Anyone else think the mom was playing favorites? Defending the daughters rudeness towards her sister and using her religion and insecurities so that she could dominate over the bride is just plain toxic. Maybe the bride has a different outlook on religion and believes that if you’re a good person you can dress however you like.
@laurellane1721 Жыл бұрын
Didn't they mention that the mother was also a pastor? More than likely she would be the one presiding over the wedding. Maybe the sister was not only 'fighting' for herself but also was speaking for the mother knowing she wouldn't approve of the dresses? I'm thinking the mother should have spoken up herself but maybe didn't want to take the role of 'villian' so the daughter did? I'm wondering if they didn't cut out a lot to fit it into their half hour show. There may have been a lot of talk regarding modesty in church the show didn't want to show since it seemed the bride gave in pretty quickly all of a sudden.

I 've been in 5 weddings and haven't ever made a big fricking deal about what I wore. And when I got married, neither did my bridesmaids. I asked everyone if they liked the dress I picked, and they all said they were happy with it. They may have all loved it, or they may have all loathed it and just told me what they thought I wanted to hear in order to keep to my vision of my wedding - either way, that's the appropriate response. The only thing that throwing a temper tantrum over a bridesmaid dress accomplishes is making you look petty, jealous and selfish. It's ONE DAY out of your life to support your friend and help her have her dream come true. If she cares enough about you to ask you to stand up with her, you should care enough about her to not try to make her wedding about you. Thanks for coming to my TED talk 😉.

Right?? Like, I'm getting married, and one of my best friends and I talked early on, because I want her as a bridesmaid but she's too self conscious about wearing the dress, being in front of everyone, being in the pictures. We had an honest conversation from a place of caring about each other, and came out with her as an honorary bridesmaid: she's going to help me plan, come to the bachelorette, hang out with me while I get ready day-of, then go sit with her fiance and the guests in a dress she feels comfortable in. What's most important to us both is that she's there with me through the process- if she doesn't stand next to me for that 30 minutes of the day, oh well, I wasn't going to be looking at her in that moment anyway 😂 My point is, people need to talk honestly with each other BEFORE these appointments and work out what they want. This is dress shopping, not therapy- how are people going to wait until they're in the shop, ON TV, before admitting, "I'm insecure to show my legs." Like girl, you couldn't admit that to your sister in private but you're going to say it now on TV?? But I shouldn't expect them to have reasonable, rational people on reality TV 🤦♀️

Well she's welcome to join the wedding as a guest instead. The wedding is about the bride and the groom, and their journey together. Not a bridesmaid who has an insecurity probably because of her mother. It irritates me that bridesmaids have the type of attitude where they think "I can throw a tantrum because I'm not getting the dress I want". Watch how many brides would be willing to kick out their bridesmaids from the wedding because of that attitude. This is why I'm having a courthouse wedding with a couple friends and some family there. Screw dealing with the issues that arise from planning a big fancy wedding.

In the last round though, the last 2 dresses looked the same just short and long! The bride could have sister in the long and her other bridesmaids in short if she wanted

Honestly if that was my sister and she was refusing to wear what I wanted her to wear to MY wedding then I would happily remove her from the wedding and she can watch from the bench. No one is gonna influence what theme, dress, or color I want at my wedding

“Women shouldn’t show a lot” women shouldn’t be judging other women for how they dress, especially if they’re a good Christian :)
@LoveBritishShows3 жыл бұрын
Not even commenting on the episode. BUT saying someone should dress modestly is not “judging”. That word is overused and misused. If it meant what you imply it to mean then you are more guilty than her because you are implying that her Christianity is “judged” by what you deem to be a “good Christian”. Which would mean you are judging her and thereby being hypocritical, to say the least.
@justjaein3 жыл бұрын
@@LoveBritishShows actually I’m not being hypocritical, because not only am I not even claiming to be a good Christian, but I’m not judging someone based on what they want to wear, which is what I was criticizing. And I was using judging correctly, as in to assume something about someone and to criticize them for it off of a baseless observation. She is judging other women for being inappropriate when they “show a lot” because in her opinion, women should dress modesty. When in reality, whether someone is dressing correctly at their own wedding (within reason of course, and she was well within reason), is up to them and should be able to be done without judgement. It wouldn’t be judging, if she never projected her opinions into other people. It is now judging, because she wants other people to make decisions based on what she believes.

@smilingassassin054 жыл бұрын
Thank God. I think brides should be understanding of that... you dont need to highlight the insecurities of your bridesmaids or make them feel tremendously uncomfortable just to ensure you stand out on the day... after you get married...these ppl still gotta be your friends you call on...unless you decide to stop talking lol... I think some compromise is needed or you just change your bridal party to those who want to wear what you want them to wear
