole's song Born Sinner is well loved by ARMY as Born Singer, and we are finally able to have it recorded on their anthology PROOF released in May 2022. I think there are a few others, but I can't remember now, and they just seem to master whatever they sing as if it was always their own, lol. There's probably a few released on their solo efforts on SoundCloud too.

If you’re more rap heavy, def check out their songs that are more rap line heavy like RUN BTS, UGH, Outro Tear, or some of their solo work like Arson by J-Hope (highly recommend I drove 9 hours to chicago to see this live), Daechwita by Agust D, or Joke by RM! I think those are some that someone more inclined to hip hop wouldn’t expect BTS to do and would really enjoy dissecting some impressive bars

56 yr old ARMY from Tennessee, USA. I am SO happy to watch a fellow American “get it” instead of being judgmental because it’s different! You said that rap and R&B are your favorite genres, so I’m going to make some suggestions. “Black Swan” (you’ll love it), “ON: Kinetic Manifesto Film Come Prima” (features The Blue Devils Drum Corp and “World of Dance” season 2 winners, The Lab, from California), “Run BTS” Dance practice (this was just released and will give you a great appreciation for their dancing abilities), “Fake Love”, “Louder Than Bombs” (a masterpiece), “We On” and, lastly “Don’t Leave Me”. This last one is, in my opinion, the most underrated BTS song. It’s hauntingly beautiful. BTS has over 300 tracks in their discography when you include all of their solo work. It’s almost impossible to put into words how much they mean to me and what kind of impact they’ve had on my life. I’ll also put in my vote for the 2 best videos to get to know them. These are the only 2 that are up to date as of 2022. “The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (2022 update)” by Rice Squad and “A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7” by Taylor. Both are long videos, but if you truly want to get to know them, we ARMYs will be here to support you. Good luck if you choose to jump down the rabbit hole. Borahae 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

The thing I love about them is their lyrics tell the truth no matter how ugly that truth is, but even when they are covering a topic as dark as suicide, they always maintain a thread of hope. Spring Day is one of my favourite songs because of how it describes grief, the sadness, longing and love that come with grief, but also the anger and resentment no one talks about. When I found BTS and Spring Day, I was deeply grieving for someone, and I felt so guilty and ashamed of how angry I was with them when they had been sick... Suga's verse made me cry from relief at realising that my anger, resentment and borderline hatred were normal and it didn't mean I didn't also love the person I lost. Spring Day freed me from that shame and guilt, helped me let go of the anger and made my grief an ache instead of splintered glass. I recommend listening to BTS room live as it is a medley of different songs covering a seriously wide range of genres, and if you want to headbang to very angry rap, I recommend the recent live performance of UGH and Cypher Part 3. If you want to dive more into BTS' lyricism, I recommend checking out some videos of songs explaining the lyrics to BTS songs by DKDKTV, fan favourites include Baepsae Dis-ease Ddaeng You have no idea how insanely talented BTS are at writing lyrics, their wordplay is no joke, and so much gets lost in translation. The main lyricists of the group are the three rappers, RM, Suga and J-Hope :)

@@Kazilla. Yeah, I found a lot of music I could relate to would end up making me feel worse because there was no hope in it, but happier music made me feel isolated and alone. BTS strike that perfect balance between relatability and hope, making so much of their music deeply empathetic and comforting. They don't only write about mental health though, Baepsae is about socioeconomic injustice, and in 2016 they risked their entire career to release a political protest song during a time of significant government corruption and media censorship. They then performed it multiple times on national TV (song is Am I Wrong, the blog Muish ramblings gives an excellent translation). I love that BTS have integrity even when it doesn't benefit them and could harm their career. That is very rare in the entertainment industry.

@@loftyradish6972 Couldn't agree with you more. I can't relate to most new music (I grew up with and love classical music and the great oldies like Ella Fitzgerald... but then I'd randomly like songs like Linkin' Park's Numb, or pretty much all of Bjork's album, Post). I don't vibe with most "mainstream" music because 90% of the time, it feels like it comes from a very hopelessly downtrodden, extremely cynical and callous place, and it makes me feel worse - like you said. I might even like a song but if it makes me feel worse after listening to it a while, then I just have to stop. Sadly, this was the case with some Muse songs - I LOOOVED a lot of their songs from the album "The Resistance", but after a while, I had to admit that it made me feel angry and totally hopeless, like the world's just gonna die soon because we killed it (as true as it may be, it's not the mental trajectory I want to be on - and shouldn't be on if we're to have any hope of thriving). Maybe I should go back and re-listen to see how it affects me now. Anyway, I found BTS about two years ago, and just like you said, they can go deep into all kinds of emotional black holes and yet somehow it doesn't leave you feeling awful and hopeless. Maybe it's because of the force of their personalities coming through. There's something about them that brings you up instead of dragging you down, no matter what they're singing about. Plus their story is so surprising. Most of us assume at first that since they're so popular, they must've had it easy from the beginning and that they're probably just catering to the lowest-common-denominator/non-discerning masses (yes, that mindless teeny-bopper stereotype) - but finding out that this isn't the case AT ALL... it was a fascinating trip down the rabbit hole. And I'm still in it, haha. They are just great human beings, with integrity and authenticity in everything they put out in the world. Even when they swear (in rap line songs), it feels like a humanizing release... but that only works because we know that they don't go around cussing in between every other word in daily life. Sorry for being so long-winded. It's hard to be succinct and minimal when it comes to BTS.

@@Nilaratna Haha, I know that feeling. Prior to finding BTS I mostly listened to The National and early Silverchair, and it was a one way train to the depths of depression. I also found Keane, and their music had hope similar to BTS, but I associate Keane with a not great time of my life, so while they gave me comfort then, I don't listen to them any more. I used to just close my eyes and listen to First Love and The Last and letting myself just _feel_ I was pretty numb and dissociated back then but the rawness of Yoongi's rapping let me feel and start to process the emotions and memories I had been suppressing. I have found quite a few Korean artists do hope similarly to BTS. I think it comes from the Korean concept of Han. BTS do it best, but I also really enjoy some of Epic High, Crush, Dean, Suran, The Rose, IU, Lee Hi and Hyukoh's music and lyrics for the relatability and hope.

@@loftyradish6972 So great to hear that, and happy for you for... resurfacing. The Last gives me that sense of release/catharsis as well. Somehow comforting despite the pain/rawness. I never even listened to rap before BTS. Unlike the typical "dull/monotone" rap I'd heard in passing (in English), BTS' rap voices sound dynamic, raw, emotional, lively, and yes, angry when called for. I was nicely surprised and so impressed. Korean syllables work so well with rap too. As for Han, I won't go there as it's such a hugely complex concept with different interpretations, but I get what you mean. ☺

Another fact is that BTS is not a pop group, they are originally a hip-hop group but now they cover multiple genres in their music. Almost 70% of their songs have a heavy hip-hop influence. But their few pop songs(in their billions views) are the most known because they blew up in America and the rest of the world. They can REALLY rap and their rapping skills have been compared many times with Eminem without any problem. Thy are the biggest rappers in Korea, and the biggest group in the world, with over 850 awards. Black Pink is a great group but they cannot be compared to BTS for this reasons: 1. BTS turned a company that was near bankruptcy into the most profitable K-pop company, they were nobodies that used to live and sleep in the same bedroom because their company had no money, so it was really really hard for BTS to blow up. While BlackPink were famous since the beginning because their company was huge when they debuted and they had many resources for promotions. 2. BTS were involved in writing and producing their songs since the beginning, their lyrics are so deep and intellectual that are based of books and past thinkers. If you read their song lyrics is like reading a reflection of them. So genuine and honest. While BlackPink lyrics have no deep meaning and are written by other people. Don't get me wrong, I like BP's music and I know how hardworking and talented they are but BTS is in another level. I'm only doing this comparisson for you to have a general idea. If you want to hear the rap line spit some bars react to UGH! and Cypher pt3 at the Yet to come Busan concert. This is a MUST.

New sub from South Africa 🇿🇦 You were wondering about their story…The group was formed by Big Hit Entertainment, from 2010-2012. They were recruited in various ways - auditions mostly, but Jin was approached getting off a bus, because he was handsome and KPop groups have “visuals”. None of them knew each other before signing as they are from different parts of Korea. I will give you a breakdown, from the order of how they are sitting here for Tiny Desk, from left to right: JHope - stage name, real name HoSeok, nickname Hobi; rapper, main dancer, born Feb 1994; Suga - stage name, real name Yoongi, rapper, born March 1993; Jungkook, nickname Jk/Kookie, main vocalist, lead dancer, born Sept 1997 (youngest); V - stage name, real name Taehyung, nickname Tae, vocalist, born December 1995; Jin - stage name, real name SeokJin, vocalist, born December 1992 (eldest); RM - stage name, real name NamJoon, official leader, rapper, born September 1994; Jimin, vocalist, main dancer, born October 1995. They lived together in a very tiny apartment in the early years, then moved to bigger apartments (all seven shared one bedroom in the beginning, with them still sharing in bigger apartments - Jimin, Hobi, and Tae shared, Yoongi and Jin shared, and RM and Jungkook shared for a while, but then they got their own rooms). Up until this year, they still had an apartment that they shared when their schedules needed them to be together, but the lease expired in June 2022. They have had their own homes for a few years, and now they stay in them - but they spent so many years in very close quarters, together 24/7, that they are now an extremely close family, and call each other brothers. The three rappers are the most prolific song writers in the group - well over 100 songs each, and RM approaching 200 - although all seven have written and composed. Suga is the most prolific producer, and he has produced for many other artists too, but again, all have produced, with the rappers taking the lead. They all dabble with instruments, but Suga is the only one who is truly proficient - he is an excellent pianist. They debuted in 13th June 2013. They mostly sing in Korean, with some English phrases but they have three all-English tracks, all of which were No1 on Billboard (Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance). Their discography is varied and immense. In KPop, members often have official roles - main dancer, lead dancer or main vocalist or leader. Main is the top, followed by lead. But for BTS, they don’t really follow this strictly anymore, although Jungkook, as the main vocalist, does have the most parts, and tends to hold the song together with backing vocals and ad libs, and Hobi and Jimin tend to take the lead when it comes to dance. Hobi has a background in street dance as a youngster and Jimin went to a performing arts high school and majored in contemporary dance (he also did martial arts as a kid, which influenced his dance somewhat). All Korean men, over the age of 18, have to serve 18-24 months in the military (technically South Korea is still at war with North Korea), before the age of 28 - there was a special extension given, so BTS qualified to defer military service to age 30. But Jin, the eldest will be 30 in December so the time has come for them to enlist. They will be in a break for this and hope to regroup in 2025 - Jin will enlist in December this year. Yoongi won’t be far behind as he will be 30 in March next year, but they all have some solo projects to release over the next few months, after which they will all enlist in turn (I think), so probably by the end of next year they will all be in the army. In Korea, the surname is usually said first, so for example RM would be Kim NamJoon, with Kim being his surname. They also often use “Korean age”, where their age is 1-2 years older than how we would measure it in the West (that’s why I gave you their birth years, you will hear them say their ages, but it can be confusing). BTS is at its best on stage, these guys are the most incredible performers, so Army especially love it if you watch them perform live, although we also love reactions to mv’s too of course - some of their mv’s have a storyline running through them, related to something called the BU, or Bangtan Universe. Oh, and BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan which means Bulletproof Boy Scouts, and they are sometimes referred to as “Tannies”. There is a very strong bond between BTS and Army, and they will defend and protect us, as we will defend and protect them, because they have gone through a tonne of hate, as have we. But sometimes there will be a toxic “fan” who will jump all over you over stupid stuff - so please, if that happens, just block them and ignore, don’t let them get to you - the internet has some crazies. True Army will support your BTS journey, we love seeing new people discover BTS - and you don’t have to love every song, we all have our own taste - as long as you are respectful, it’s cool (and you seem like a respectful dude). BTS fandom is called Army. 💜💜

It's less than 14 minutes long and it perfectly summarizes what they are all about, the meaning behind their group name, their backstory, their intentions and relationship they have with each other as well as their fanbase called "ARMY". There are other amazing intros that go further into detail about each member individually, but this one is a great starting point to the whole group as a whole(it doesn't go into deep detail about each member). I highly recommend you watch it first then go into other longer introduction videos like "A Guide To BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Man or "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story Of BTS" by Rice Squad as I have seen recommended.

I understand that the vast majority of people (regular people...producers...vocal analysts or MV editors, etc...) react to BTS songs primarily out of curiosity... to see what happens ... why are they so popular and successful ... in an interview, the leader of BTS, RM... explained very clearly the key to their success: 50% - ARMY; 5% - each member of BTS , which means 35% and the remaining 15% they attribute to the agency that had the courage and confidence that these boys will make history in the world of music... rM explained very clearly that this percentage "keeps" them on the ground... This is precisely why, to understand and appreciate the music and personality of the BTS members, you must definitely take it from the beginning, to gradually see how they got so popular... in 2019 I also joined the ranks of "ARMY", I am 54 years old and I am proud of these people who made my life much more pleasant with their existence!

They say that they write like a music camp. Each of them has a lyric or a piece of music that they take to the Producer he then can tell them if it fits in the song or another then after they put the song together they decide who will sing which piece, this is decided by all of them. As for Dynamite it was written by an outside source but this is their song. You may have heard it on a commercial or two but this is their song. When they first started they did a few Korean song covers then on MTV Unplugged they covered "Fix You" but all their other songs they sing are their songs. As far as their size in Korea their are large member groups. Groups with 10 to 20 members, so 7 is not that large.

Omg this was so cute, they had me dancing and sing along to the three songs, the choice of songs sent e from being happy to sad and i went in a roller coaster of emotions. DynAMIte had me singing and dancing along and i so wanted to be that vinyl record so badly. Save Me had me in my feelings as i was smiling along, swaying and also Jimin, Tae and Jungkook dancing along to the chorus had me laughing so much. Spring Day i had a tear in my eye thru that song and the vocals during it had me in my feelings so badly. And dont get me started on their clothes, i mean Jiminie OMG i was just speechless and on a side note every members english has improved so much im just in love with it, also i love it when they perform with a live band as it just gives off another kind of vibe and its the best when they perform with a live band.

I’m 73 from southern Calif. and Army. They do all kinds of music from RandB to rapping. Their dancing and singing on stage is unbelievable. They are number one world wide. They have broken all records of Beatles Micheal Jackson they work with to artist from around the world. They have been invited to UN three times and invited to White House to meet with President on Asian affairs. Made diplomats in Korea. They sell out venues of 90 thousand in minutes around world. They write and produce their music. They have been together since 2010 just kids and went through hell to get to where they are. Spring day is about a ship wreck in Korea where over 200 school children were killed. Read up on it. Also many videos telling about their rise and about them individually. Also about their charities and their work with unicef. These boys would reactive hours on end lived in a one bedroom apt. They are humble kind talented respectful one of a kind. Also they have us Army the biggest Army in the world. Millions of us are devoted

It is not important to be their fan, it is not important to be part of the army. The main thing is if you decide to listen to them and love them as they are. See all their tears, selfless work. what knocks me out about this is in dynamite, the key change I love, and everyone else strains and pushes those notes out, and Jimin just opens his mouth and the notes fall out. sheesh. Save me, J-Hope slayed me. I had to stop and rewind too. You think this is good, they do this while dancing, live, on a huge stage with backing vocals and HOT mics. People go nuts over them doing that with all their songs, most don't realize how hard parts of this song are to sing. and Jin... his vocals are so clear.

Thanks for reacting to BTS ! I think they will surprise you on many levels, you're on to a whole lot of surprises ! BTS has, no lie, the wildest range of music any artist have and hundreds of songs. That means, no matter what your genre is, you'll find songs you like and some you'll enjoy less. Anyways, as much as medias like to put groups in a box, BTS is no typical "boyband" and even in the Kpop industry, they're totally different. They're pionniers in some way and to these days, I haven't seen any artist that big being so normal out of stage. They're brothers, and I'm saying that in the less cheesy way ever :’) They literally act like brothers, bickering, laughing, crying, annoying each other... everything. But most of all, they've been working very hard for a decade, literally starting from scratch in a company that was on the verge on bankruptcy only to have made this company one of the biggest economic sources in South Korea nowadays. BTS members write, produce, take part in the artistic concepts, music videos, dance choreographies, ideas... Everything basically, in collaboration with their company staff and artists. They're really on a line of their own and I think you'll see that for yourself when you react to more. That being said, I can't wait to see more of your reactions :) Also, I think you should definitely react to the different fan-made guides about BTS. They'll put you on many informations about the group, the members, how they work and everything basically. Because above learning about their group history, these guides make you understand their music a lot more in some way. That was my case when I first became a fan (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). I guess learning about the background of each member, their background as a group and the way they work for their craft, makes you understand the music (and the artistry) in a much more complete way. The 2 most complete (and amazingly made) guides are : - A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 (by Taylor) - THIS IS BTS | Introduction to BTS (by xCeleste) In any case, I hope you'll enjoy the journey !!

I was around for music in the 60s and value musicians with a good message. Thank you for checking out Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS's Korean name). Had to edit this when I heard you mention that you feel like you need a lighter to hold up and sway. We have lightsticks called ARMY bombs (ARMY - Adorable M.C. for Youth is the fandom name). I'm 46 and love these guys. People have their bias' but I'm OT7 it's to hard for me to choose. Everyone is so good and unique in their own right. I dont feel one is better then the other.... These guys are considered to be the best in the world. They are 4x grammy nominated. Won multple awards for multiple years at the billboards. MTV awards. American music awards and many many more. I think as of now they have over if not close to 800 awards from around the world. I would say Black pinkis 2nd but really Stray Kids, TXT, Seventeen they are all about they same. But BTS is beyond music. And the reason they are who they have. They bring in like 4 billion a year to their economy. Watch the guide to bangtan 7 by Taylor. These guys are amazing. They sing in so many genres. Right now they are on break for 2 years and only focusing on solo stuff because they have to go to the mandatory military. Jin who is the oldest has to go 1st and then front here they will each go when it's time. But they have plans on reuniting in 2025 when their military will be done. But there is so much BTS content out there to watch study listen watch. Studio is awesome live will blow you away. Please enjoy. Go down that rabbit hole lol.

Some recommendations for you: Festa Room Live, which is a medley of their B-sides through their career. Mic Drop-Steve Aoki Remix (the non-remix is fire too, but doesn't have a music video), Dope, Fire, Idol, Not Today are all bangers. For slower, more ballad type songs: Spring Day, Black Swan, or Life Goes On. Dynamite is actually their song, not a cover. it was everywhere when it came out, even in the States. I will give you a brief overview of how they came together. Sometimes intro videos being recommended to you skip basic information. In 2006 record producer Bang Shi hyuk aka Hitman Bang formed the music label/ company "BIGHIT entertainment" after leaving jyp entertainment label. He comanaged a few groups with jyp to stay afloat in the business. But the groups his company put together and comanaged barely brought in any success. Bang shi hyuk wanted to revolutionarize the music industry that treated artists as puppets and wanted to change it and put artistic integrity first. He didn't know how to do that tho. In 2010 Sleepy, a rapper and friend of bang pd went to a underground rappers club perfomance, where he saw 16 year old Kim Namjoon aka Runch Randa, his then rap persona. He then went an talked about this kid to bang pd. Bang pd saw that the kid has insane lyric writing and rap skills and he couldn't waste this opportunity. Namjoon auditioned in front of bang pd, then became the first ever trainee for bighit. Several of namjoons rapper friends like supreme boy, iron etc joined bighit with him, The temporary name given to this rap group, was bullet proof boys or BPB. The group participated in competitions and perfomances. Bang pd then advertised an audition for positions in the group BPB. Thats how min yoongi (underground rapper, called gloss also a producer)found a poster and audiotioned for the group. Bang pd promised him he wouldn't have to do performance or dance and that he would be a producer. Jung hoseok (Street dancer, part of a group called neuron), was a trainee in jyp competitions, after winning a cash prize, he moved to bighit. He joined the rap group and then watched the other rappers freestyling after moving into the dorms of the company. He picked up rapping from watching and sometimes joining the rappers freestyle sessions. At one point they had 7 rappers in the group, Kim namjoon, min yoongi, jung hoseok, iron, supreme boi, kidoh, i11even. Then namjoons (RM) friends left the group dude to several troubles in the company. Only yoongi (suga) and hoseok (jhope) stayed. Bang shi hyuk then changed the idea for the group, and decided they would make it a more idol type group. Jin was recruited on the street after he got off a bus. A worker at bighit saw him and grabbed him and asked him to join the company. Jungkook was a 13 year old who auditioned for a TV program called superstar k, he failed the auditions but got calls from 7 different companies. He chose Bighit after seeing RMs rap videos on KZfaq. He came to the bighit dorm a few days after jin. Bangpd conducted more auditions. That's how Taehyung who was from a small town found the auditions after accompanying his friend who was participating. The company staff saw him sitting there and asked him if he wants to give it a go. he was the only one who passed from his town. Jimin was a top contemporary dance student at an art school who auditioned for bighit after his teacher encouraged him. He was the last member to join in 2012. The group debuted as BTS in 2013.

Loved this first reaction to BTS, thank you for being so open-minded and paying attention. I feel like you would like one of the members Yoongi's solo work (the second one on the left with a black jacket). He's one of the three rappers in BTS and has written and produced two albums, Agust D and D-2, under his solo name Agust D. His music vary from hardcore diss tracks to his haters (many used to look down on him for becoming an Idol from Korean underground rap) to softer or deeper songs where he raps about themes like mental health, youth, the world, life, and his own experiences and struggles. His use of words in incredible. I hope you continue watching even more of BTS (you'll be surprised how talented and humble all of them are) but even if not I would recommend checking these albums out in your free time :)

Great reaction! I appreciate how open minded you are. As you can tell, ARMYs are very passionate about BTS. Was going to recommend Taylor’s Guide to BTS. A lot of times they put so much symbolism into their music videos and without being Korean, we miss the cultural and language context. I highly recommend checking out explanation videos (viewers love a combo MV/explanation video). Since you enjoyed Spring Day, this is a good place to start by watching the MV and I recommend the Bulletproof Vibes explanation. Generally the first that pops up in a search is the best. Ugh MV and the DKDKTV explanation for example. Even when it seems light like with Idol, check out DKDKTV’s explanation. All of these things will make you appreciate them even more. 💜
