The Alamo was one of the greatest films ever made with the Duke, and even the latest film of it starring Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Quaid was another great film of the Alamo but nothing will ever beat the original with all those amazing actors that we grew up with, and that Ken Curtis had a great singing voice too. Lester! Love it! As I enjoy telling all of my Texian (as they were referred to at the time) friends - ‘You’re welcome!’ If not for Tennessee, there would be no Texas! Again, another great movie that danced loosely with historical accuracy in events and clothing/costuming - but Hollywood never has cared much for accurately portraying historical events?!? Regardless, great video, as always! Cheers to you sir!

Its true…my‘ol mate😊👍👍…Hollywood gets a lot of historic detail mixed with fiction…but…back in the day…they made great stories and had wonderful actors in plenty. The next video is about Waterloo…and the 1970 film…Wiki says…it was quite accurate as a 2hr film can be. Only a documentary can do justice to an historic battle…but…the best…is to research through many books to collate…the real truth about what happened there 😉💨💨💨

as a matter of fact, it was East Tennessee! my county of Sevier, and neighboring Blount County provided great heroes in that struggle. Lester, that's a particularly fine coat. i have a couple a bit like it, but with some beadwork epaulets and rosettes. i think i'll wear the black one in a video soon. the tobacco doesn't sound like my cup of tea. i do like some aromatics, but mostly fruit and rum. Santa Anna was later invited to Tennessee, but that's a story i'll tell another time. it's just plain good to see ye!

If you can, come visit the Alamo. It's Great!! Take a boat ride along the 11 mile river, inside the City of San Antonio. The River walk has lots of Restaurant and Bars. n the summer it's the Jazz Festival in the winter is the Christmas festivities. Thanks for sharing........Jose from Texas

sounds like you and i are on the same page with tobacco. i do love my aromatics. tastes good and smells good. but as for nicotine, i do enjoy a little processing juice. i smoke a lot more when editing my videos and some times need some go, go juice. my days of nose candy are done, so drink and smoke are my outlets when stuck inside. lol. wonderful video again sir, and that jacket! do not get to wear that often! but when you do, you always have a pipe in your hand.

A great book on the topic is A Time to Stand by Walter Lord who also wrote A Night to Remember about the Titanic disaster. The film with Wayne has always been a favoutite of mine even though it's full of historical inaccuracies.

Sounds like an interesting tobacco. It's also interesting how many actors in the movie went on to star in long running Tv Series. Ken Curtis as Festus in Gunsmoke, Richard Boone as Paladin, Denver Pyle on Dukes of Hazard and of course Linda Cristal. I'm looking forward to hearing your experience of Waterloo tobacco blend. Hola my dear amigo Lester, Alamo was really a great film. I've saw it several times and will see it several more times 🤠. The tragedy about this film was, he came out during a bad time (Vietnam) and nobody like to view it in this times. The production nearly almost ruined John Wayne because of the huge costs and lack of revenue. Caramel and coffee are one of my favourite tastes and the pouch art is great. I reach out for Waterloo!! Wonderful review and quite the tamper, Lester! 👏👏👏 After watching, I placed my ordered for Alamo. 😊 Fun fact, my 4th and 5th great-grandfather, George Russell and Maj. William Russell. Where both very good friends with Davy Crockett, and are noted by Davy, in his autobiography. Also, they were at Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814), with Sam Houston. Sam Houston was a good friend of Gen. Andrew Jackson. as well as my 5th great-grandfather, so they may have actuality met each other! I did not know 'Victoria' was in the Alamo! The High Chaparral was a great old show. A great impersonation of 'the Duke'! Sublime piping. Daniel.

Soldiers began vandalizing a large grave stone until General Santa Ana saw the masonic symbol on it, and ordered them to stop. He was a Mason. It was my first impression of things that can transcend nationality even during war time. An important lesson.

Morning Lester, I love western films, and the old ones but they generally are old, John Wayne must have been a little out of my era and liking for some reason, possibly John Wayne was such a huge screen presence he seemed to take away from the other actors, I may have to give them another go if ever they come back on, 😊superb video as ever 😊have a great week

you now have me thinking about drying out my tobacco when i smoke. i normally smoke it the way it comes out of the tin or jar. i have found during this winter that where i keep my tobacco, is cool and dry, but all the tobacco is at the same moisture and it is perfect. house is set to 65 and seems to like that temp. as far as the summer its set at 73 and it seems more dry then. thanks for the JW impression.

Thanks my‘ol Blake 😊👍👍 It depends of the moisture in the jar and you‘re right….it depends on the tobacco in the new tins…I have an electronic meter to measure the moisture…but….tobacco has many variables…some smoke well with high moisture…some smoke better with drying. This one is a bit better after drying…for me…but…it depends also the tongue of the smoker as well 😄😉💨💨💨

The whole series by Ross Ouellette is good😄👍👍…So far Gettysburg was my favourite 4* and Sherman‘s March was close 3.5*, Bull Run 2.8*. I will smoke the Brigadier Black Waterloo tobacco and the next video is about that 😊😉💨💨

I remember the Alamo… What a memorable film that was. Another great video my dear old mate. Coffee and Nougat….it was probably strong coffee and chewing baccie that kept them going.😂 All those actors were so familiar in my childhood. I had an old uncle who was a Western fanatic and he took me along to those movies. Happy days. I’m looking forward to Waterloo…I have recently heard an interesting horological fact about that battle, but I’ll save it for your video. Hi Lester Excellent review on Alamo movie starring the Duke, one of my favorites. Also, always love your well researched tobacco reviews. As you know, I do Smokeless Pipe Breathing but love tobacco aroma. Don't drink coffee but love the smell especially when Elaine gets her gourmet, auto drip coffee, ground, as you wait. A powerful smell. Alamo tobacco sounds like a must try for coffee connoisseurs. Elaine loves coffee. Her favorite, a organic, bold blend called "Mexican Velvet". Santa Ana probably had a cup before he attacked the Alamo. Do you like coffee/tea? Anyway, had another relaxing evening with Redcoat while doing Smokeless Piping. Also, can you send me you address? My dearest…Miss Worm….That buckskin jacket has a lot of history….I bought it in Tombstone in 1881…the others were wearing black frock-coats…as the fashion was in those times….I had an appointment on 26th of October with Wyatt, Virgil, Morgan and of course The Doc….after the shootout…fortunately I had my throwing Bowie knife….to finish the job….Yes my dear…there were other adventures….carved in that Buckskin…but…another story….another video…I‘ll tell…on a future day 😁😉💨💨💨

Well…my‘ol mate….most of my chocolate, aros are American…Sutliff, Two Friends, C&D, Super Value, Wilke etc….but…in Europe 🤔…..Dan Tobacco The Jolly Joker is a great almond vanilla cocoa blend, MacBaren Amphora Original is another one. G&H Bob‘s Chocolate Flake is famous but only a touch of chocolate flavour, McConnell Glen Piper with rum and chocolate…but…to find a pure chocolate blend is hard…many are complex mixtures toppings with several flavours. Help.... I finally acquired a Vauen Auenland Shire Hugg (estate) & noted the stem was looser than prefered when arrived. Vauen web page says if your stem is too loose let a hot bowl cool without a stem in it. If too tight use a lead pencil as a lubricant. Just curious if you have ran i to this situation with your buy and what did you do to address the issue? Sorry comment not related to vid. Supper happy with my find..saved a ton of cash and guess i got lucky since this pipe was smoked maybe 3 times tops! Practically brand new! Anyway just curious. Thanks in advance! ✌️🙂

My’ol Sam😊…the Vauen advice sounds good…Sofar….my beech stem is a perfect fit on my Vauen Auenland pipe. If I have a loose stem…I apply canauba wax on the tenon which thickens slightly the tenon and seals the fit….but that trick…to cool the bowl without the stem…sounds a good way….to shrink the mortice of the shank 😊😉💨💨💨

@@RedcoatsReturn Thanks! I've never ran into this issue with a 9mm filter type tenon. My last estate (a splendid Castello Zulu with a swirled purple stem) had the same issue (loose as a goose) and I gave it the good 'ol hot bath treatment and a lil tenon shove before it cooled down...next day the fit was like a glove! Side note: I trust boiling water over a licking flame any day (since I don't have tools to just whip up a new stem on the spot) ... anyhow...I will try some wax first (raw bee wax in my case - as I don't have the carnuba in hard form, just a paste) and then give the hot bowl minus stem cool down after in the alternative. Tis the risk of landing estates via mail...never know what you might get. All i know is i saved a ton of cash...So I have no complaints. Fun times! Happy Smokes! & Cheers! 🥂🥃🥂🥃 🙂👍

Mario my friend😊😊…I look if I can do manually…but about 3 months ago KZfaq stopped manual captions…because they said…its automatic in any language now. Sometimes they are slow to put captions…I hope the system bots will repair the fault😉💨💨💨

Youtude does it automatically…about 3 months ago I was setting up captions as usual….KZfaq blocked my efforts…they said captions are inedgible as they say…KZfaq offers captions in any language automatically. It usually works but…thus time its slow to offer captions. I‘m sorry Brian…KZfaq does allow me to do it manually either 😔
