Whats the use demonstrating how to make the flat white while you block our view filming

What about the felt washer? I almost tear it apart. What can be used in its place?

THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE BANNED -----DO NOT USE A VACUUM!!!!!!!!! - There is a felt-washer and a small/thin aluminium washer underneath the lower impeller that will easily get sucked in and deform which is impossible to fix ("The French Review" guy does not mention this, why??) Also, Sage/Breville will not sell you these as replacement parts and you might as well just put the machine in the bin! Without these washers coffee ingress will accumulate inside the machine where open electric circuits create fire risk since coffee dust is combustible. Furthermore, coffee ingress could access internal gears and cause build up in mechanical pressure and result in sharp metal debris become airborne (although second scenarios is less likely due to lower rpm)

have to agree that portafilter holder is just bad. i recommend using dosing cup to help with mess.also have noticed that sometimes grinder holds bit of grounds and spits it out and messes up your dosing. otherwise has been very good coffee you can pull out of it

I've had this machine for two weeks, and despite watching hundreds of videos, I haven't been able to access this problem : sometimes the machine makes me a coffee at 6 bars pressure, other times at 10 bars, and I still don't understand where my (probable) mistake comes from. My Nespresso is simpler 🤣. It's worse than a new computer

I brew in an insulated mug and pour it into the Aeropress and press it out, 2-minute brew time, works great

You failed to try the Prismo using a paper filter. The paper filter will remove the acidity that you don't like.

Sorry, but omitting to mention the felt-washer and the extra washer at the bottom makes this video unusable. Following your video caused me to ruin the felt-washer as i thought it was not supposed to be there. I will recommend following another video instead.

First, use the product the proper way, (filter was wrong), before you find fault. Secondly, the Fellow fits tightly because there's more pressure because of the valve. "It doesn't fit perfectly? It has more to clean?" What about any of the "mess" from any otjer method of making coffee? You lost your credibility with me.

Filter was attached wrong side up.. you should put the filter logo facing up, so you can see the logo when filter is in its basket or when you look though Aeropress cylinder.

Another washer below the impeller and then a fabric ring below that. Remove them before vacuuming. I like to clean out the chute from the grinding chamber that goes down to the portafilter holder/grinds container as well. This is where alot of plugging up can occur.

What do you think of the La Pavoni Kube Mill compared to either the Sage Smart Grinder Pro or the Eureka you mention in the video?

I don't know why people take issue with the hopper and lid. It's very good quality plastic and doesn't sound cheap and flimsy when you handle it. I got the smoked black version ("Fume" they call it at Eureka) and it's beautiful, and gives the grinder an interesting all black silhouette. These days you can also buy an optional metal or wood lid for the hopper from Eureka if you prefer. They also offer the "cleaning kit" which is essentially a round hopper with a black bellows that gives a different look and blows out coffee retention. I honestly wonder what the people who don't like this kind of quality plastic would prefer. Glass? Glass breaks. I also never bother to tighten the screw after I insert the hopper after monthly cleaning and it's a snug fit and doesn't wobble or sound cheap and hollow.

Is the coffee press you used included? Why do you not use the one attached to the machine? Also are you aware the sound cuts out during your video?

Honestly worthless review. Why would you think that a metal filter is similar to a paper filter? Did you try different grinds? It is possible that the paper filter removes some volatile organics. A little more work please? For me, I will use my espresso machine. When traveling, I will figure the grind needed to make a proper extraction and take this with me. Not messing with paper means I will never be without coffee, even in difficult situations. There are environmental issues as well, more paper waste, etc. But as usual, to each his own!

I opted for the Niche Zero for the simplicity of daily use and maintenance as well as the quietness and lower pitch while grinding. This is what I was benchmarking while shopping though and my friend just bought a Breville SGP so I'm looking up info for him as he has NO experience and doesn't live near enough for me to give him lessons 😂

You say in this video to undo the nut you must go anti clockwise. By the sound of the ratchet when you were undoing it and also the looks when you were doing it by hand you was going clockwise. Please correct me if I`m wrong.

is it ok to use a tootpick to remove the ground coffee in the bottom Bur? i notice after i did this, the grinder is not producing the same amount of cofee for the same setting

I have a trick for you, don’t fill the hob with coffee, instead get your dose from a dose cup, adjust the grinding time +5seconds to whatever grams you are putting in, yes make it run more than it’s supposed to, then weight your coffee output and you will find exactly the same amount of grams in, almost 0-1% retention. Have been doing that for the last 2 years.

After a week, the insides would be full. 20 grams in and 20 grams out seems obvious. In my mind this says nothing about retention. The question i have is; how many of those 20 grams are fresh? How many of those are retained but replenished by older coffee? Or is this a stupid question?

Grease the Bur and machine area where the coffee is collecting. Use a two part epoxy and bed that area to fill voids. Remove Bur after epoxy sets up. Clean grease and enjoy absolutely 0 retention.

To get the impeller out - just turn the grinder upside down and it will slide out. None of this knife mastery stuff.

$200 is not cheap! I have used my old Cuisinart mill for over 10 years and it was $48. If I didn't have a problem with that mill this Breville smart grinder would only disappoint a coffee snob!

I mean honestly, if you find the Prismo filter and attachment 'hard' to put on, you're either trying to sabotage the product in your review or you've got motor issues. With that, I think the default paper filter makes better coffee than the Prismo, but no problems with the Prismo attachment.

I bought the prismo right before I found out the new aeropress models have a similar valve. I prefer the paper filters over the metal prismo filter
