Great video. I had the same issue on my Eterna (Yamaha subsidiary), except it was on the top end of that bolt where it attaches to the arm rather than the bottom end with the pedal, and it was occurring because, for whatever reason, the arm had worked its way towards the knee board at the pedal end (maybe its central pivot was worn) which then meant that bolt at the pedal end was too angled and creaking against the arm as it moved. So I fixed the source of the problem by fitting a spacer on the arm's pivot in the middle, which brought the arm away from the knee board (presumably back to where it had been originally) and made that bolt run vertically, just like that of the quiet pedal. The silence is bliss.

Thanks..my wife asked me to look at her piano last night....I did and said we need to find out what is " Safe " to lubricate it ....i fix a lot of things and know when to research... i knew a wet lube would be not to use and thought of a powder ...graphite is messy yes...i hate using it too... but it works on vehicles fine...hinges etc... i'll get some teflon and look deeper... and fix it...thanks for the adjusting info too..i prefer to take apart when possible.... 👍 Merry Xmas & Happy New Year Manitoba Canada

DuPont now has teflon liquid lubes where the carrier fluid flashes off and leaves dry teflon behind. I've had GREAT luck with them.

I really appreciate the video regarding squeaky sustain/damper pedal. I began by removing the bottom panel to take a look. However with the panel off there was no squeak, I was thrilled. I put the panel back on and the squeak returned :( I tried placing a strip of felt in between bottom panel and piano upon replacing, it did not do anything. Squeak remains. Really disconcerting. Thank you for any comment! :)

90 per cent of the Yamaha uprights I serviced (1989-2002) the real problem was the rubber sleeve at the top of the vertical rod, in behind the action.

Hi Brigham, If I lived in Utah, I would hire you! The piano tuner I hired had no idea how to fix my squeaky sustain pedal. After watching your video, I ordered some teflon powder and then located the source of the squeak. Mine is squeaking where the hole at the base of the pedal pivots over the horizontal pin/rod. I brushed lots of teflon powder over the area repeatedly and tried to work it into the joint by moving the pedal up and down as I added the powder, but it still squeaked. I removed the wooden anchor block that holds the end of the pin/rod, and pulled off the felt (?) washer hoping to loosen the pedal enough to access both sides of the pedal at the source of the squeak. However, I can't get the base of the pedal to slide at all on the pin/rod in order to loosen the space enough to get more teflon powder in there. Can you give me any hints as to what to try next?

Awesome but the squeak is coming from much closer to the sound board. Can’t isolate it near the pedal. Any tips for that ?

Just goes to show you can find ANYTHING on KZfaq. The owner said just spray it with WD40. I said NOOOO! I could screw it up if I don't do it rite. Now I even know how to adjust it after it is lubed. Thank You.

Hi. Do you know how i could reach the problematic area on my Yamaha Clavinova CLP625 ? And are there alternatives to the powder you have used ? Would simple oil or Vaseline or cream work ? (As I don’t think that I can provide this powder where I live + we’re all in quarantine so many shops closed and I won’t even be able to search for it around town)
