Yep, I'm persuaded too. Thank you, François. Nice to see an Aussie manufacturing company that has such an international presence. They're marketed under the 'Breville' brandname here downunder, and are literally half the price you paid in the UK, if you shop around a bit. Very good value for a machine with these specs. I hope it's durable. Looking forward my my own unboxing session soon. Salut!

There is also a function to press and hold the manual button while brewing coffee to increase the pre infusion time for as long as you need and when you let go, the pressure only ramp up. Is fun to play with the pre infusion sometime.

Thanks Kelvin, I knew about the slayer mode but not this one. I am gonna check it out. Thanks a lot. Which grinder do you use?
@Kev376
@Kev376 Жыл бұрын
Holding the manual button basically makes the machine start pre infusion, and you can hold it in as long as you want then when you let go the machine goes up to 9 bar and starts pulling, this isn't the slayer mod though that determines the flow, this just allows you to decide how long you want to pre infuse.

I absolutely dig your accent, temperature, the way you pronounce it is better than the english mother-tongued people do. This is a lovely video that covers all the bases for people considering this machine too. I enjoyed some of the points you made regarding the wand, grinder situation, and water tank.

Thanks a lot Oldsk001, I really appreciate the comment and your feedback. I have to say I am sometime struggling to pronounce that word... haha. How are you finding your Dual Boiler?
@oldsk00l
@oldsk00l 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheFrenchReview it's a wonderful machine, we love ours and have been very pleased. Upgrading from the thermocoil based system to a dual boiler was an adjustment in a very good way. On-demand steam as opposed to waiting for the thermocoil to heat up is especially nice. I have concerns about how long it will last and how difficult it will be to acquire parts as the machine ages, but aside from that it's really quite lovely to have.

Hi Francois, thank you for the video. I am currently looking for a successor for my 10 years old Gastroback, which is similar to the Sage Batista Express. A big disadvantage of this machine ist, that the holder in the machine for the Portalfilter is made out of plastic. I had to replace it, because it was worn out. I am wondering if this is still the case for the Dual Boiler? Is it plastic? Thx a lot

I have Barista Express and i struggle with too much pressure. I read that Barista Express has too strong pump and over presure valve is not correctly set. It is very hard to pour good shot with this expres. What abaout Dual Boiler? Do you expirience something like this? Does presure clock went over 9 bars when you pour your shots?

Salut Francois!

I don't know why everyone keeps saying this machine is expensive when it's only 999 AUD in Australia which is not even 750 USD!! Even now they updated the package that you have to purchase with the smart grinder, it is still only 1599 AUD all together and at some places you can get them less than 1500AUD!!

Would you say the Smart Grinder Pro is a good combo with this machine? What size are you using on the grinder?
@TheFrenchReview
@TheFrenchReview 3 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question. I have been thinking about it for quite sometimes... I think the SGP is a great grinder and not too expensive compared to others in the market. That being said, the main down side for me is this coffee machine produce too much clumps of coffee to my taste. However you can get a tool to get rid of them quite easily. It's a great combo but I think next time I would probably go for a single dose coffee grinder. Which coffee grinder do you currently have? Grind size, it's a tough one as it depends of the type of beans and how fresh they are. ATM I am using a single Brazilian Blend, freshly roasted, dark. My grind side is 11. How about you?

@@TheFrenchReview I have the SGP but I don't have yet the Espresso machine. I am using it for filter V60 coffee. I stumbled on your review of the dual boiler as I am considering it vs the Rancilio Silvia Pro. I was wondering how it goes as I already have the SGP. :)

I was torn between the RSP and the SDB. I heard good things about the RSP. I have not used it but I can tell you why I went for the SDB. It's mostly down to having more control, set the length of the pre infusion, the length of the shot. You can switch the time shot for the volume shot. You can change the temperature of the coffee and steam boilers. The trip tray was bigger, the steam wand more powerful. being able to fill the coffee machine from the front top lid and the last but not least the auto turn on option, which comes in really handy and I use it every morning. However you do need space, compared to the RSP it is bigger but I do not regret my decision at all. Hope that helps

Honestly just bought this machine, have never owned an espresso machine in my life.. I practiced with some cheap horrible beans for the first dozen shots, then by the 3rd shot of good quality fresh beans it was as good as any latte i have ever had from a cafe.. Just a matter of getting that grind dialed in..
