I bought the Barista Touch in October. Got it on sale $200 off. I use the Americano Feature on weekdays and milk drinks for the weekend. I weigh in my coffee as well. Great machine and work flow.

Agree, work flow is surprisingly good. You got a deal too - Breville did a big price increase around that time.

Thanks for the review, I ended up purchasing it and am so excited! Could you please share your recommendation for the beans? I remember you mentioned Chicago roasted beans in one of your videos. Thank you!

Dark Matter - Unicorn Blood is my favorite espresso roast. It’s very easy to dial in and a Chicago roaster. You’re going to love the Touch!

Great video! What filter did you use and what brewing temperature do you recommend?
@craftcoffeespot
@craftcoffeespot 6 ай бұрын
I use the two-cup non-pressurized filter basket always (the big one with holes on the bottom). I rarely change my brewing temperature, as you should really focus on grind size and coffee-to-water ratio first. You should watch my video on the Barista Pro review (filmed around the same time) which has a good dialing in walkthrough to get the right settings.

Great video! Thanks 🙏 Would you be able to review and compare between the barista touch and the barista touch impress machines?

I’ve looked into the Touch Impress quite a bit, and have reviewed the similar Express Impress, so I have a good idea. My thoughts: 1) if you have the budget, get the Touch Impress. The tamping system is really nice when combined with the steam wand. 2) Breville adds good tweaks to brewing, including lower pressure (9 bars vs 10 bars) and volumetric dosing (vs timed dosing). 3) they say the Touch Impress steam wand is better, but it’s almost the same. I did lots of Oat milk on the Touch with no issue. So, If you’re already interested in the auto milk steaming and ok paying over the $1k, getting the Touch Impress will just add another level of creature comfort with tamping. The extra tweaks on espresso/milk steaming are nice, but incremental. It’s really that extra ease of use that makes the Touch Impress feel like a $2k+ Jura E8, or better.

Very helpful. What number grind did you use please?
@craftcoffeespot
@craftcoffeespot 7 ай бұрын
I tend to be grind 8-9, but it really depends. You want to grind finer until your shot takes 30 seconds to flow. That make take several attempts and will change with your beans. In general, grind finer.

maybe a silly question, but I've combed your videos about this machine and can't find the answer either there or online--how many holes does the steam wand for this machine have?
@craftcoffeespot
@craftcoffeespot Ай бұрын
Four. It’s a good steam wand, mostly because the Thermojet is more powerful.

Why on my breville touch the milk temperature is until 75 degree only??

Above that temperature causes the milk to burn and taste like eggs...

Is it meant to be on double shot? Or? I just brought this machine and when i put it on single shot i find it isnt doing much! And then im finding it isnt even brewing 😢 help please!

Let a few shots of water run through without a portafilter to fill up the inner tubing. Be careful of grinding too fine. Also, I’d contact Breville if you got a serious issue - you have a warranty.

For oat milk you said go two settings higher, what do you mean?
@craftcoffeespot
@craftcoffeespot 9 ай бұрын
It's the froth setting, which is the cup icon underneath the milk button. I use a "5" froth level for oat milk and "3" for whole milk. Oat milk has less fat than whole milk, so you should increase the froth setting by two levels to get the same result.

@@craftcoffeespot thanks I just did. Using medium beans. I have to go 2 inner and 1 outer to get the flow at 8 seconds. Not sure why i have to go so low. It is definitely the grind setting as I made sure the puck is perfect

@craftcoffeespot 4 ай бұрын
@@neoanderz that sounds off. I’ve rarely changed inner burr, across several models. Main change was when I modified the Barista Express. I’d contact Breville and say you may have a faulty grinder.

At 4:28 min you have grind size 11 … At 4:21 min you have gs. 12 At 5:40 you have gs. 10 ?????
@craftcoffeespot
@craftcoffeespot Ай бұрын
We did several cuts to get it right and I believe the final setting was 11. However, it depends on your beans!! Tweak your grind setting unit it takes roughly 30 seconds to finish a shot that is a 1:2 ratio of coffee:espresso. This is where you should get a scale as well.
