How to become rich and successful without working hard? In some sense, poverty isn't a lack of money but a particular life program that people create in their mind. Here're 8 habits of a poor person as well as the reasons that can prevent you from getting rich and living a wealthy life.
TIMESTAMPS
If you stop working, you won't be able to support your habitual lifestyle for longer than 3 months. 1:02
You are in a constant search for sales. 1:52
It takes you more than an hour to get to work. 2:46
You have some bills that you can hardly pay. 3:46
You aim for immediate profit. 5:19
You spend money before you have earned it. 6:11
You have drifted away from your family. 7:26
You expect that the government will change your life for the better. 8:15
SUMMARY
There are numerous examples when a poor person became rich without any family support or a substantial inheritance. In other cases, people had all personal qualities and possibilities necessary to earn a lot but they were too unsure of themselves to take the first step. If you feel that you're one of such people, don't get desperate.
- Create a so-called financial safety cushion. To do this, put some money aside every month. What is even better, try to find a source of passive income: it can be an investment in real estate, shares, or securities.
- If you always look for price tags with a magic word "discount" on them or try to buy goods only at sales, you have another habit of a poor person. The same goes for buying cheap things.
- The best thing you can do is to find an accommodation close to your work or figure out a way to spend as little time as possible to get there. If both options are unacceptable, use the time you spend on the way effectively: studying foreign languages or reading career-related books.
- If you pay loans for your mobile phone, car, furniture, and even traveling, something has gone wrong. There's a rule that says that debt payments shouldn't be more than 40 percent of your earnings.
- It's better to accept a job offer from a serious company with a lower starting salary: this will give you an opportunity to build a career and earn much more after some time. Don't concentrate on the sum of money you'll get after the first months of work. Think globally.
- Banks have pretty long periods during which you don't have to pay interest fees. However, this is just one more clever psychological trick.
- You'll be surprised how many people believe that they can achieve something worthy only acting on their own, separated from their family. But in fact, the situation is opposite: a person can't build a successful career or start a profitable business without a support of their family.
- Poor people often believe that while they have been working for all their life, the government should pay them more than enough when they retire. They count on social security to support them after they stop working. And exactly here there's a difference between poor and rich people. While people with low income spend most of their money on housing, those who have high income invest in retirement expenses and insurance, according to the data provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

I was brought up with "if you can't pay cash you can't afford it" except a house / car. With a credit card.. if you can't pay it off completely each month you are spending wrongly
@TheAshberry3
@TheAshberry3 4 жыл бұрын
That’s what is so crazy though. I was brought up to believe it’s always better to pay for things with cash as well. Well, once I paid for college and a car and had a decent job, I tried to get a house..... but NOBODY would give me a loan for a house because I hadn’t had credit cards or anything to build my credit. Even though I had nothing negative on my credit report and didn’t owe anyone money, I can’t buy a house. Now I’m stuck trying to balance using several credit cards a month and store cards, etc. trying to build up my credit so my fiancé and I can get a house of our own. He was brought up the same way, always paying for everything in cash. I wish they taught courses on credit and basic life skills in high school, it would’ve been nice to have learned that then instead of when I’m almost 30 and am having to pay outrageous bills because we are having to rent a house instead of making a payment on our own home.
@fearlesscrusader
@fearlesscrusader 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheAshberry3 What I did, was I bought a home from an individual rather than from a bank. She let me pay $200 down and $200 a month for 5 years. It was written as a "lease to own deal" so if I hadn't paid it off my payments would have been considered rent and she could have kept the house. But I paid it off 25 years ago and I'm still in that home. Moving too often costs too much money.

Wealthy people are always looking for ways to use their income to acquire more income generating assets. This is why the rich get richer.
@packerpf
@packerpf 6 жыл бұрын
no the rich get richer because they have more disposable income..they don't need everything to be a "hit" or "revenue return" unlike the middle and lower class who need it well over 80% of the time while a rich person doesn't need it one way or the other. The system is broken by rewarding greed, and destroying generosity..jobs don't go above and beyond minimum wages, government jobs are some of the lowest paying, and unless you're a nurse or doctor those who help people in various fields (including teachers) are some of the worst paid nation wide..we've rewarded cut throat tactics and betrays and punished those who seek to better other's lives.
@faithrada
@faithrada 6 жыл бұрын
packerpf. I don't see these two views as being necessarily exclusionary. There is a reason one has 'disposable income' in the first place. It has been shown that a person's personal *Time Horizon* has a lot to do with their ability to acquire wealth. To say.. the longer one is able to put off Personal Gratification... for something better down the road .. those people are typically more successful at attaining financial security. Studies have shown that our experiences as young children can greatly effect our relationship with money... without us even being aware of what is driving our choices. It's all pretty subtle stuff. Example: My parents were extremely frugal.. to the point of extreme obsession. MY Brother and I actually went hungry. I got his hand me down clothes, which would be fine .. except I'm a girl. : p Interestingly we each, as we got older, responded very differently to this deprivation. Where my brother responded by rebelling... and buying all this stuff.. because he could, .. so an "I'll show them" response... I chose to start saving for my own house by the age of 15. I could easily justify working two jobs and putting off children, etc. in order to gain financial security. The correct choice no doubt lies somewhere in the middle, but our own mental " parent tapes" often make finding that balance.. difficult. Anyway... even though I am now financially "Well Off".. I still ask the price of lobster before buying it. I am still willing to Walk Away...if I feel it is too high... even though I could certainly buy it if I really wanted to. Knowing that we CAN get something but just chose not to.. makes the discission much easier.

Honestly they are making it sound like buying things on sale or getting things for free is bad when it really isn't. Of course I'm going to look for sales for a few reasons. 1- I don't feel like spending 50(or any other amount) bucks on one pair of jeans (or other object) when I could get 2-4 pairs (amount and object) for the same amount when they are on sale or even from thrift stores. 2- They will last just as long on sale as they do full price 3- I know someone who has taken televisions from curbs and have used them and have yet to have any problem with them.

Back in 2007 I started to notice that I was loosing mobility in my legs. In 2008 I was medically layed off. My health grew worse. When I walk you can definitely tell I struggle. I've tried numerous places for employment in areas that I thought I had chance for. Luckily one company has kept me since 2011, but it's not full time. From my waist on down, I've got arthritis in my hips, knees and ankles. Then one hip needs work done. That's where Medicaid has failed me and also my employer has has let me down too. ayayron ayayron no, disagree. These are actions that poor people do consistently (definition of a habit) which assists in the affect of them being poor. Thomas Stanly has down most of the research for decades on this. The poor that don’t develop these habits are far more likely to stay poor, and if middle class, become poor. Poor people who avoid these & develop better habits rarely stay poor. Most millionaires are first gen. & most come from poor or working class families. 80% actually.

@@vincewhite5087 as a poor person i can tell you most of those things are done by some poor people as a result of been poor and certainly not the cause. When you get paid £1160 a month (based on UK NLW 2018 Net Pay on 37.5hrs a week) and your basic bills (rent, council tax, gas, electric, water, internet) come to £1000 a month and that cost is not including food and transport to work you dont have anything to save or invest. Those "mechanisms" you speak of are there by the rich to keep the poor poor lol, to let them have a moment of escape in order to continue in their circle of making the rich more rich. My boss CEO of Capita UK gets base rate £90,000 a month and employs 30,000 odd people, so what would be wrong with him taking home £60,000 a month and his "employees" making the money take home and extra £1000 each - for me the ratio is still way of but it would stop poverty and more importantly financial related suicides.....?? I am poor because my "boss" is not..... fact

Those who have a support system of friends and or family will often make it through troubled times easier and recover faster than those that don’t. However, if you find that your friends/family are draining you rather than supporting you, go it alone. They should be specific in their meanings in videos like this.

I have been poor my entire life. I was born poor, married twice with poor incomes, and divorced, now disabled and having to rely on SSI, Medicaid, and the very few food stamps that they will allow me to have. My bills take almost all of my income, leaving me only $40 a month for gasoline, which is not nearly enough to get by, and no money for food. I am diabetic, and celiac, but cannot afford to eat properly. My dab of food stamps each month, only allow me to eat 2 very cheap meals a day - such as peanut butter sandwich, or instant potatoes, or ramen noodles. I am not allowed to make any extra money, so I have no way to get out of the starvation cycle.

Miguel Hernandez. There was a time in the good ole' U.S.A. that you could save money? When Larry? Back in the 40's 50's and 60's. I was 18 in 1967. America had healthcare back then. A person like me at that time could have easily saved a lot of money and even bought and paid for more than one house on his own and even more if they were married. Congratulations Miguel. Why Larry? Because you are 100% correct in your statement. You can blame any of the past 2 or 3 presidents for stealing our universal healthcare or affordable healthcare away from the american tax payer. Your dead right Miguel about Politics playing not just some but a lot of fault on today's economy. Rubbish, most employers prefer nickel and diming their employees than pay them adequately and they'll happily let you start work early/stay late but won't pay you for it. Indeed getting you to work off the clock is one trick and another make sure your not a full time worker so a 10hr+ days don't get overtime. This BS ignores economic reality, and traveling an hour or more from work is usually mrans you can't afford living close to it. Income has been stagnant for over 30yrs when inflation is factored in and govt. should be blamed because they've let businesses/living costs create a permanent underclass which is growing. So lookup the US Minium Wage by year and the next time you see watch this Channel remember the saying buyer beware..

1. I disagree about sales. My mother shopped sales at the grocery store and clipped coupons. She grew up during the Depression. My father was a senior executive with a Fortune 50 company. He always bought somewhat expensive suits, but almost always on sale at a men's store that catered to executives and professionals. 2. I know some very wealthy people with long commutes. If you want a mansion on a large tract of land, you will probably be 45 minutes or more from downtown Chicago. But, while on the train, you can do work on a laptop and e-mail your subordinates.

When someone said "free", then I always questions the IQ of that person. Nothing is free in this world, someone should pay it, usually hard working productive people in form of taxes. From where I come, I use public healthcare and pay 7% from my salary every month. Even when use public service we always paid small amount of participation, and in the bill is shown how much is covered by state. As far for critical operations, my brother told me he paid a lot of money in public healthcare, I know it because he borrowed from me. By your logic, the state should covered that operation, but did not. Usually there is commission who decide who receive full amount of money for really expensive operations. How I know it? Every month many people ask for donations to cover those expensive operations. The problem is healthcare is strictly regulated by government, even in USA. To open hospital you need to pay a lot of licenses. That is the reason why there are so few private hospitals and horrible public healthcare. More private hospitals, means more competition, more quality service and cheaper services.

Its easy to say that you should put aside some money and or not look for sales but it really depends on where your starting point is, I AM poor like sure maybe I can put aside like two or at most 5 dollars a month out of My around 69-70 dollars I have left after paying My bills that month but its hardly gonna make me rich. And I actually must buy the cheapest food, and the cheapest clothes I can possibly find just to not starve and have clothes. But yes its not like I dont get the idea that you shouldn't go buying cheap just because it is cheap like I havent bought make up in years, and the only thing Ive bought this year is a dress I need for a wedding and I need to buy some shoes and a par of pants or two and maybe a top this year but other then that I dont think Im gonna buy new clothes but When I buy those Im gonna buy those when there is at least a 70% of tag on it or its at a second hand store or bargain buy store I will not spend more then 12 dollars on a shirt or pants, shoes however will cost more so that is what I use what ever few dollars I have been able to save each months and then we are only talking about useful boots like for winter and/or for summer. And if I buy book its from the local library like I buy two books for a dollar, but usually I just borrow them books as it wont cost me anything if I return them on time and you can also borrow newspapers, music and dvds there all free, so its not like I need to buy those things if I dont really want to. So its not that you shouldnt look for free stuff its more like knowing the difference between when something says its free but has hidden costs or when it is actually free you could argue that the hidden cost for borrowing books is the travel to and from the library, the cost of forgetting to return it on time but I never choose to go only to the library, like I do My grosery shopping after dropping of the books and picking up new ones. Then I go visit My parents I like to have at least two things to do for every trip I take that way I dont do or buy unnessesary things

I am guilty of more than half of those habits. I know it, but reading them and actually seeing the statement is a much stonger and powerful motivator. And yes, I am very poor. However, I have no desire to be rich, I believe the lust for money and more "everything" is one of this Countries biggest problems. Our need for things far out ways our desire for peace with ourselves. That said, I am guilty of not taking care of myself causing grief that interferes with the peace I have. Same coin, two different sides. I would be beside myself with joy just to pay my bills and go crazy at boscovs once in a while. But you are right; I should be responsible for myself and I am not. And it is no ones fault but my own. I got a good dose of reality reading this morning. Thank you. Now, all I have to do is get up and do it. Wish me luck!!!😂😎😊😓😓😓💵💰💸💲💲💲 Thank you again

Rose cha I think the video failed to make an important distinction here. There are those who, if they actually NEED something .. take the time to track down the Best price, or wait for it to go on sale... that is wise. However... what they MIGHT be referencing is that group which will randomly just be moved to by something... SIMPLY because it IS on sale, whether they actually NEED it or not. It's the fact that is is on SALE which prompts them to buy the item on the first place. The video IMHO fails to make the important distinction between these two VERY different groups.

The chances to see the item that you wanted to buy long ago in a sale is rare, actually your mind will convince you that you need it when you see an item that fits into your body, your home, your bag, or your feelings of awesome usage. You don't really looking for the item before you find out it is on sale. Besides that, people who spend time to look for sale of the item he or she is looking for is a waste of time which is also equal to the waste of money, you may spend more money in term of time to save up a little bit of money, not to say about the quality of the item just as the videos mentioned. But if you are a housewife, that is your job anyway and you won't be making money even you save up those time. This concept is actually based on theory that if you do not have enough money, find a way to make more instead of reducing the expenditure. But if you prefer relax and enjoy kind of life and have no determination to work hard and smart to get more, saving money is easier to do that making money isn't it? So this is for those who eagerly wanted to earn more and be richer, and they obviously have no time to look for sale.

So say I found a midrange bike for $2k that does everything bikes which cost thrice the amount do, I should go for the overpriced brand just because I don't want to do what poor people do? The thing is, things are never black or white, there are shades in between. Yeah!, no one is saying you should some Chinese knockoff but, there is a point you stop paying for the value and start paying for the brandname. You wanna tell me you don't know that by now? While I can always agree with the no-cheap-labor policy, but 2hours to get to work? first off, there is no office that far away from home in Europe. I don't know about the US. Plus, even if there is one, you can't always live near your work. What if you get fired or you are not satisfied with the job? it means you have to constantly move? I know a ton of folks who purposely move downtown to be near their workplaces but, at the detriment of their health- no parking space, highly polluted downtown area, noise pollution, no access to the nature as compared to living in the suburbs or sparsely populated area of town. Don't spend beyond your income, save at least 30% of every dollar or whatever your currency is. Invest in some passive income and insurance and don't forget to live life in the process. The worst people are those who get married because, that's what's expected of them by the society, work all their lives to buy things they can't afford, gadgets, overtly big house, cars and holidays just to name a few whims, to show off to people who can't stand them only to get a divorce and foreclosed on or better yet, pass the debt down to your offsrpings who aren't appreciative of anything.
