I really hope you guys see this. The Queen Charlotte race thing isn't wish fulfillment. So the actual Queen Charlotte there have been claims(disputed) that she had African ancestry, and it doesn't really matter if she did or not in real life. The show has just made the choice to set it in an alternate history where it's obviously and undisputed fact she is of color by having her portrayed this way(by an African actress) which allowed for them to have more diversity among the "higher class" of characters by having people of color be more than slaves or peasants in this time. I liked that they did that in a way that wasn't pandering or just straight up obvious color changing with no real explanation, and that they don't harp on it every episode or preach or anything like that. It isn't even mentioned until now halfway through the season and it's 1 scene that isn't preachy it fit well and made sense to the characters, story, and even topic of what the conversation was. Personally I think it's a great step forward and very well done execution of making a show/film more diversified in cast w/o it even being preached to us as a big deal. As a black man I'm all for seeing more of "myself" in roles that isn't a slave, gangster, caricature, etc. And as a lover of these period themed shows/movies it did always pop in my head like well any blacks in this will have to be a slave, lower class person, or something like that minus the ONE mystical negro who was above all other blacks and well accepted by society who never saw him as a black man even though the times they most certainly would've. I also don't need to be pandered to though I don't need a film about George Washington played by Denzel Washington and it be an entire promo tour of why "this type of diversity is needed and it's the change we want blah blah blah...." and half the dialouge is preaching to me. I 1st watched this w/o seeing any trailers nor a book reader so I was completely blind and all the hype I heard none of it mentioned the race aspect and I was just like "oh they accept her as a black woman? That made blacks accepted earlier than history truly did? Cool" alright let's get back to the romance and sex.

Wait until it goes beyond kissing. Will they be screaming or complete silence.

It's nice to see a group of men straight up enjoy the show without mocking certain aspects of it. I have seen guys reacting that really like the show but I have also unfortunately seen guys who feel the need to keep up a mask of being too macho to enjoy it. It's nice to see these guys fall in the 1st group.

It was a nice statement but I hope they see my comment on that decision by the show. It isn't them doing wish fulfillment or just going hire the best person regardless of color. The actual Queen Charlotte had/has claims of African ancestry(disputed but it doesn't really matter if its true) the show is set in an alternate history where it's an absolute fact. With blacks granted titles they were royalty or high class so anyone lower than them couldn't treat them bad because of race even if they did feel a way towards them. The acceptance of blacks happened more quickly because the King made it happen so.

The person who wrote the scene never been around them, and probably lacks in analytical thinking department.

Lots of guys are openly admitting to loving this show, and more specifically, lots of male reactors are loving it, too. 😊👍❤️ It may be a romance, but personally I think the notion that romance is "just for women" is pretty antiquated, and I definitely see this show as holding lots of appeal for all genders and sexes. ❤️🙏❤️
