Congratulations on producing one of the best instruction and operating guide videos I have reviewed to date. I have owned a Technivorm Moccamaster, for around 5 years and it makes a great cup of coffee but it is really a manual process. I purchased a Breville Precision with thermal craft 2 years ago and use the My Brew feature. Using the same bloom time and temperature on both pieces of equipment results in equally great cups of coffee. Technivorm is rated as the gold standard by the European Coffee Association but just produces a great brewed coffee. Breville does so much more and it’s easy to use. Needless to say my Technivorm has been in retirement for the past 2 years

Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words Don. Really means a lot to us here at Crema. :) We have a well loved Breville that is used in our Espresso Bar everyday and it would have to be the staffs number one go to, them and every customer we have recommended it to. So happy to hear that others like yourself are enjoying it just as much as we are. Thanks again for watching & commenting. Happy Brewing from The Crema Crew!

I think that the permanent filter will let more (or all) coffee oil to go, while the paper filter will stop it. Which is an important difference.

Hi Timotei Afanasie, you are absolutely correct on this front! We have found that this difference isn't noticeable to most coffee drinkers generally, though it is definitely noticeable to experienced coffee professionals and coffee enthusiasts who favour methods like pour-over and French press. Thanks for watching and adding your comments, and happy brewing from the Crema crew!

Similar to what Reece has mentioned, I would like to know if the carafe imparts off flavors into the coffee. I have tried many stainless steel coffee tumplers and decided to just use a ceramic cup becuase in metal ones the coffee tastes metallic or 'tin'y to me. Also, for brewing smaller batches, would you recommend Brevelle over Mocamaster ?

@CremaCoffeeGarage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kannan, Thank you for your comment. In regards to the carafe imparting flavour into the coffee, when speaking about both the Breville Precision Brewer & the Thermal Moccamaster, we can only put this down to mind over matter. There is no evidence to suggest that the coffee should have any metal-like flavours coming through, especially when using a product that is stainless steel. We obviously can not speak to all types of coffee tumblers but from our experience with these carafes that is not the case. In regards to brewing small batches, both the Breville & the Moccamaster have the ability to brew small batches very well. Your decision may come down whether you prefer a little more control over your variables, like bloom time, temperature & flow rate. If that is the case we would suggest the Breville Precision Brewer. However, if you would like the ease of just having to turn it on and it takes care of the rest, we would suggest the Moccamaster is more your speed. Thanks for watching & Happy Brewing.

Great summary of the features and benefits, and great overall video. I'm thinking of ordering the glass over the stainless steel carafe model, despite the claims by coffee enthusiasts, stating that the pot being on a warmer plate can lead to a "burnt" taste after extended periods of time. Glass is an non-permeable and 100% non-reactive material; and, will not impart any unwanted flavors to your coffee. I add cream and enjoy a more consistent temperature. I brew a reasonable amount as to not leave a pot of coffee on the warming plate for more than about twenty minutes. What are your thoughts on the glass carafe Vs the stainless steel model?
@CremaCoffeeGarage
@CremaCoffeeGarage 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Reece Beauchamp, thanks for your comment. Some people do claim a burnt flavour after coffee has been on the warming plate for a while, but we can only put this down to mind over matter - unless there is coffee in the liquid to continue extracting or burning this shouldn't be happening, because once coffee is brewed the liquid itself doesn't continue to "brew" which is what would need to happen to cause that. As for glass vs stainless steel, temperature retention is a moot point with the warming plate so the main benefit of a stainless steel carafe over a glass one is it's not going to break if you drop it. Otherwise, the differences between the two materials are negligible and it really just comes down to your personal preference. It sounds like your mindful of how much you're brewing to suit your needs and you enjoy coffee more from a glass server, so 100% go for the glass! Thanks for watching our video, I hope this helped and happy brewing!

Breville offers a glass carafe as well. Have you noticed if there a temperature difference on how long the coffee stays hot with using glass carafe or the thermal? Also, have you had issues with only brewing 4 cups of coffee and it being lukewarm?

absolutely. question is how does it get rectified? I don't think so. believe it or not I use a four cup electric percolator to compensate

I had this coffee pot for a week and it was horrible. The shower head didn't disperse the water at all, water drilled through all the grounds in the center to the point where you could see the filter, and the grounds on the sides were totally dry. I was heartbroken because it was beautiful on the counter, but the coffee was crap.

Was hoping to see more detail about using the Over Ice mode and pourover mode with pourover set to OFF as well as in ON using the adapter. Also, do settings made in the MY BREW menu affect any other modes such as changing the brew temp or the bloom time? I realize the Gold mode probably returns the machine to the default SCA settings but what about the STRONG or OVER ICE, and FAST modes? The manual does not address any of these very specific details and Breville's customer service, as per usual, are not helpful at all. Breville apparently just pulls people off the street to answer phones and gives them a script (probably an electronic pdf) to search for FAQ and they don't bother to teach them anything about brewing coffee or how their machines work.

Hi George, Thank you for watching & for commenting with your question. Apologies, we do not have any footage of the OVER ICE Mode or more footage of the POUR-OVER mode, only what is already in the video. However, what we can tell you about the way this mode prepares the coffee, is that it is obviously tailored towards the smaller 1-2 cups for an individual. This mode also mimics the times that you find in the manual preparation of pour-over (see our video here: bit.ly/3RUDE1i). An initial bloom for 30 seconds, followed by two separate pours for an allotted time each & a break in between to allow the liquid to drain & avoid overflow. What we can comment on is that the automated version of this brew method will never be able to full replicate that of a traditional, manual pour-over method, as you are unable to mimic the style of pour that you will see in the video and this affects the saturation & therefore flavour development of the coffee. The settings in the 'My Brew' section only pertain to that setting. Any other setting will have its own pre-set parameters, especially when it comes to temperature and time. For example the STRONG coffee setting, you will still use the same quantity of coffee & water that you would for the MY BREW or GOLD setting for example, but the brewer will take longer to brew as it will steep longer to create that depth of strength. The OVER ICE setting is relying on you as the user to adapt the recipe as per the instructions, to create a stronger brew, with double the amount of coffee and less than the normal amount of water. This creates a stronger brew that you will then dilute with water or milk once chilled. More concentrated than your typical filter batch of coffee. FAST mode is, as the name would imply the fastest mode available. Brewing up to 12 cups (1.8L) as fast as the brewer can deliver the water in the tank. It is for this reason that this batch will have the lightest flavour and be a lot closer consistency-wise to a pour-over or Chemex, as the water is passing through the coffee at a faster rate than the MY BREW or GOLD settings. We hope this has helped bring a bit more clarity to your questions on this product. We do highly recommend this product for batch brewing specifically and the extra features are simply a bonus and drawing card for those tossing up between different filter coffee makers. Please feel free to comment with any more thoughts or questions you may have! Always happy to help! Happy Brewing from the Crema Coffee Crew! ☕

I just ordered one of these. I have 2 questions if you could please? I'm a 1-2 cup person in the morning. I brew larger batches on the weekends. I didn't order the pour over attachment. Any suggestion on getting a good 1-2 cups? Nobody seems to be reviewing just 1-2 cups. Also, how hard is the lid to clean. My old Oxo brewed thru the lid and it was kind of hard to keep clean. Thanks for your help and your review!!

Hi there, Thank you so much for watching & for your questions. In regards to the cleaning, the Breville brews through a shower head which can be unscrewed and cleaned whenever you deem needed. The Breville manual suggests that it can wiped over with a damp, clean cloth on a regular basis. As for brewing 1-2 cups, it certainly is possible with this machine. The manual states that it will recognize when the brewer has less than 4 cups (600ml) of water & it will automatically adjust the brew settings. You just need to make sure you use the plastic cone filter. Hope that helped & enjoy your new Breville :) Happy Brewing!

4 cup electric percolator would do the trick with coarse grind. Really this is a serious flaw that Breville has no solution. Breville should update the program immediately because no one could put a price on a good image that this company takes a little less than 100%.

I’m tossing up between this and the moccamaster. I have a couple of other Breville appliances and love them, but I really want to set up the coffee maker at night and tell Siri to make my coffee when I wake up (I understand freshly ground is better, but I’m willing to sacrifice that flavour to have coffee ready as soon as I get up - unless you can recommend something in this price range that will grind as well) The delay start feature won’t work for me as I have whacky sleep patterns and never know what time I will go to sleep or wake up. Even if I set it as I’m going to bed, I might sleep for 6 hours or I might sleep for 11 hours. There’s no way to know. I could use a switchbot button pusher to press the start button when I wake up, but I need to know which setting would be the default and be the one I get if I just press start rather than select things. My Breville microwave and bread maker will both do something if I just press start and this seems to be the same operating system so surely this will too. One more question. Does cold brew then get heated when it goes into the carafe or is it just cold? If it’s heated that might be another option but I can’t stand cold coffee and really don’t want to microwave it. The moccamaster would definitely be easier to automate but oh it’s so very ugly! It looks like it belongs in a workshop. Even the different colours don’t make it pretty. The Breville is gorgeous and would make me smile every time I look at it, just like my microwave and bread maker do. Btw, thank you for a wonderful review. It’s the best I’ve seen!

@@CremaCoffeeGarage yes I have! It looks beautiful on my bench and the coffee is wonderful. I’m using the gold setting for now. I set up a shortcut with a Switchbot bot to press the button, wait 3 seconds then press it again, so that wakes it up then starts it brewing. When I wake up I run the shortcut then have cuddles with my dog as it brews. It’s fabulous! Thanks so much for the help over the phone, and for sending it so quickly. The whole experience of buying it was great 😁
