The athletes of AMP 1 basketball team at Stuy Dome in Bed-Stuy have overcome extreme odds to participate in the sport. Through the use of technology, a number of amputees have overcome their disabilities, and are able to play recreational and competitive sports.
Of the over 200 wheelchair teams in operation around the United States, AMP 1 is the only organized team of amputees playing stand-up basketball in the country. This is a tale of inspiration if there ever was one!
