@Nicky L She seems to have got on very well with the "ruthless" enemy ( just ask her French barber ) She also appears to have gotten good training at the field hospital . Granted it , her Dad was a cold fish but none the less , he did provide her a good education . As for some of my neighbors , I often wish one or two were taken away and shot . Her life was tragic no doubt and I hope she's in a better place . However we shouldn't over look the tragedy she wroth on this young man , his fiancé and his family .

@@Victoria_Watts89 , my mom had a torturous childhood and she is the only one of six siblings who turned out better than her parents. The rest all similarly hurt other people. I've never understood why she turned out to be the most empathetic, open-minded, even-tempered loving person I have ever met. The only one out of an entire family. That is probably part of the reason I am fascinated with true crime. I want to understand why. We probably never will know exactly, though.

That really was an Unfortunate End for Felix. She seems to have been somewhat unbalanced. Crime of Passion yes, accident, not really. 3 gunshot wounds sounds kind of premeditated to me.

Kind of like a premeditated crime of passion.
@Galantski
@Galantski 2 жыл бұрын
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu It's premeditated murder, not a crime of passion at least as it is strictly defined. An example of the latter is a spouse who returned home to find his or her mate engaged in the act of adultery and snaps in the heat of the moment. That's blind rage. The case of Pauline Dubuisson is far removed from that. This was a brutal "If I can't have you, nobody will" and "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" sort of activity that occurred months after she had twice refused Felix's offer of marriage. After she showed no serious interest in him, he had every right to look elsewhere. She could have looked for another man, as she wouldn't have had a problem finding takers, though woe to any man who would have made such a mistake, as poor Felix found out. Firing three bullets into a person is hardly a sign of an accident. As with many murderers, she likely hit upon that as an excuse. As for her trying to shoot herself, only to have the gun jam, is unlikely for a couple of reasons: 1) a gun isn't typically the method of choice for a woman contemplating suicide, and 2) with three shots already in him, Pauline probably wanted to empty the gun into Felix. No one should throw a pity party for her. She had much going for her in looks, intelligence, and charm, but threw it away. It's sad that her life had to go that way, but she didn't need to kill.

I once knew a girl who did the "I don't want you, but I don't want anyone else to have you" thing. After a brief romance, she fixed me up with a friend of hers, decided she didn't like it when the friend and I actually liked each other, and did everything she could to break us up. The friend saw what was happening and broke up with me, and that's when my naive self wised up to what was going on.

I'd like to hear more details about her dad- he seemed to love his business more than his country or even his daughter; he was willing to use her to maintain his social standing and shipped her off when she was at her lowest because she was proving an "embarrassment" by trying to kill herself after being ostracized for her being used to help seduce German men for his business gains. She was 17 when she was publicly humiliated for consorting with the enemy her father introduced her to. That man was a real piece of shit.

Her sentence was too lenient. She was able to carve out a new life for herself, unlike her victim. Many people endure hideous childhoods and they do not murder because of rejection. Well...I do have a lot of stipulations. One condition I have is that they need to take responsibility for their actions and change the behavior or way of thinking that led them to decide to kill the person. If they don't show remorse, if they don't try to change the behavior, if they can't admit wrongdoing, perhaps it's to be reconsidered to let them out. If they have a history of lying about being rehabilitated that should be accounted for as well.

Shooting someone three times is inexcusable but I feel sorry for her. She grew up in circumstances that we nowadays can’t imagine and if she was a bit flaky anyway that could account for her behaviour.

@LadyPercy. 2 жыл бұрын
One can sympathise with her upbringing but that does not necessarily have any bearing on her adult life. She sounds like a very cold and calculated individual, may be even a narcissist ? Despite her education and obvious high intelligence she had no perception of what was morally right and wrong, as evidenced by her intimate fraternisation with German (enemy) soldiers. She toyed with the affections of Felix. Refused his proposal and then became interested in him again when he began to moved on with his life. I do have feelings of sadness for Pauline, but despite her strict childhood, she did have the academic skills and ample opportunity to make a successful life. Unfortunately her propensity to use and abuse those close to her made her a complex cold and unlikeable character.

A LOT of young women ended up having affairs with german soldiers during the war. Some did for the benefits (better access to food and luxuries you could no longer get because of the war) others because they genuinley fell in love with them. The norwegian government recently apologised to the women who had affairs with german soldiers because they were treated so badly after the war (shaved heads, public humiliation, etc).

Not sure why the story keeps suggesting she's somehow innocent of killing Felix. It was clearly premeditated if, after he rejected her, she got a gun, arranged a meeting for which she didn't appear so she could make sure he was alone, and then went up to his apartment, killed him and tried to kill herself. At that point, half the country had had a bad experience in the war and most of them didn't go around shooting people over it. As for the second guy she almost married, was she actually going to marry a man without telling him about her past as a murderer? Doesn't sound like a good start to a marital relationship.

There was a great deal of speculation about her thoughts and motives in these interactions. Not sure where that came from. I'd like to know more about her relationship with her parents, particularly her father. We can never know now of course, but certain types of abuse in childhood are known to lead to precocity, promiscuity, it's fairly recent that victims are able to talk about such things, even now some people never speak about what happened to them. And there was the fact she had a relationship with a man old enough to be her father, looking for some validation that she never got from her father perhaps? Then there are the repeated suicide attempts, and the self sabotage that occurred in her relationship with the man she murdered. Only surmising of course but there are lots of red flags in her story that made me feel there was more to what ailed her than just the trauma of war.

Perfect channel for a collab, thanks Brief Case and great job Unfortunate Ends! I'll be going over to watch some of your uploads. I really like the compassionate way this case was presented. Some commenters seem to misunderstand, she did not have what we usually call a 'harsh upbringing', she was the victim of her father's plans and machinations as well as a survivor of war. We in the US in particular, don't have a clear understanding of just exactly what that means. No one flew Hitler's planes over my neighborhood when I was little, dropping bombs on us like they did my mother's when she was a girl. Obviously, Pauline is responsible for the crime she committed, but if we as a society don't take the time to understand the root causes of these tragedies we are only going to continue to see more of them.

A very interesting story! I have a great deal of compassion for Pauline. She did get punished for her crime, repented, rebuilt her life. But then her past caught up with her, and she confided in the man she loved, and he dumped her. Instead of killing him, she killed herself, which to me shows her change in character. She didn't seek revenge, but fell into despair. May the earth lie gently on her bones.
